दिल्ली में पिछले वर्ष लाल किले पर हुई हिंसा के आरोपी पंजाबी कलाकार दीप सिद्धू की एक सड़क दुर्घटना में मृत्यु हो गयी। मीडिया की रिपोर्ट्स के अनुसार दीप सिद्धू की मृत्यु तब हुई जब वह अपने दोस्तों के साथ दिल्ली से पंजाब जा रहे थे।

दीप सिद्धू के इस असमय निधन पर सोशल मीडिया विभाजित है और तरह तरह की प्रतिक्रिया दे रहा है। दरअसल दीप सिद्धू किसान आन्दोलन के समय चर्चा में आए थे जब उनपर एक ओर खालिस्तानी विचारधारा के निकट होने के आरोप लग रहे थे और यही नहीं जब उन्होंने लाल किले पर खालसा का झंडा फहराया था, तो उस समय उन पर भारतीय जनता पार्टी के नज़दीकी होने के भी आरोप लगे थे।

Multiple people were injured, some seriously, after a fight broke out between Muslim and Christian community members in Lahore on Monday over an argument regarding the construction of a wall in the neighbourhood, Express Tribune reported.
The incident happened in the Factory Area of the provincial capital. Soon after the clash was reported, a contingent of law enforcers, including SP, Cantonment, Essa Sukhera, reached the spot. The situation was brought under control and one individual was arrested.
The CCPO in Lahore also took notice of the incident.
Police sources said the cause of the incident was a local dispute and did not have any religious connection, the report said.

A shocking video shared on social media (SM) shows Hindu women being forced to remove their mangalsutra before entering the exam hall. Available information suggests that the exam was for obtaining government jobs.

The video has been made by a common citizen who rues the fact that Hindu women weren’t allowed entry into the exam hall and had to remove their mangalsutras only because they wanted to obtain government jobs.
A similar incident was reported in October last year from Rajasthan’s Bikaner where the sleeves of dresses of women attending the Rajasthan Administrative Services examination were cut off. The National Commission for Women had taken cognizance of the incident.
“The NCW has said that it has come across an outrageous media post wherein a male security guard can be seen cutting the sleeves of a top worn by a female candidate outside an examination centre for Rajasthan Administrative Services, 2021 in Bikaner district, and it is appalled at the reported incident…The commission has also demanded an explanation as to why no female guard was deputed to search female candidates at the centre”, reportedOpIndia.
As expected, none of these incidents caught the eye of the liberal brigade and media who have been seething with rage only because girl students were asked not to sport the hijab in keeping with the long-standing tradition of attending classes in uniforms. It isn’t hard to guess why the manufactured hijab row is a cause of concern for the cabal but Hindu women being forced to remove the mangalsutra, which is important to married women, isn’t.
Even so-called women’s rights groups and feminists (read feminazis) have often exhibited their double standards and hypocrisy. For them, anything associated with Hindus is ‘regressive and patriarchal’ while anything associated with Islam, no matter how regressive, is a matter of choice! If security or cheating concerns are cited as reasons for asking female candidates to take off their mangalsutras, then aren’t hijabs/burqas a bigger threat on both counts?
The same set of feminists who hail the hijab as a ‘symbol of liberty’ hold that the ghunghat is a sign of ‘oppression’. It is, therefore, too much to expect them to be objective and rational. The less said about Bharatiya media the better. Not just Hindu religious occasions, like Diwali, Shivratri, Holi, etc. but social rituals followed by the Hindus have become the target of the anti-Hindu establishment.
One such social occasion is the Vedic wedding of the Hindus, rituals of which have been vilified several times by critics with questionable intellectual capacity. While the Manyavar Ad featuring Alia Bhatt vilified Hindu wedding rituals, ToI carried an article by Debomitra Das demanding a ban on several Bharatiya marriage customs.
Let alone outrage, one can expect the liberal elites and English-language media to turn a convenient blind eye to the Andhra Pradesh incident because it neither fits in with their narrative nor suits their anti-Hindu propaganda.
