Countering Hinduphobia on Reddit

0
hinduphobia-reddit

Reddit is a social media platform divided downstream into millions of communities (subreddits). Its front-page comprises of most upvoted (liked) posts from these communities. Reddit admins hardly interfere in the affairs of subreddits, unless the content (posts and comments) is severely breaking the Reddit wide rules which in nutshell are very basic and neutral from political point of view.

Reddit rightly prides itself for its apolitical user generated content, which is honestly great and unique as compared to other SM platforms. However, political discussions on Reddit continue to be garbage, heavily leaning from left wing to extreme left wing.

Many Bharatiyas keep complaining on other social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook.

“I don’t get how Reddit works?”

“Reddit banned me without any reason. It sucks.”

Some political content of Reddit spills over to other social media (SM) platforms and people are amused by the level of vileness, bigotry and misinformation against Bharat and Hindus. Instances like these have made those who are not regular on Reddit, wonder whether Reddit as a platform is anti-Bharat or anti-Hindu. As a regular Reddit user, I will try to answer.

While the daily affairs of Reddit as a website and SM bigwig are handled by Reddit Admins, a Subreddit can be created and nurtured by any ordinary Reddit user, called “moderator” of that subreddit. Many times users get confused between Admins and Moderators: Admins are Reddit employees while Moderators are ordinary users volunteering to moderate Reddit Communities with no business affiliation to Reddit. It is up to Moderators of a subreddit to decide how and in which direction they want to grow their subreddit.

For Example – description of one of the subreddits /r/IndiaNews says- “The Official Indian News Subreddit for Indians”. But the subreddit also accepts memes, self posts, non-news content, etc. because the moderators of the subreddit allow it. This is not controlled by Reddit’s Administrators who give moderators freedom to define their subredits. Similarly, you would expect /r/trees to be all about plant kingdom. Anyways this is how it works.

Many platforms intended to run based on user moderation have not done well. But extensive freedom given to Moderators to curate a subreddit in terms of content is a unique feature of Reddit. This has its flipside especially when it comes to political opinions; this becomes a hindrance to democratic expression of views in Reddit.

This issue has become severe in several Bharat related subreddits in past 6 years. Group dynamics of a moderator team can create wonders and can also cause disasters. In case of Bharat related subreddits, the latter is true for older communities run by a cabal. Individually the moderators of such toxic communities – who take out time from their daily lives to manage communities – must be great persons. After all political opinions do not define a person completely and you can find many traits of someone’s personality admirable even if you do not agree with them politically.

But in moderator groups, some not so sane voices become prominent by the virtue of more active moderation work, aggressive pushing of agenda and an undeclared hierarchy structure within the team. At the same time, moderators start adding like-minded individuals too as new moderators to continue with the same propaganda.

/r/India met the same fate, the biggest community for Bharatiyas in Reddit, due to “India” being the default name of the community for Bharatiyas and the subreddit being the oldest in India-verse of Reddit.

Initially /r/India used to be a decent platform hosting diverse if not great opinions on a wide range of topics. There used to be a vocal minority which had issues with Hindus, Bharat and Right Wing politics, but it was a minority. This lasted till 2013. However, as the elections bells of 2014 rang, censorship turned dire. Stricter rules were made against “hate speech”, “trolling” and “abuse” which initially seemed to be implemented without any political bias but as the results of 2014 polls became clearer, meltdown of some moderators became more intense.

Users with right wing political views were being banned more and more indiscriminately. Banned users were mocked when they reached out for explanations. Someone even tried to mock PM Modi with a crass masturbation joke on Twitter using the handle of /r/India. Appeals to make moderation politically neutral or diversifying the moderation team with sensible right leaning moderators for the sake of balance were ignored.

At the same time smaller subreddits, which were trying to provide a platform with relaxed rules and better political discourse were targeted and bullied in a coordinated campaign, like mocking these subs on Twitter for smaller user base, trying to mislead and spam the AMA (Ask Me Anything) guests of smaller subs, using different user ids (alts) to troll in smaller subs and harass the moderators of those subs.

After some time, the objective of these left leaning moderators shifted from “containing hate speech and abuse” to providing “safe space” for some specific ideologies. Such moderators openly abused users and mocked them by saying “They do not want Chaddis, Sanghis, Bhakts etc.” In an infamous incident, one such moderator lamented openly that not enough Sanghis were genocided during 1947. Basically all gloves were off now, all intentions unmasked.

The demography of such “Indian” communities changed rapidly. Even in the beginning, the community was filled with ultra-leftist younglings of upper/ upper-middle class of urban Bharat and NRIs. As an average Bharatiya was shunned, communities started attracting Pakistanis, Pakistanis “acting” as self-hating Bharatiya, and individuals who advocated for Jehadist ideology much like those we saw in their full glory during JNU/ AMU fracas. Wishing death upon Bharat’s PM Modi, Amit Shah, and other BJP leaders became norm of the day.

Wikipedia was not the first platform to shadow ban OpIndia. It was done by /r/India when OpIndia was in its nascent stage. This strategy of pushing the nationalists to the corner and then trying to shut them from expressing views is common but somehow few subreddits have resisted. /r/Indianews instead banned several anti-Bharat web portals and fake news factories a few months back.

Nationalist and RW ideology has struck a chord with the common Bharatiyas. Naturally the base of such users with pro RW ideology is humongous and a few indeed indulge in abuse and break rules. But convenient for Leftists, few bad examples were made stereotype for all RW Bharatiya users in Reddit.

This resonated with much of the non-Bharatiya Reddit user base with simplistic political understanding. It is very easy to paint a Bharatiya nationalist as a Nazi. Incidents in west have also not helped much. But Burhan Wani of Kashmir is not George Floyd of Minneapolis. White Nationalists do not have any history of persecution in their own land like Bharatiyas. They also do not have any diversity or complexity in their countries’ social structure.

Still the Neo Nazi White Supremacists and proud, non-self hating Bharatiyas are grouped together by Leftist Reddit users who have appropriated control of major political subreddits. And so Reddit has transformed into a den of grand leftist delusions. All of their favorite political candidates across the globe in recent years have lost badly, Sanders, Hillary or Corbyn while the candidates whom they hate have won – Shinzo Abe, Netanyahu, Boris Johnson and at last but not least Trump. It should be noted that Bharat’s PM Modi remains hugely popular even on Reddit, just not in heavily censored leftist subreddits.

