In Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh, a disturbing incident has been reported involving the alleged abduction and assault of a minor Dalit Hindu girl by Islamists. According to initial reports, the perpetrators forcibly took the girl to nearby fields where she was subjected to a traumatic ordeal of gang-rape.
The victim’s father, upon discovering his daughter in an unconscious state around 4 AM, took swift action by filing a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused.
In a statement, the victim’s father highlighted a distressing pattern of harassment and harm inflicted upon Hindu girls in the area by Islamists. Despite the frequency of such incidents, he expressed frustration over the lack of effective measures taken to address and prevent such atrocities.
The father, in a video, states, “We are from the Harijan community. We neither have land nor a place to live. The women in our families are raped, no one takes care of us. Politicians do come, but they just listen and go away.
What happened was that the girl went missing in the evening, Muslims abducted her, they kept her hidden from us all night, we were looking for her. We couldn’t find her all night. We found her unconscious early next morning at 4 AM. We brought her home and went to the police station to file a complaint. There is no one to listen to our complaints here.
Those people came to threaten us, Muslims came, and they came with lathis to threaten us, but no one listens to us. We are compelled to say, please listen to us, protect us poor. We do not have toilets or any land to call our own. Around 300 families live here. We do manual labour and earn our keep. This girl is 15 years old.”
Incidents like these have occurred in Lakhimpur Kheri over the years.
Just recently, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly raped for 3 days and her face was branded by the accused, Aman, for rejecting his marriage proposal.
Incidents like these underscore the urgent need for authorities to address not only the immediate concerns of the affected family but also the broader issue of ensuring the safety and security of vulnerable Hindu communities.