आँध्रप्रदेश में प्रेम स्वरूपी मिनिस्ट्रीज़ पर पुलिस ने छापा मारकर चार लोगों को हिरासत में लिया है। यदि आप प्रेम स्वरूप मिनिस्ट्रीज़ सुनकर हैरान हो रहे हैं, तो हर प्रकार का संशय मिटा दीजिये क्योंकि पास्टर प्रेमा दास ( ए. अनिल कुमार ) को पुलिस ने गिरफ्तार किया है। वह पहले रेलवे में टीटीई था और उसने अपनी नौकरी से इस्तीफा दे दिया था, अपने परिवार को छोड़ दिया था और वह तेलंगाना टुडे के अनुसार उसने ईसाई मिशनरी का काम करना इसलिए शुरू कर दिया था क्योंकि उसे बहुत आकर्षक लगा था।
उसने प्रेम स्वरुप मिनिस्ट्रीज़ नामक मिशनरी की स्थापना की, जैसा कि उसकी वेबसाईट की आर्काइव से पता चलता है कि वर्ष 2015 में इस संस्था की स्थापना की गयी थी। उसने एक दो मंजिला मकान भी बनाया और उसमें इसके काम शुरू कर दिए, फिर उसने ईसाई रिलिजन की शिक्षाएं देने के लिए 17 औरतों को लालच दिया और फिर उन्हें पायकाराओपेटा में मिनिस्ट्रीज़ के परिसर में रखा।
इन सभी औरतों का केवल यौन शोषण ही नहीं करता था, बल्कि वह पिछले चार वर्षों से यह भी कहकर धमका रहा था कि अगर वह परिसर को छोड़ने की कोशिश भी करती हैं तो उन्हें उसका भुगतान भुगतना पड़ेगा । पीड़िताओं ने पुलिस को यह बताया कि ऐसा नहीं है कि केवल महिलाओं का ही यौन शोषण किया जा रहा है, बल्कि इसके साथ ही सात लड़के भी हैं, जिन्हें वहां जबरन रखा गया और गुलाम बनाकर काम पर रखा गया और उन्हें प्रताड़ित भी किया गया।
मिनिस्ट्रीज़ क्या होती है?
जिसे भारत के शब्दकोष में मंत्रालय कहकर भाषांतरित किया गया है, उस मिनिस्ट्रीज़ के विषय में पाठकों को जानना चाहिए कि वह एक कांसेप्ट अर्थात अवधारणा है। मिनिस्ट्रीज़ का अर्थ होता है कि ईसाई रिलिजन के प्रचार और प्रसार के लिए की जाने वाली गतिविधि, जिसका एक ही उद्देश्य है कि दुनिया में हर जगह ईसा मसीह के संदेशों को फैलाना। कहा जाता है कि हर सच्चे ईसाई को रिलिजन का प्रचार करते रहना चाहिए।”
भारत में आप मंत्रालय के खिलाफ तो बोल सकते हैं और मीडिया भी मंत्रालयों के उन मंत्रियों के खिलाफ बोलता है, जो उसके इकोसिस्टम के बाहर के होते हैं, परन्तु वह “मिनिस्ट्रीज़” के विरुद्ध नहीं जा सकता है। और ईसाई मिनिस्ट्रीज़ के खिलाफ तो मीडिया एक शब्द भी नहीं बोलता, बल्कि वह पीड़ितों को ही कठघरे में खड़ा करता है, इसलिए पीड़ितों से जब पुलिस ने संपर्क किया तो पहले तो पास्टर के डर से उन्होंने मुंह नहीं खोला और पुलिस को यह भी पता चला कि पास्टर ए अनिल कुमार ने गॉड के नाम पर बहुत पैसा बनाया है!