As such, sensible discussions about Bharat on Reddit is almost impossible in /r/India (ironically) and in other major subreddits. For example, following types of posts may get you instantly banned in many subreddits – pointing out that (even after factoring for low reporting) rape per capita in Bharat is way lower than western countries, Kashmir issue is now associated with radical Islamic ideology and not a freedom fight, recent Delhi riots were started by Muslims and were not anti-Muslim pogroms etc.

At the same time, copy paste on rape, Kashmir issue, “lynching” of Muslims are routinely circulated by a specific group of users who make multiple accounts to spread propaganda. Many of them are Pakistani. The discussion on Bharat related topics has become so predictable that it is pointless to look into them further. TLDR will be – “India Bad, Mudi bad, Indian rapists, I want to emigrate.”

There was an infamous incident, during the famous social experiment by Reddit- “Place” which began on April Fools’ Day in 2017. “Place” was a collaborative pixel art project in which Reddit users simultaneously competed to create different shapes and patterns on 1000×1000 pixel square.

Each subreddit’s user base united in drawing their representative image: LGBT flags, national flags, memes, and logos. Initially /r/india moderators promoted a script to draw the Indian national flag, but surreptitiously slipped in code that also drew a Pakistan flag without telling this to users of /r/India.

This infuriated the Bharatiya users after they found out Bharatiya and Pakistani flags together overnight without their knowledge. In retaliation, Bharatiya users collaborated in a separate subreddit /r/bakchodi to obliterate Pakistani flag, replacing it with the flag of Shiv Sena.

Watch this video from 3:10 to understand –

So what can be done about /r/India and the rabid hate against Bharat and Hindus in Reddit? Many times, frustrated Bharatiya users chase users or moderators who spread anti-Bharat propaganda, looking for answers. Most such bharatiyas get tagged as harassers and trolls. Don’t do that. Some have thought about legal action. But Reddit does not work like Twitter or Facebook.

Despite all the focus on political drama on social media, Reddit has managed to ensure the safety of its users and their data from the government agencies, for which Reddit should be appreciated. The removals due to legal reasons are rare. For example, the only removal from Reddit due to legal reasons in India-verse was done last year, when one of the posts in /r/Indianews exposed the links between an Urban Naxal currently in custody with spouse of one of the prominent HC judges.

Instead of trolling, one should make their voice stronger in Reddit through legitimate means. If some communities have suppressed your views and have tried to shut one down, one should not feel lost. There is no point in having lengthy political discussions with left wing trolls and Bharat haters. Instead it is advisable to report them to moderators and admins for their hate speech against Bharat. It takes time but it works.

At the same time several groups of Redditors have stood up for Bharat and Bharatiyas. They decided to challenge the status quo and have succeeded. Despite the best efforts of groups who want to obliterate the pro-Bharatiya and Hindu voices in Reddit, alternatives of /r/India have thrived and growing exponentially. Some of them are –

/r/IndiaNews – The oldest alternative sub, which has been appreciated by almost everyone since its inception for balanced and sensible moderation while taking a hard pro Bharat stance on Bharat related topics on Reddit. It has also been the first subreddit to seamlessly regularize AMA sessions in India-verse of Reddit.

/r/IndiaSpeaks – A sub reddit which has very efficiently grown as /r/India alternative in past years. The subreddit can boast of being best possible platform for political and general discussion currently as it has attracted both right wing and left wing users enabling balanced discussions.

/r/Chodi – A potent powerhouse of Virat memes and counter culture within the Reddit. Sub Reddit has shown explosive growth within few months and is now serving as growth engine for Dharmic and patriotic content within Reddit.

/r/IndiaDiscussion – This sub reddit tracks all the drama related to India-verse and serves as a very good repository chronicling all the cases of mod powers abuse and censorship in Reddit by moderators.

Everyone should join these Subreddits and contribute actively.

Vanvasis : ruined by Christian British rule and ignored by post-independent governments

0
Vanvasis of Bharat

Adiwasi word was coined in 20th century. Before that the people living in remote and forested areas of Bharat were called tribals or vanvasi : “people of the forest”. Calling them adivasi is problematic as it presupposes that they are the original inhabitants of Bharat and all others came later from outside. This is not the established fact. In fact, DNA evidence proves that there is practically no difference between so called Adivasis and Brahmins of Bharat and a vast majority of Bharatiya population has been residing in the subcontinent since time immemorial.

A new term Mulnivasi is also used now in activist circles. Both these terms are used to create a separate identity  of vanvasis, and put them against other people of Bharat and promote separatism amongst the tribal community. We will thus use the term ‘Tribals/Vanvasis’ in our analysis.

Who are the Vanvasis?

Vanvasis are around 7.5% of Bharat’s population and live in areas that are generally inaccessible, i.e. in mountains, deep forests or other remote areas. Contrary to common view, they are not totally outside the fold of society. In fact they have always had a close and mutually beneficial relationship with mainstream society.

Vanvasis of Bharat

Tribals are not a monolithic community. From the isolated tribes of Sentinel island in Andaman to more mainstream Gonds, Meenas, Ahoms, Jaunsaris and Bhotias, tribals are at different levels of material culture. Some are nomadic. Every year certain tribes dominate the results of UPSC civil services, PCS and other government exams, while we never hear of certain other tribes. The mythical equality among tribals is also a simplification. Most tribes are as much classiest and sexist as mainstream society.

In modern times, many tribes have suffered a lot due to colonialism, missionary activities, government land grabbing and later naxalism. We will see how their situation evolved within Bharatiya society and what is the current situation.

Vanvasis in Hindu epics

Bharat has two main epics : Ramayana and Mahabharata. Both have mention of vanvasis. Some people falsely claim that rakshasas were tribals. In fact some JNU activists have manufactured a false narrative of Mahishasur as a tribal King in recent years. The question is, if rakshasas can be called vanvasis, what will they call vanaras of Ramayana, and sabari in Ramayana? If Nisada is cursed in the beginning of Ramayana, does not the tribe regain honor when they help Sri Rama cross the river?

In Ramayana, Sabari is an important character. Clearly her name is not Sabari, she is called so as she is member of Sabar tribe (which is still existent today). Similarly, Nisadaraj becomes a friend of Rama. The vanaras of Karnataka/Kishkindha were allies of Rama and helped him conquer Lanka. Even if we consider Rakshasas as a tribe, clearly the antagonism of Rama was not due to their tribal status.

