Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 07 June to 13 June 2026, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) Massive land scam by the Muslim community has been reported from Bengaluru’s Somanahalli. As per reports, according to the allegations, a Muslim family was allegedly granted or allowed control over nearly six acres of land valued at several crores of rupees for graveyard purposes, while the local Hindu community, numbering in the thousands, reportedly has access to a much smaller burial or cremation ground. Activists have also claimed that an old Hanuman temple structure in the vicinity was removed, raising concerns about the protection of religious and cultural heritage sites.

2) Recently, a viral claim of around 20 lakh illegal Bangladeshi immigrants residing all across the southern state of Karnataka led to yet another public discourse on quite an infamous topic- illegal infiltration of Bangladeshi Muslims into the country and the security, demographic, and economic threats that they pose.

3) The controversial Islamic religious conversion case involving Ayush Malik, also known as Mohammad Ali, son of pharmaceutical businessman Devraj Malik, has attracted significant attention in Uttar Pradesh and continues to generate controversy. The matter gained further prominence after family members alleged that Ayush was subjected to sustained influence and pressure leading up to his conversion.

4) A 22-year-old man has been booked in Maharashtra’s Palghar district for raping a young Hindu woman and sexually assaulting her minor sister, in a case that has triggered both a criminal investigation and a wider political controversy in the state. Police registered the case after a complaint by the victims, invoking provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, while search teams were deployed to trace the accused, who was reported absconding.

5) The tragic death of a minor Scheduled Caste girl in Dharwad has triggered widespread anger after allegations emerged that she was lured, sexually exploited, and subjected to sustained abuse before her death. Following mounting pressure from local residents and Hindu organizations, the police arrested two accused Islamists, Nayeem Baig and Sohail Mulla, in connection with the case and reportedly recovered photographs and explicit videos from their mobile phones that are said to support the allegations.

6) A controversy erupted in Assam’s Goalpara district after a Class 9 Muslim student brought beef biryani to school and attempted to persuade two Hindu classmates to consume it. The incident, which occurred at a government higher secondary school in Krishnai town, triggered outrage among parents and local residents, leading to police action and administrative intervention. As per reports, according to police, the student’s mother, Noor Sahida Begum, allegedly prepared the food brought to the school. Based on complaints lodged by the families of the Hindu students, authorities registered a case and arrested the woman, while the minor boy was produced before a juvenile court.

Bangladesh

Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.

1) Eight members of a minority family were injured, one critically, following an attack linked to a long-running land dispute in Monirampur Upazila of Jashore district, local residents and police said. The incident occurred in Parkhajura Malopara village under Mashimnagar Union, where attackers reportedly armed with sticks and other locally made weapons assaulted members of the family.

2) Daily-wage labourer Shyamal Chandra Mali was beaten to death in a brutal daylight assault by Hasan Ali in Joypurhat. What began as an argument over the harvesting of rice ended in bloodshed on a village road in Joypurhat, where the 50-year-old daily wage labourer was beaten to death in broad daylight, leaving local minority community reeling in shock and grief.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