मिनिस्ट्रीज का एक यूट्यूब चैनल भी था, जिसके माध्यम से वह लोगों की पीड़ा दूर करने का दावा करता था और बेरोजगारों की पीड़ा दूर करने का दावा करता था। और नौकरी और इलाज के बहाने से न जाने कितना पैसा ठगता था। पुलिस अब जांच कर रही है और पीड़ितों को मेडिकल टेस्ट के लिए भेजा गया है।
5 फरवरी की तेलंगाना टुडे की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, इस मामले में चार लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया गया है। यह स्पष्ट नहीं है कि गिरफ्तार लोगों में पास्टर ए. अनिल कुमार भी शामिल हैं या नहीं। आरोप है कि आरोपी पादरी पूर्वी गोदावरी जिले की एक महिला राजेश्वरी के साथ रह रहा था, जो उसके अपराधों में भी भागीदार थी। पुलिस राजेश्वरी की भी तलाश कर रही है।
पुलिस ने मिनिस्ट्रीज की इमारत को सील कर दिया है और साथ ही 30 में से 8 लोगों को उनके घर भेज दिया है। क्योंकि 20 लोगों ने वह स्थान छोड़ने से इंकार कर दिया था।
जो भी शिकायतें आई हैं, वह भीतर तक दहला देने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं। एक रिपोर्ट में यह उल्लेख है कि शिकायत करने वाली महिला बीटेक थी और वह एक निजी कंपनी में काम कर रही थी, जब पादरी अनिल कुमार ने उसे अपनी मिनिस्ट्रीज की इमारत में रहने के लिए इस हद तक बाध्य कर दिया था कि वह सब कुछ छोड़कर वहीं रहने लगी। वह दिमाग को इस कदर अपने कब्ज़े में लेता था कि पकड़ में आने वाला व्यक्ति अपना सब कुछ छोड़कर, उसके जाल में फंस जाता है। इस रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि पादरी के खिलाफ आईपीसी की धारा 376, 344, 354, 506, 493, 374, 312, एससी/एसटी अत्याचार अधिनियम के तहत मामला दर्ज किया गया है।
पूरे देश में ऐसी ‘मिनिस्ट्रीज’ बेख़ौफ़, बेरोकटोक और निर्बाध रूप से चल रही हैं, और मीडिया इनके द्वारा किए जा रहे कार्यों की कोई समीक्षा नहीं करता है, जैसा वह हिन्दू धर्मगुरुओं की करता है। इनके खिलाफ कोई भी शिकायत आती है तो मीडिया उसे मात्र एक छोटी घटना बनाकर प्रस्तुत करता है, जबकि संविधान में यह पूरी तरह से स्पष्ट किया गया है कि आप अपने रिलिजन के प्रचार के लिए झूठ या लोभ और लालच का सहारा नहीं ले सकते हैं।
परन्तु हिन्दू साधु संतों की लिंचिंग पर भी मौन रहने वाला मीडिया, पूरे देश में कुकुरमुत्तों की तरह पनपते इन स्वयंभू ईसाई मसीहाओं पर संज्ञान नहीं लेता है। हर पास्टर की अपनी अलग अलग मिनिस्ट्री होती है। पंजाब में अंकुर नरूला की अपनी मिनिस्ट्री है, और उसकी वेबसाईट पर लिखा है कि अंकुर नरुला की मिनिस्ट्री पंजाब में सबसे अधिक तेजी से बढ़ने वाली और सबसे बड़ी मिनिस्ट्री है!
हिन्दू साधु संतों पर वेब्सीरीज़ बनाने वाले भी इन मिनिस्ट्रीज़ पर चुप्पी साध जाते हैं
बिना किसी प्रमाण में हिन्दू साधु संतों को खलनायक बनाने वाले फिल्म निर्माता भी इन सभी मिनिस्ट्रीज़ पर चुप्पी साधते हैं। दरअसल यह लोग इतने इन मिनिस्ट्रीज़ से सधे होते हैं, कि वह इन्हें कई तरीकों से साध लेते हैं। न ही इन लड़कियों की पीड़ा मीडिया को पिघला पाती है और न ही फिल्म निर्माताओं को! एकतरफा बदनाम करने के लिए यह सभी फिल्मनिर्माता हिन्दू धर्म के साधुसंतों को शिकार और निशाना बनाते हैं और यह ओह माई गॉड, या फिर भूल भुलैया या फिर पीके और हाल ही में आश्रम जैसी फिल्मों और वेबसीरीज़ से पता चलता है।
यह मिनिस्ट्रीज इतनी शक्तिशाली हैं कि मीडिया भी इनके विषय में लिखते समय उदार हो जाता है
कथित उदारवादी मीडिया भी इन मिनिस्ट्रीज़ के विषय में लिखते समय इतना उदार हो जाता है कि वह पीड़िताओं को ही कठघरे में खड़ा करते हुए कथित जैसा कुछ प्रयोग कर देता है। जैसा द हिन्दू ने किया। उसने इसका विवरण लिखते समय उसे कोट कर दिया, अर्थात एक संशय उत्पन्न कर दिया। जबकि आप देखिये कि जहां पर ईसाई पास्टर आरोपी नहीं था, वहां पर उसने यह संशय जताता हुआ निशान नहीं लगाया है!