In Mahabharata, we find numerous tribal Kings participating in the war. The story of Eklavya is quite famous. He was from Bhil tribe. In fact, almost all the tribes of Bharat, from Manipur in East to Gujarat in West, and Kashmir in North to Tamil Nadu in South, are represented in the epic. The heroes, Pandavas, marry into some of these tribes. Thus in Mahabharata, we see that Tribals were respected and sought for alliance. The story of Ekalavya is of course an aberration, but Eklavya becomes one of the most trusted lieutenants of Jarasandh later in the story.

Vanvasis in ancient times

In ancient history, we can see description of tribal states in the republics mentioned in Ashokan inscriptions. Ashoka counsels many other tribes to desist from violent acts. Clearly, some people of these tribes were literate enough to read Ashokan inscriptions. Please note the location of the tribal republics is near the mountain ranges. In fact, both Mahavir and Buddha were born in such republican tribes and still considered Kshtriyas. Another commonly known piece of evidence is Prayag Prashasti of Samudragupta. He claims to have defeated tribal Kings of central Bharat and also tribal republics. Clearly, if there were tribal Kings, the stories of oppression for thousands of years are not true.

Vanvasis in medieval times

In medieval times, we learn of vanvasis from records left by medieval Kings and Sultans. We learn that Bhils of Mewar stood bravely with the Ranas during their tough times. Even today, the royal emblem of Mewar has a Bhil and a Rajput standing together with their arms. Even today, the Rajyabhiseka of Rana is done by a Bhil. The tribal Kingdom of Gondwana is mentioned in the history books as a bastion of resistance against Mughals. They married with the Chandel Rajputs and bravery of Queen Durgawati of Gonds against Akbar is not a secret. The tribal Kingdom of Ahoms defeated Mughals many a times.

Apart from these kingdoms, many tribes were into trade. An example is Banjaras. They are an impoverished community today, but in medieval times they carried goods from one place to another. They were tasked by Alauddin Khilji to carry grains, and by Shah Jehan to carry goods for his army in south. There are stories of many Lakha Banjaras, who had more than 1 lakh bullock carts. Many of the ponds they constructed for drinking water of their animals are still called Lakha Banjara Talab in central Bharat. Tribals were recruited as soldiers in Vijayanagar army too.

Clearly, even during medieval times, Tribals were strong and prosperous. Although politically extinguished by the Mughals, they were not in a pitiable condition. What exactly happened under the British?

The British rule

The British rule brought with it many tragedies for the tribals. In fact, tribals in one area or other, revolted almost every decade against the British. Some big revolts like Santhal Hool of 1855 or Ul Gulan of Mundas in 1890s shook the British badly.

The reasons for these revolts were almost similar everywhere. The tribal way of life was impacted by British Forest Laws (which remained in existence until 2013!), torture and corruption. The role of Christian missionaries, who denigrated the religious practices of Hindus were also at considerable fault.

Interestingly, in almost every major tribal revolt, the leaders claimed guidance of Thakur or God Vishnu. Birsa Munda even had a Vaishnav Guru, although these activists prefer to show him as separate from Hindu Dharma now. In Santhal as well as Munda revolt, the tribals declared coming of Satyug. These activists should tell us which religion talks about Satyug?

Criminal Tribes?

British felt difficulty in fighting the tribes, so they thought of a legal solution. They declared entire tribes as criminal tribes under Criminal Tribes Act. So, people were criminalized by birth! Curiously, the Dalit intellectuals for some reason do not stop praising “English sense of Justice” these days.

Such tribes are still stigmatized. They were denotified from the act after independence and in fact, even now they are sometimes called Denotified Tribes(DNT). Thus, many prosperous, independent and large tribes were brought to ruin by British greed.

Unfortunately, today Brahmins are blamed for their condition because according to Dalit intellectuals, everything wrong with this country is due to Brahmins. But this is not an original thought. Now we come to the second part of the story, in which we meet Verrier Elwin.

Verrier Elwin

It is difficult to talk about vanvasis in an academic sense without talking about Verrier Elwin. He was a missionary who came to Bharat in 1927 for spreading Christianty. He lived with tribals for years and wrote numerous books. His influence on Bharatiya understanding of tribals and policy of government regarding tribals cannot be overstated. A favourite of Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru, he served as director of Anthropological Survey of India and was given Bharatiya citizenship in 1954.

For the first eight years of his stay in Bharat, he wrote books from a Christian perspective. He emphasized that tribals were not Hindus. On the footprints of Christian missionaries, he called them animists. Unfortunately, that view stuck and is quoted by Hinduphobics even today. From 1935 onwards, he corrected his views and emphatically said that tribals are indeed Hindus. But the damage had already been done.

His second blunder was his prescribed policy to approach tribals. He emphasized that they should be undisturbed as long as possible and should be made part of mainstream “at their own pace”. This led to marginalization of tribals as state conveniently forgot about them for a very long time. This led to two things.

Firstly, the Christian missionaries filled the vaccum created by withdrawal of state and harvested souls by lakhs. So a major area of North East, and central Bharat was Christianized. Secondly, the lack of development enabled radical Communists to find roots in these areas. Large parts of tribal belt are under influence of Maoist insurgency today.

Current situation and politics

Today, the foreign funded missionaries are facing resistance from organisations like Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, who focus on bringing tribals to mainstream by education and social work. The naxals work as the armed soldiers of Missionaries in many cases and both have a declared agenda of breaking Bharat.

The front organisation of these powers keep bringing the false narratives about tribal marginalization and exploitation to the fore. In this they are supported by other breaking Bharat forces.

We have seen how tribals were ruined by the British. It suits missionaries to deflect the blame on Brahmins and Hindus. Then ironically, they also claim that tribals were not Hindus ever. Truth is, Hindu Dharma all over Bharat retains practice of worshiping gram devtas(village deities), kul devtas(ancestral deities) and pitri-devtas(ancestors). Reverence to nature is inbuilt in Hindu Dharma. How is it different from animism?

Of course, now many tribals have converted into Islam and Christianty, but the religion of their ancestors was undoubtedly Hindu Dharma. Most tribals will tell you so despite the claim of “Tribal Army”. It is one thing on which Gandhi and Savarkar both agree.

Muslim man slits the throat of his Hindu girlfriend in Bijnor

0
Muslim lover

Yet another brutal murder of a Hindu girl at the hands of a Muslim man has taken place, this time in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor reports Amar Ujala. In recent times, several cases of love jihad related murders are being reported from Uttar Pradesh in particular.

In the Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh, a young man strangled his reported girlfriend to death. On Sunday (13th September), based on the information provided by the accused, the police recovered the girl’s body from a farm in the Haldore area. Following the police interrogation, the accused confessed his crime.

