20 incidents of Khalistani harassment of Hindus and attacks on Mandirs across the world

In recent times Khalistani elements have become active, particularly in the UK, America, Canada and Australia. It is apt to highlight that Canadian PM Trudeau has been shielding Khalistanis just like his father Pierre Trudeau had protected Kanishka bombing mastermind Talwinder Parmar.

As Canadian journalist Daniel Bordman highlighted it is Hindus who bear the brunt of Khalistani violence. Here we list some incidents of Khalistani attacks on Hindus:

1) Khalistani Barjinder Singh Parwana got two Hindus arrested under Section 295 A just for selling “Gutka Sahib” in their bookstore along with other books and other religious scriptures. The incident was reported in August from Hindu-dominated Rajpura town located on the Punjab-Haryana border. Parwana has been repeatedly caught harassing and abusing Hindus. He was the main conspirator of the Kali Mata Temple attack.

2) On July 14, a Bharatiya international student was brutally assaulted by four Khalistani supporters around dawn in Australia’s Sydney. The victim, who requested anonymity, was on his way to work at 5.30 AM in Sydney’s western suburb of Merrylands when he was attacked.

3) In an unprovoked act, a Tiranga Car Rally at Griffith in regional New South Wales was attacked on 11 June 2023. Rally participants accused police of bias and prioritising the removal of Indian flags from their cars rather than apprehending the attackers.

4) This April, Khalistanis verbally and physically abused PTI journalist Lalit Jha, who was covering their protests outside the Bhartiya Embassy in Washington DC, USA. He had to be saved from the aggressive mob by the US Secret Service and the local police.

5) In yet another attack on a Bharatiya installation in the UK, this March alleged Khalistani elements targeted a Punjabi restaurant located in Hammersmith, West London, according to an advocacy group. REACH-UK, which advocates for protecting the rights of Bharatiya and ethnic minorities in the UK, shared the footage of the attack on Rangrez Restaurant on its social media handle, urging the Met Police to take swift action against the perpetrators.

6) In March, Bharat’s High Commission in London and San Francisco were attacked by the Sikh extremists.

7) On 20 March 2023 (local time), Indian-origin News Director at Radio AM600 Sameer Kaushal was attacked by a pro-Khalistani group in Canada’s British Columbia.

8) Shree Laxmi Narayan Temple in Australia’s Brisbane became a target of Khalistani Sikh extremists in early March. “Priest and devotees called this morning and notified me about the vandalism on the boundary wall of our temple. We have informed the Queensland police officers, and they assured to ensure the safety of Temple and devotees”, Temple President Satinder Shukla told The Australia Today. The vandalism came days after Bharat’s consulate was attacked in Brisbane.

9) Khalistanis operating freely in Canada desecrated the Ram Mandir in Ontario province’s Mississauga in February. The Mandir was defaced with anti-Bharat and pro-Khalistan graffiti. “Declare Modi terrorist…Sant Bhindranwale is a martyr”, the graffiti read.

10) This February, Kali Mata Mandir in Australia’s Melbourne received threats asking it to cancel a bhajan program because staunch Hindu singer Kanhiya Mittal was invited. An unidentified man called Bhawna, the female priest of Kali Mata mandir and threatened violence if the program was not cancelled

11) In January 2023, Gauri Shankar Mandir in Canada’s Brampton was defaced with anti-Bharat slogans by Khalistanis leaving the Indian community in shock. The Indian Consulate General in Toronto issued a statement condemning the attack.

12) Hindus, Sikhs and other Bharatiya-origin Australian residents holding the tricolour were viciously assaulted by Sikh extremists in Melbourne in January. The attack occurred when pro-Bharat residents were peacefully opposing the ‘Khalistan referendum’ organized by the terrorist organization Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) at Federation Square in Australia’s Melbourne.

13) In January, radical Sikhs vandalised Shri Shiva Vishnu Mandir in Australia’s Victoria with anti-Bharat graffiti, leaving the community in a state of shock. Senthilnathan, along with other devotees, noticed the anti-Bharatiya graffiti saying, ‘Target Modi’ when they came to celebrate the Pongal festival at the temple.

14) On 23 January 2023, Hare Krishna Temple run by the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) at Albert Park in Australia’s Melbourne was attacked by Khalistanis. As per reports, temple walls were defaced with anti-Bharat slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ and ‘Hindustan Murdabad.’ The miscreants had also hailed slain Khalistani terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale as a martyr.

15) On January 11, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Melbourne’s northern suburb of Mill Park was desecrated by Khalistanis. The walls were defaced with anti-Bharat graffiti, saying ‘Hindustan Murdabad’, and also marked with praises of Bharatiya terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale — a supporter of the creation of Khalistan for Sikhs — as a ‘martyr’.

16) Last December, Delhi-based Advocate Vineet Jindal received a death threat via Twitter from a Khalistani organisation for repeatedly raising his voice against the anti-nationals.

17) In November 2022, Hindu leader Sudhir Suri belonging to Shiv Sena (Taksali) was shot dead by a member of the Amritpal-led Khalistani outfit Waris Punjab De (WPD) in front of police in Punjab’s Amritsar. Sudhir Suri was killed in broad daylight when he and others from his outfit were sitting on a dharna outside the local Gopal Mandir on Majitha Road, a busy market area of the city. They were protesting against the temple management after some broken murtis were found dumped in garbage near the temple.

18) Last September, Khalistani terrorists defaced BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Toronto with anti-Bharat slogans.

19) In May 2022, Khalistan banners were hoisted and graffiti was painted on the outer boundary of the Vidhan Sabha in Himachal Pradesh’s Dharamsala. The state police registered a first information report (FIR) against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, General Counsel to the banned Sikhs for Justice (SFJ). Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) was added to the FIR.

20) In April 2022, a sword-wielding Khalistani mob attacked the Kali temple in Patiala. In a video of the incident, it was seen that the armed Nihang Sikhs, part of the pro-Khalistani mob that attacked the Kali temple, also stormed into the shops to assault innocent Hindu shopkeepers. The Sikh mob was seen entering the temple premises to attack shops in the presence of the police officials.