कहना न होगा कि असली मंत्रालय से शक्तिशाली यह मिनिस्ट्रीज हैं, मीडिया इनके विषय में बोलने से, इनके विरुद्ध आवाज उठाने से डरता है!

The chief minister lashed out at SP and said, “The SP’s basic objective is to patronise criminals and think about the welfare of only one family. There used to be bombing during the day time and robbery in the night. The mafia had no fear of law and used to grab the property of the common man.”
He said the level of anarchy was so high that people were afraid of coming out of their houses. “There used to be riots during festivals and curfews were imposed for months,” he said.
“For SP, socialism is anarchy, corruption, dynastic rule, mafia, loot and terrorism. When the BJP came to power, criminals had to flee. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav gets restless whenever we speak about bulldozers, because unaccounted cash was recovered from the house of his friend who traded in perfume,” Yogi Adityanath said.
He further said that the Akhilesh government was not interested in the upliftment of the poor, protection of women, and jobs and employment to youth. The SP was more concerned about the terrorists who attacked Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya and CRPF camp in Rampur.
“Cases lodged against them were taken back by the SP when it came to power in 2012,” he said, adding that during the SP regime, mafia and goons used to fly in helicopters and were honoured.
Yogi said his government worked for the welfare of the poor while the SP government stopped pension of the elderly and widows.
He said that no electricity was provided even to the land of sage Mayan which contributed to raising the flag of Bharat’s ‘Sanatan Dharma’ since time immemorial.
“Those who looted your schemes, ate poor’s ration, pocketed funds for roads and electricity and pension for widows and elderly, and occupied houses of the poor are being searched by us. We have a stick of development in one hand and a lever of bulldozer against the mafia in the other,” he said while attacking the Yadav clan.

The first engineering course in the Marathi medium has received a good response from students with all the 68 seats taken in Pimpri Chinchwad College of Engineering (PCCOE), the only college that offers it, reportsTimes of India.
The report adds –
“The officials said that they are offering lectures in a blend of English and Marathi with an option to students that they can write answers during examinations in any of the two languages. Students on the other hand have varied reasons to choose this course.
While the majority said that they were more comfortable learning concepts in Marathi and asking doubts in Marathi as compared to English, some said that they did not mind the medium as long as they were getting admission in computer science branch.
G N Kulkarni, director of PCCOE, said, “We have an intake of 68 and it is full. The teachers are teaching in both Marathi and English. The learning material is in English as of now but students can choose the mode of examination as either English or Marathi. Faculty members teaching this division are well versed with the language and have also undergone training in the same. We are also thinking of appointing two Marathi language experts if the need arises.”
On whether the college will open more divisions in Marathi in different branches of engineering, Kulkarni said that he would like to wait for four years for these students to graduate and depending on their placements, think about emulating it in other branches.
Sanjivani Sonar, head of the department of Computer Engineering in Regional Language at PCCOE, said that the highest and lowest cut-off percentile in the batch has been 97.01 and 92.33 (general) respectively. About 66.7% of the students are from urban background while the remaining come from rural areas and about 75% of the students completed their schooling (till class X) in English medium schools.
“We also conducted a survey to get feedback from the students and it has been very positive. There are about 7% students enrolled whose mother tongue is not even Marathi,” Sonar said.
This is a welcome development, although the lack of course learning material in Marathi is disappointing. Making higher education available in Bharatiya languages is the first step, equally crucial is developing pathways to employment for such students in collaboration with industry, along with developing a thriving translation and publishing sector for world-class technical content to be made available in native languages. Both central and state governments must facilitate this on a war-footing.
It is telling that despite 75% of all students who opted for this Marathi-medium engineering course having done schooling in English medium schools, the majority still said they were more comfortable learning concepts in Marathi and asking doubts in Marathi as compared to English.