For the past three years Kajal, a resident of Kheda Mohalla of Haldore Nagar, was seeing a young man named Salim. According to the City CO Kuldeep Kumar, during interrogation, the young man said that he saw his girlfriend talking to another youngster and from then on he was jealous of her.

About two weeks ago, Kajal was attending a feast at her friend’s place when Salim called her and asked her to come to Hardaspur Garhi Marg. On reaching there, he took her to a nearby sugarcane field where he murdered her using a razor and fled from the crime scene.

On receiving information, the police nabbed the accused and recovered the body from the spot along with the razor used in the murder based on Salim’s confession. The dog squad team also reached the spot with whose help the body was recovered and sent for post-mortem by the police. The police have booked the accused and further investigations are underway.

https://youtu.be/nbOqSom4z4o

Unveiling Maulana Azad – the Islamist behind the mask of a moderate

0

Among the several leaders whose image has been carefully nurtured to project a tolerant and unifying face is that of Maulana Azad, post-independence Bharat’s first Education Minister. Looks, as they say, can often be deceptive and we are making an attempt to honestly and dispassionately decode the real Maulana Azad – an Islamist wearing the moderate mask.

Maulana Azad’s childhood

Azad came from a family of Islamic scholars, known for their zeal to serve the ‘cause’ of the Hadith (sayings/teachings of Mohammad) and the Sunnah (actions of and practices prevailing during Mohammad’s times), who traveled to Bharat from Herat in Afghanistan during Babur’s times.

His father, Maulana Khairuddin who had traveled to Mecca in Saudi Arabia in 1857 and returned to Kolkata, Bharat in 1898 after spending several years in the company of Islamic scholars of Mecca and Medina. He did not just learn the tenets of Islam there but was also chosen to preach Islam and deliver sermons in what is considered the holiest Muslim seminary in the world.

Azad was born on 11 November 1888 in Mecca and spent his formative years in Mecca and Medina. He learned Arabic from his mother and Urdu from his father.

By his own admission, he was home-schooled and though he was taught several subjects the focus was on Islamic studies which he learned from his father thrice a day. Bharat’s first education minister never received formal education!

Maulana Azad’s ‘education’

Maulana Khairuddin did not think highly of English education and wanted his sons to succeed him as a Pir (Muslim saint). The education of Azad and his brother was largely dictated by their father who was certain that his sons must continue the family tradition of devotion to and learning and propagation of Islam. In 1905, his father sent him to the world-famous Islamic university of Al-Azhar in Cairo for two years.

His hatred for the modern and preference for the medieval led to Khairuddin home-schooling his children where he himself taught them the Koran, Hadith, and Sharia. The boys had finished studying the Koran during their stay in Mecca and after moving to Kolkata (then Calcutta) they were sent to haram sharif for Qerat (reading and chanting Koran) lessons.

The children were taught Persian and Arabic but mastering the Koran, Hadith, and other Islamic religious literature remained the central point of their study. Eminent Islamic teachers were employed to share his workload due to Khairuddin’s failing health.

Maulana Azad – a nationalist or an Islamist

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad is often portrayed as a secular icon symbolizing the Ganga-Jamuni tehzeeb (a term used to depict Hindu-Muslim unity) and a nationalist to the core. His speeches where he argues against the partition and formation of Pakistan are quoted in favor of this view. But does this argument hold water? Or is this simply white-washing his true Islamist nature?

Both his upbringing and education are clear indicators that Islam moulded his views and ideology. An analysis of his speeches and interviews will show us that he had perfected the art of Al-taqiyya (concealing one’s belief) by speaking in different voices when he was among a heterogeneous group and giving precedence to the Islamist in him when he was among Muslims.

He opposed the two-nation theory and partition of Pakistan not because he believed in Hindu-Muslim unity or equality, but because he felt that an undivided Bharat would mean safety in numbers for the Muslims and would allow for the unchecked propagation of Islam in the whole subcontinent.

In a speech delivered in Urdu (translated by Syed Saiyidin Hameed) to his co-religionists at Delhi’s Jama Masjid on the 23rd of October 1947 he rebukes the gathered Muslims for not heeding to his advice:

“I hailed you, you cut off my tongue. I picked up my pen, you severed my hand. I wanted to move forward, you cut my legs. I tried to turn over, and you injured me in the back. When the bitter political games of the last seven years were at their peak, I tried to wake you up at every danger signal… I warned you that the two-nation theory was the death-knell to a meaningful and dignified life, forsake it. To all this, you turned a deaf ear. And now you have discovered that the anchors of your faith have set you adrift. The debacle of Indian Muslims is the result of the colossal blunders committed by the Muslim League’s misguided leadership.”

In fact, when the constitution of independent Bharat was being written, Azad led the demand for a separate Muslim electorate besides weighted reservations for them (50% more than the Muslim population).

His belief in the Muslim Ummah (Muslim brotherhood) pre-dates the partition and is visible in his support to the Khilafat movement. When the fall of the Ottoman Caliphate was in plain sight, Maulana Azad supported the Khilafat movement and mobilized the Muslims of Bharat to wage Jihad in Turkey by delivering a rousing speech to a gathering of Muslims on 27th October 1914 in Kolkata when he spoke thus:

“This biradri (community of Muslims) has been established by God…All relationships in the world can break down but this relationship can never be severed. It is possible a father turns against his son, not impossible that a mother separates her child from her lap, it is possible that one brother becomes the enemy of the other brother…But the relationship that a Chinese Muslim has with an African Muslim, an Arab Bedouin has with the Tatar shepherd, and which binds in one soul a neo-Muslim of India with the right-descendant Qureshi of Mecca, there is no power on earth to break it, to cut off this chain…”

He was a proponent of global Islamism and endorsing the Muslim Ummah, he said:

“If even a grain of the soul of Islam is alive among its followers, then I should say that if a thorn gets stuck in a Turk’s sole in the battlefield of war, then I swear by the God of Islam, no Muslim of India can be a Muslim until he feels that prick in his heart instead of the sole because the Millat-e-Islam (the global Muslim community) is a single body.”

Not every Muslim qualifies to be a Maulana (Islamic scholar) but by virtue of being well-versed in and having mastered the Koran, Hadith, and other Islamic religious literature Abul Kalam Azad earned the title of “Maulana”.

He quoted both Mohammad and the Koran in favor of his views when he quoted Verse 29 of the Quran’s Chapter Al-Fatah which urges Muslims to be friendly between themselves and hard against kafirs (infidels). He translated the verse as “be extremely hard against kafirs but extremely sympathetic and kind among ourselves.”