Even the schools and colleges which currently offer only English-medium college should take this learning to heart – do not discourage students from asking doubts or expressing themselves in their mother tongue. One hopes the days when convent schools imposed fines or punished students for even talking in their mother tongue during recess or breaks are past us – shaming children for expressing themselves in the language they are most comfortable is a human rights violation and a marker of mental colonization.
English language proficiency is NOT a measure of intellectual ability – this message must be drilled into heads of all our policy makers, intelligentsia and academia. The kind of arrogance and contempt for ordinary citizens our system of English apartheid has bred in elites like Mahua Moitra is beyond belief.
One hopes that what this college in Pimpri-Chinchwad has done is emulated elsewhere. Madhya Pradesh has also made similar attempts, despite opposition from usual corners, and this is an ongoing exercise that will require larger allocation of resources to create high-quality content in Bharatiya languages and train teachers too. A mixed Hindi-English approach to learning and teaching will be the best for Hindi-speaking states, and likewise in other states. English must be taught, but just as a link language to the outer world.
If we really want to join the league of developed nations, we must study how countries like Japan, Korea, China made the leap from agrarian to industrialized societies. Persisting with an English-language barrier to higher education/knowledge/employment for 90-95% of our population that cannot speak the English language, is just inhuman and a relic of the mental colonization we have failed to shake off even 75 years after Independence.
The CBI on Monday said that it has filed an FIR against eight former Central Railway officials and others for allegedly causing the Railways a loss of over Rs 22 crore by allotting tenders to selective suppliers and buying items on exorbitant prices.
A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) official said that they conducted searches at 12 locations belonging to the accused, and recovered some incriminating documents.
The official said that the case was registered against Ved Prakash, then Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer, Kurla, Vijay Kumar, then Assistant Divisional Electrical Engineer, Suresh Vithal Kapare, then Senior Material Manager, Sureshchandra G. Baria and D.D. Sorte, both then Senior Section Engineers, Kurla, H.S. Gomes and Anjali Gupta, both then Chief Office Superintendents, Arun Pratap Shriram, then Divisional Electrical Engineer, Kurla, Central Railway and unknown others.
The CBI said that the accused had entered into conspiracy with private suppliers for purchasing of non-store items at higher costs, in exchange for illegal monetary benefits from them.
“Ambiguous description of items were mentioned in such a manner that it could not be procured from GeM Portal and not be understood by other suppliers, except some set of suppliers who were involved in the conspiracy,” said the CBI official.
The official said this resulted in limited tendering and as such, the tenders were allotted to the selective suppliers and goods, to the tune of Rs 22.60 crore, allegedly procured on exorbitant rates.

Pakistani dealerships of MNCs such as Hyundai, Suzuki, Honda, KFC, Kia, Toyota, Isuzu, Domino’s, Pizza Hut made these tweets. As expected, this attracted an extremely sharp reaction from Bharat, and people started making demands for the boycott of all these companies in Bharat.
What is Kashmir Solidarity Day?
Kashmir Solidarity Day was started by Pakistani spy agency ISI and terrorist group Jamaat-e-Islami in 1990. This propaganda has been orchestrated in the name of Kashmir and Kashmiris, However, it has no connection with the welfare of Kashmiris, instead, it is organized by the banned terrorist organizations, who are sending terrorists to kill innocent Kashmiris for several decades.
Pakistan misused this propaganda to trap Bharat at international forums and the sole idea is to keep Kashmir Issue alive. Pakistani government calls notorious terrorists like Hafiz Saeed as keynote speakers in their event which is in itself an indication of their intentions behind celebrating this imaginary event.
Pakistan’s 5th Generation Warfare attack on Bharat
As we know, all these tweets or posts were made by Pakistani dealerships of respective MNCs. Most of these dealerships or establishments are managed or owned by ex-Pak Army officers, politicians, and influential businessmen. These companies do not even have head offices or manufacturing plants in Pakistan. Pakistan misused the credibility of these brands and let their local dealerships make these posts to impose a 5th generation warfare on us without firing any bullets.