He not just outrightly rejected territorial nationalism among Bharatiya Muslims but for him establishing the Aligarh Muslim University was akin to installing the Kaaba (Islam’s holiest shrine) in Aligarh.

His Kolkata speech is replete with exaltations of the superiority of the Islamic sword and for someone who is considered to be a symbol of peace and Hindu-Muslim, Azad sure had an unquenched thirst to see the rivers of blood if it could guarantee a win for Islam.

No wonder he egged on his Muslim brothers by saying:

“Oh! Dear brothers, remember that however rosy the idea of peace, compromise, and rejection of murder and plunder in the world may be, but due to the bad luck of the world thus far the real power is the power of the sword; and the source of life, the water of life is in the fountains and rivers of blood. Today, if it is asked, where to search for the life of nations and evidence of life, then its answer will not come from universities of education and arts, and ancient libraries…rather, it will be found in the metalled (war) ships which line up the coast”

Wonder how many educationists would endorse the sword over books and pen, especially as an offensive strategy just to spread one’s religion because one believes it to be superior to so-called “pagan” polytheism.

He ended his Kolkata speech by impressing upon his Muslim brothers the importance of waging Jihad by declaring:

“I say that, on every momin who believes in Allah, his messenger (Prophet Muhammad) and his book (Quran), it is obligatory that he rise up today for jihad fi sabeelillah (jihad in the path of Allah). The meaning of Islam is to surrender our heads before the only God, and then it is upon him whether he puts it in the lap of friends or under the sword of enemies”.

If his Kolkata speech is already not a give-away regarding his Islamist ideology, we present some of his views as expressed by Azad himself in an interview given to Urdu magazine Chattan’s Shorish Kashmiri in April 1946.

Question: The Hindu Muslim dispute has become so acute that it has foreclosed any possibility of reconciliation. Don’t you think that, in this situation, the birth of Pakistan has become inevitable?

Azad: If Pakistan were the solution of Hindu-Muslim problems, then I would have extended my support to it. A section of Hindu opinion is now turning in its favor. The communal hatred it has generated has completely extinguished all possibilities of spreading and preaching Islam. This communal politics has hurt the religion beyond measure. Muslims have turned away from the Koran.

By the time of the decline of the Mughal rule, Muslims in India were a little over 22.5 million. Since then the numbers kept increasing. If the Muslim politicians had not used the offensive language that embittered communal relations and the other section acting as agents of British interests had not worked to widen the Hindu-Muslim breach, the number of Muslims in India would have gone up… Under British influence, we turned Islam into a hereditary community.

How shall we explain the ever-growing Muslim presence in non-Muslim lands, including India? Do they realize that if Islam had approved this principle, then it would not have permitted its followers to go to non-Muslim lands, and many ancestors of the supporters of Pakistan would not even have entered the fold of Islam?

Question: But the question is: how can Muslims keep their community identity intact and how can they inculcate the attributes of the citizens of a Muslim state?

Azad: The real issue is the freedom of faith and worship, and who can put a cap on that freedom? Will independence reduce the 90 million Muslims into such a helpless state that they feel constrained in enjoying their religious freedom? If the British who, as a world power, could not snatch this liberty, what magic or power do the Hindus have to deny this freedom of religion?

After Independence, Maulana Azad was appointed Education Minister in 1947 and occupied that crucial position till his death in 1958. He started the process of negatonism of history to cover up Islamic misdeeds.

His views make it crystal clear that his loyalties were always with Islam and the real impact of his ideology and Islam-influenced policies, agreed to and seconded by Nehru, can be seen in our History text-books where the crimes of Islamic invaders have been white-washed to the extent of presenting Mughals as “messiahs of the oppressed Hindu masses” and in the worst case as ‘benevolent dictators’.

Muslim barber sexually assaults minor boy, loses arm on railway track while fleeing; The Wire claims attack by ‘Hindu fundamentalists’

0

A Muslim man, Akhlaq Salmani (28), was caught sexually assaulting a 8-year-old Hindu boy in Panipat, Haryana around 2 AM on 24th August. The furious family members of the boy confronted Salmani and slapped him, but he managed to flee.

While running away, Salmani’s arm was cut off below the elbow when he fell on railway tracks. The next morning he was found near the tracks by railway police and hospitalised.

The family of the boy initially decided not to file a complaint to save the minor further trauma, but decided to file an FIR on 7th September after policemen started inquiring with them. The FIR was filed at the Chandni Bagh police station in Panipat under Section 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault), Section 18 (punishment for attempt to commit an offence) of the POCSO Act and Section 323 of the IPC.

In the FIR statement, the eight-year-old boy’s uncle Vishal* (name changed to protect identity), explained that he, his wife and their eight-year-old nephew were sleeping in the verandah. The gate, which faced the railway track was unlocked but closed. “Around 1:00 am I got up to take a leak, when I returned I saw that the boy was not there and the door was open. I woke the neighbours and family members and everyone began searching for the boy. We spotted a young man and then saw that he had pushed the child to the floor and was on him; the minor boy was without clothes.”

Speaking about what followed, he said, “We were furious, asked him his name and slapped him. He told us his name was Aqhlaq and ran away to the side of the railway line. Ever since I have been looking for him.”

The boy’s mouth was swollen and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment. When the FIR was registered, Singh also submitted the medical certificate of the boy from his visit to the hospital on 27 August. He had four injuries in total.

However, on the same day as the family filed their FIR, Salmani who had also recovered sufficiently by then and been visited by his brother Ikram, filed a counter FIR which claimed that around 1.30am on August 24, Salmani was near the Kishanpur area of Panipat, searching for water. When he knocked at a house, four people allegedly attacked him with sticks and bricks, dragged him to a nearby saw machine and chopped his right arm off with a chainsaw. They later dumped him near the railway track, the FIR added.

Salmani’s brother, Ikram, alleged the crime was committed after the culprits allegedly spotted the number 786 tattooed on his right arm. “They were kattar (orthodox) Hindus who do not want Muslims to live in Hindustan anymore. There is no doubt in my mind that my brother was attacked for being Muslim. I will not sit back till we are heard well and loud.”

Ikram said his brother got the number 786 tattooed when he was just 15 years old. “We believe in 786. We believe in Allah,” he added.

Among media outlets who reported this news, most like The Wire and Hindustan Times have focused on the version presented in the FIR lodged by Salmani. They have extensively quoted Ikram Salmani, and mentioned the FIR lodged by the boy’s family only in passing. The Quint has at least reported both versions, but even their headline stresses on ‘Muslim Man Attacked in Panipat’, the fact that a minor child was sexually assaulted by Salmani who pushed his genitals into the child’s mouth is secondary for them.

The Wire has in fact quoted rabid Islamist propaganda outlet TwoCircles.net which has completely erased the child sexual assault part from their report!

Police investigation has corroborated what the child’s family is saying, and the child himself has given statement to a magistrate about the sexual attack.

Chandni Bagh police station SHO Inspector Ankit Nandal who is investigating the matter told The Quint – “Preliminary investigation suggests that the hand was cut by the wheels of the train….why would a man go to someone’s house at 2:00 am to get water? Also why would they cut his hand when there is no history of enmity? The man is not from here. The child has also given a statement in front of the magistrate. He said that Akhlaq had pushed his private parts into his mouth in an area close to railway station.”

Now, an SIT under Panipat DSP Satish Vats has been formed to investigate both the cases.

Saharanpur MP BSP’s Fajlur Rehman, Samajwadi Party district president and Bhim Army district president have all visited Salmani’s home.

Muslim radicalisation versus Hindu cluelessness

Ikram Salmani is the member of an organisation called All India Jamaat E Salmani. A look at the organisation’s website tells us its various demands on behalf of the Salmani community – office space in every district of the country; action against any official who ‘conspires’ against them; land grants in all districts; appointment by Central and State governments of officials and lawyers nominated by the org; special employment schemes; political quotas; amendments to Article 341 of Constitution to allow quota for ‘Dalit’ Muslims and Christians.

How many such Muslim organisations exist across the country? This gives an idea about the kind of finely tuned political antennae Muslims have. They are organised horizontally and vertically at all levels. They are acutely aware of how to set an agenda, how to capture the narrative, how to present themselves as victims while working non-stop to extract more and more privileges from the secular state. They know they have strong allies in left-liberal mainstream media, Communists, secular/liberal/atheist ‘Hindus’, Christian organisations and the left-liberal NGO lobby.

Ikram Salmani knew exactly what buttons to press to ensure his brother’s arm getting cut becomes the main story here, not the sexual assault and oral rape of a 8-year-old boy. He knew, just like those who falsely claimed they were assaulted after refusing to chant ‘Jai Sri Ram’, what line would be picked up by the English-language media. Now, the media’s entire focus is on a man’s arm being cut  ‘because he had tattooed the Islamic symbol 786’.

Meanwhile, Hindus are hopelessly clueless about their situation. They think politics matters only at time of elections and all they need to decide is which party to vote for. They are clueless about the multi-pronged global forces working against them, and the legal discrimination which they face within Bharat, forget the state of Hindus in Pakistan or Bangladesh. For eg., ask yourselves, how many educated Hindus are aware of the Hindu Charter?

Even the so-called RW ‘politically aware’ Hindu cannot see beyond BJP-RSS. Have we asked the other Hindu organisations, including the small community organisations and local temples, the Akhara Parishads, the various mathas etc. about their stance on crucial socio-political issues staring Hindus in the face? Do they even have an opinion? Do Hindus living in UP know what’s happening in Tamil Nadu and West Bengal or vice versa? But Muslims across the country will tell you that giving refuge to Rohingya Muslims is a ‘humane cause’.

Is it any worder that Akhlaq Salmani has become another cause célèbre for our elites:

While poor Rahul who was lynched in Delhi a few days back by 4 Muslims has been all but forgotten, branded a ‘thief’ just because he had past run-ins with the police.

Ganesh murti desecrated with alleged human waste in Andhra Pradesh

0
Ganesh

In yet another attack on Hindus in Andhra Pradesh, the vigraha of Bhagwan Ganesh has allegedly been desecrated by applying human excreta to the sacred murti.

As per available information, the incident occurred in Rajahmundry and the culprits are yet to be identified. The motive behind the desecration seems to be creating unrest and hurting the sentiments of the majority Hindus who have been at the receiving end ever since Christian CM Jagan Mohan Reddy has come to power.

The incident reminds one of the Rakshasas mentioned in our itihasas, who reveled in desecrating yajnas by the rishis. Later on, the mantle was taken up by Islamic invaders, who showed their hatred towards Hinduism by targeting temples. They not only broke temples, but also desecrated them by defecating there, slaughtering cows in the temples and also by using the murtis as footsteps of mosques.

The Christians were no less barbaric. During the Goan inquisition started on the request of “Saint” Francis Xavier, King of Portugal issued an order in 1546, to forbid Hinduism, destroy Hindu temples, prohibit the public celebration of Hindu feasts, expel Hindu priests and severely punish those who create any Hindu images in all Portuguese possessions in Bharat. However, the actual inquisition started 14 years later and as a result all Hindu temples of Goa were demolished!

These crimes now being reported from Andhra depict the same hate towards Hindus and Hindu religious symbols. Speaking on the incident, Journalist Sai has pointed out how time and again Hindu temples are being targeted in Andhra Pradesh. The attacks on Hindu temples have become all too frequent to be dismissed as a one-off act by miscreants or hooligans.

In the past, vigrahas have been smashed, temple chariots used in rath-yatras (chariot processions) been burnt, or temples desecrated by placing meat; this time, however, the hooligans have gone too far and serious action needs to be initiated if such acts are to be stopped. Hindu tolerance is now truly being misconstrued as weakness which is allowing hooligans to act in such a vile manner.

Even Jana Sena Chief and Telugu film actor Pawan Kalyan had raised questions in this regard and asked the government to take measures to ensure the safety and security of Hindu temples while adding that lame excuses such as “it was an act conducted by mentally unstable persons” or “honey hunters set fire to the chariot accidentally” are not acceptable anymore.

It is the need of the hour not just to install CCTVs in temples but also to step up protection of Hindu temples in Andhra keeping in mind the frequency of such attacks.

A thorough police investigation needs to be done to determine if it is really human waste and also ascertain who could be behind such a disgusting act. Also, the culprits must be brought to book at the earliest with exemplary punishment being meted out.

9/11 and the clash of civilizations

0

What happened on 11 September 2001 is one of the defining events of world history. On that day, Islamic terrorists hijacked four passenger planes flying over USA. Two planes were crashed into the iconic twin towers of World Trade Center in New York City, one into the Pentagon in Washington D.C, while one crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers overpowered the hijackers. Around 3000 people died as a result of these attacks.

As expected, the sole superpower in the world went after the attackers and some of their backers with a vengeance.

The distant phenomenon of Islamic jihad that USA and the West had hitherto used for their geopolitical interests, had hit their own homeland. One expected the West to realize the true nature of the Islamist threat and go all out. And indeed, a global ‘war on terror’ was launched. Terror organisation Al-Qaeda and the Taliban govt. which had given it refuge in Afghanistan were pounded to dust, and driven out into the lawless tribals areas of the Af-Pak border.

But then, something strange happened. As this twitter thread shows, two key players in the global Islamic jihad project, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, went scot free. The US govt. led by President George Bush and his pack of neo-cons instead decided to invade Iraq in 2003, under false pretexts of Saddam Hussein’s links to 9/11 and claiming he had developed WMDs (Weapons of Mass Destruction). This invasion completely destabilised an already volatile part of the world, and led to the rise of Islamic State (IS).

The US and the West then funded Islamist jihadis in Libya, some with links to AlQaeda, in order to topple the Gaddafi regime. Once Libya’s regime change was accomplished, they turned their attention to Syria and the Assad regime. Again, dangerous Islamist radicals, including IS, were supported, triggering a civil war that still rages. Thousands of refugees flooded into Europe allowing hardened jihadists with combat experience to unleash terror attacks all over Europe.

It was left to a maverick billionaire elected as President in 2016 to try and fix some of these blunders.

Another 9/11

119 years before the twin towers towers were destroyed, on September 11, 1893 a saffron-clad Hindu monk delivered an address at the Parliament of World’s Religion Congress in Chicago, USA. Swami Vivekananda’s soul-stirring message of universal tolerance and harmony still resonates:

“I am proud to belong to a religion which has taught the world both tolerance and universal acceptance. I am proud to belong to a nation which has sheltered the persecuted and the refugees of all religions and all nations of the earth.

As the different streams having their sources in different places all mingle their water in the sea, so, O Lord, the different paths which people take through different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to Thee.

Sectarianism, bigotry, and its horrible descendant, fanaticism, have long possessed this beautiful earth. They have filled the earth with violence, drenched it often and often with human blood, destroyed civilization and sent whole nations to despair. Had it not been for these horrible demons, human society would be far more advanced than it is now. But their time is come.”

One would have thought that Swamiji’s words, the law-abiding and hard-working contributions of Hindu diaspora in Western countries, and events of the last century culminating in the horrific 9/11 terror attacks, would have led to a universal realisation as below –

But one would be wrong.

How the West perceives Hindu and Islamic civilizations

The years since 9/11 have seen an increasing awareness in Western societies about the dangers of radical Islam. While mainstream political establishments in these countries still toe the politically correct line and are seeing increasing infiltration by Islamist immigrants, there is a small but growing section of thinkers and nativist parties/leaders who understand the nature of the Islamist threat.

However, Hindus would be mistaken if they thought that 9/11, and the dozens of Islamic terror attacks ever since on Western soil, would lead to increased empathy for Hindus who are also fighting the same Islamist threat in Bharat.

A dispassionate analysis of Western academic output (exhibit 1, exhibit 2), mainstream media writings (any article on Bharat by NYT, BBC) and Western government actions, show that the West is hostile, or at best apathetic, to Hindu concerns. They want to partner Bharat for trade and in order to attain their strategic goals such as ‘Pivot to Asia’ to check China’s rise, but are not ready to take Bharat’s concerns seriously.

But what are these Hindu concerns, apart from the obvious funding & supply of weaponry to the terrorist state of Pakistan? Actually, in some ways, America’s continued support to Pakistan is understandable from a realpolitik perspective – after all, Pakistan offers them a toehold in a strategically important geography. For that matter, even Russia, Bharat’s all-weather defence equipment supplier, has recently started warming up to Pakistan. This is expected behaviour in geopolitics.

The real threat from the Western bloc to Bharat, which is not even being discussed at the Government or academic level at the moment, is the deep-rooted distaste for Hindu assertiveness and civilizational aspiration. We are constantly reminded to abide by “India’s tolerant traditions and pluralistic democracy” which we are told is “threatened by Hindu nationalism and religious extremism.” So while the West happily deals with theocratic, undemocratic nations all over the world, its finger-wagging at Bharat never ceases to amaze. “You adolescents mind your manners while we adults discuss grown-up matters”, seems to be the directive for Hindus and Bharat.

The elephant in the room is the Christian missionary-evangelical-NGO complex which has its sights set squarely on ‘transforming’ Bharat – the hub of missionary activity within the 10/40 window. These conversion efforts are tacitly backed at the highest levels of Western nations under the guise of ‘freedom of religion’ & ‘social justice’. Routine admonishments to Bharat and clubbing it with Islamic theocracies or dictatorships like China, North Korea, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan show the true nature of the ‘partnership’ the West claims it wants to develop with Bharat.

Some Western academics even claim that the Hindu religion is an artificial construct. The entrenched Hinduphobia in American academia, and the brazen denial of Hindu agency to represent themselves, is now out in the open.

It is hard to escape the conclusion that at some visceral level, the asymmetry in the West’s relation with Hindus compared to its relation with the Muslim world is due to Abrahamic brotherhood. Bharat is the last standing polytheistic civilisation from the ancient world – is that what drives the animus towards us?

But another facet of this situation is the inability of Hindus to set their own narrative and control the discourse around them. NRI Hindus have mostly focused on material progress and sectors like science & technology, finance, medicine, while immigrants of other countries have also invested in politics, humanities, arts and media.

It is also true that no civilization can build a grand narrative without state support. So while China is setting up Confucius institutes, Muslim nations are funding chairs on Islamic studies and pouring billions to spread Islam, Jews and Israel keep a hawk-eye view on any potential signs of anti-Semitism, even Buddhist nations embrace their civilizational roots, 1 billion Hindus of the world are stateless orphans. We don’t have a single state which truly represents our interests. Unless we have such a state, the religious cleansing & persecution of Hindus in places like Pakistan, Bangladesh and parts of Bharat will never be taken seriously by the world.

Painful and tragic as it was, 11 September 2001 set in motion a chain of events which have transformed the world. A ‘clash of civilizations’ is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it can lead to a rethink of ossified world-views and take humanity forward.

Mujahid Balussery, an Islamic preacher has called for a ‘caliphate’ in the state of Kerala and set the target of making it an Islamic State in 10 years. In one of his videos, he is calling out “Mujahids”( Arabic term for ‘Jihadis’) to convert Kerala into a ‘caliphate’. He says in the video that “Send all Muslims of Kerala to Mujahid mosques just on Fridays and we can turn Kerala into an Islamic State within 10 years.”

He goes on to say, “We have a duty here…. A man can be morally perfect in every way but will be denied heaven if he worships other gods. Because saying ‘Guruvayurappa save me’ is shirk and is a bigger sin than adultery, homosexuality or lending money for interest and the person will go to hell.”

Clearly, the secularism and tolerance, that is so dear to Communists and Secularists of Kerala is a one sided obligation of Hindus. However, it must be remembered that what he says is sanctioned by Islamic religious scriptures. Even Gandhi was condemned to hell by such ‘secular’ leaders as Muhammad Ali, who led the Khilafat movement about a hundred years ago.

In a 2017 video, the same preacher had compared Hindu temples to brothel! “If you donate money to a Hindu temple or festival, you’re encouraging shirk which is the gravest sin. You wouldn’t donate money to a brothel or a pub,” the preacher says in the video. A case was registered against him for the same. He told the court that it was his duty as an Islamic preacher to tell his followers about these things. He got bail on certain conditions including surrendering his passport, and not to commit similar offences in future.

An Islamist plot?

We had discussed in a previous article how the demographic transition in Kerala would lead to it becoming a Muslim majority state with 2-3 decades. Not only Kerala reports an abnormally high birth rate among Muslims, it also sees thousands of cases of Love Jihad every year. Readers may also remember that Kerala is the hub of ISIS recruits in Bharat.

A few days ago, fugitive criminal Islamist Zakir Naik had urged Muslims to migrate to Kerala. Keeping all these in mind, it seems there is a concerted effort among Islamists to make an Islamist state in Kerala. A few days ago an organisation had also demanded a Muslim majority state be carved out of north Kerala and few districts of Tamil Nadu.

The government should arrest Mujahid Balussery for violating his bail terms, conspiring to overthrow the constitution and also for creating communal unrest. A detailed investigation in this Islamist plot needs to be undertaken by a central agency. The Islamist danger in Kerala must not be underestimated and the sooner we realize this, the better.

Sena goons turn Mumbai into PoK, attack retired Navy veteran for forwarding whatsapp message

With each passing day, Shiv Sena is proving how power in the wrong hands leads to arrogance and misgovernance. A 62-year-old retired Navy officer Madan Sharma, residing in Kandivali was attacked by four Shiv Sena hooligans including Shakha Pramukh Kamlesh Kadam for merely forwarding a cartoon on WhatsApp (WA).

As per available information, the cartoon showing Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray bowing down before Sonia Gandhi (Antonio Maino) and Sharad Pawar was being circulated on various Social Media (SM) platforms and the navy veteran had merely forwarded the same.

The cartoon which is being circulated on various platforms

There is nothing derogatory in this cartoon which merely depicts Uddhav’s dependency on Congress and NCP to run the government. Wit and satire have long been accepted as tools to criticize the government in a humorous way. Indeed, the founder of Shiv Sena, Balasaheb Thackeray himself was a cartoonist. He himself used acerbic language and cartoons to criticize political opponents. Considering that Sena needs their support to continue in office as they simply don’t have the numbers to form the government on their own, this picture is merely a reflection of the ground reality.

This, however, did not go down well with the Sena goons, and led by Kadam 8-10 of them reached the building where Shri Sharma resided. Kadam arrived there and asked the ex-navy officer to come down. When the veteran heeded the request and came down, Kamlesh and his goons began thrashing him.

The officer in his statement to the PTI has said “I have worked for the nation my entire life. A government like this should not exist” while adding that 8-10 people attacked him after he received threatening calls for forwarding a message.

An FIR was registered at the Samta Nagar Police Station, However, it must be added that the Mumbai police insisted on taking Sharma with them to the police station, a move that was condemned by the veteran’s daughter. It must be noted that the Mumbai Police has been recently facing severe flak from various quarters for acting under political pressure.

Consider the recent case of Congress activist Saket Gokhale. Gokhale had filed a plea in court against shilanyas of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The court threw him out with his petition. A few people had gathered near his house and raised slogans of “Jai Shree Ram” in protest. No violent actions were done and no property damaged. Still, on a tweet of Gokhale, Mumbai Police arrested four people for saying “Jai Shri Ram”! Home Minister Anil Deshmukh personally assured him of safety on twitter and presumably on phone too.

In another recent case, journalists belonging to Republic TV were arrested because they wanted to cover some news that could be allegedly troublesome for the government. Arnab Goswami himself was interrogated for hours a few weeks ago for taking the name “Antonia Maino” in public and an attempt to assault him was made.

After the pressure from the public, Mumbai Police had to make four arrests in this case including two Shakha Pramukhs Kamlesh Kadam and Sanjay Manjre who have been named as the main accused. What happens now remains to be seen.

We would also like to remind readers that when Kangana Ranaut had spoken about feeling unsafe due to the threats issued by Sena’s Sanjay Raut and asked whether they intended to turn it into PoK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir), the entire government machinery and their Bollywood PR brigade had come out all guns blazing.

However, neither Home Minister Anil Deshmukh not any of the so-called “I love Mumbai” Bollywood PR brigade had anything to say on the hooliganism on display by Sena goons except deafening silence. Since they seem to suffer from some sort of collective convenient amnesia, here’s a picture where Navy veteran Madhav Sharma has been given red-eye by the Sena goons just like the Pakistanis did with our brave Wing Commander Abhinandan.

There have been several attempts by Sena hooligans in recent times to present Uddhav as some larger than life and powerful chief minister, probably to hide the fact that his government has failed on several fronts. Sena workers have gone to the extent of taking offence to the Hindi word tu (you) that Kangana used in her video addressing the CM.

The peddlers of “freedom of expression” and “gunda raj” narratives are usually a noisy lot. However, in this case it seems they have decided that ‘discretion is the better part of valour’. The same was seen in case of Arnab Goswami, and people chanting “Jai Shri Ram”. Indeed, they were vilified as hooligans without them doing any violence! All these are markings of a truly fascist regime which brooks no dissent at all.

The arrogance on display by Shiv Sena hooligans led by Sanjay Raut and the inefficiency displayed by CM Uddhav Thackeray did not go down well with Twitteratis who trended #UddhavResignNow.

Power has gone so much to their heads that Sena is indeed out to prove that they’ll turn Mumbai into PoK. Time to remind them of the saying “absolute abuse of power is an act of arrogance that gets answered at the ballot box”.