It was a mischievous game of Pakistan with two broad objectives. On one hand, Pakistan successfully brought the ‘Kashmir Issue’ back on the International forum. This led to an aggressive reaction from Bharat, as millions of people were protesting against the Bharatiya counterpart of these MNCs, vowed to never buy anything from them, canceled their bookings, etc. This created negative sentiments in our corporates and led to a situation of anxiety. Well, that’s exactly what Pakistan wanted at this critical juncture when Bharat is recovering from COVID’s impact.
How Bharat Fought back and Knocked Down Pakistan?
The moment this news broke, our people launched a campaign on social media, asking questions of the MNCs, asking them to apologize, and make their stand clear on Kashmir Issue. This time several senior officials, dignitaries, and renowned personalities also supported this trend, and openly expressed their views against these MNCs.

As the pressure of citizens was mounting, the Ministry of External Affairs stepped in and immediately started communicating with the countries these MNCs belong to. South Korea’s ambassador to Bharat Chang Jae-Bok was summoned and apprised of Bharat’s “strong displeasure” over “an unacceptable social media post”. It was underlined that the matter pertains to the territorial integrity of Bharat and no compromise can be reached.
A stern message was given to all countries, including the USA, that Bharat would not tolerate such an act. Our government insisted that these countries and MNCs must frame robust guidelines to take corrective actions and prevent such issues in the future.
Bharat’s Foreign Ministry’s tough stance forced the South Korean Foreign Ministry to immediately express their regret. Thereafter, all these MNCs also tendered their unconditional apologies from their official accounts. These MNCs strongly condemned the tweets and posts of their dealerships in Pakistan and assured Bharat of making strong arrangements to prevent any such incident from now on.

There is no doubt that this was an outcome of the tough stance of Bharat’s people and the government. All the foreign brands have bowed down, which proved the strength of Bharat. It also proved that no one can play with the sovereignty of Bharat anymore.
Here it is important to understand that the way the foreign nations and MNCs apologized and promised to take corrective action is indeed surprising. The way our Ministry of External Affairs has put pressure on these countries is worth appreciation.
What’s in for Pakistan?
The brunt of these actions will have to be borne by Pakistan because now these MNCs are preparing to take stringent action against their local dealerships including drastic steps like closing the dealerships. This will certainly have a deep impact on the economic situation of Pakistan, as any MNC will now be afraid to do business there, and even if they do, they will do so by making such strict rules that from now on Pakistan cannot carry out such a proxy attack on Bharat by placing a gun on their shoulders.
Bharat used its economic dominance and the huge market as a weapon therby taking out the wind of Pakistan’s proxy war. However, the credit must go to the people of the country, who by reacting strongly to Pakistan’s nefarious acts, not only pressurized the government to take drastic steps but also gave a very strong message to the corporate world that when it comes to the country, there won’t be any compromise and we can take on anyone.
An exhibition of visual arts organised at Banaras Hindu University has led to a major controversy.
Amresh Kumar, assistant professor of Visual Arts himself, has superimposed his picture on a painting of Bhagwan Shri Ram and his wife’s face on the picture of Sita.
The exhibition has been organised in the Faculty of Visual Arts of Banaras Hindu University.
Angry students are now demanding action against Amresh Kumar and have accused him of inciting religious sentiments.
Amresh Kumar said that this is not a big deal, because Ram belongs to everyone. He did not take further questions on the matter.
The BHU administration has, so far, remained silent on the controversy.
The students have said that if action was not taken at the earliest, they would start a protest.

A special CBI court in Ranchi on Tuesday convicted Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in the Rs 139.35 crore Doranda treasury scam, the fifth fodder scam case, after which he has been taken into judicial custody.
The former Bihar chief minister has filed a plea in the CBI court seeking bail. He said in the plea that if not granted bail, he should be sent to judicial custody in Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) as he is unwell. The quantum of punishment will be announced on February 21.
Beside Lalu Prasad, the court has convicted 74 others including former MP Jagadish Sharma, Public Accounts Committee president Dhruv Bhagat in the case while 24 have been acquitted for want of evidence. Thirty-six convicted persons have been sentenced up to three years in jail.
Earlier, the former Bihar chief minister was found guilty in four cases related to the Rs 950 crore fodder scam, and is serving a sentence of 27.5 years of imprisonment. In the fifth case related to the scam, an FIR was lodged in the Doranda police station in 1996 and later the CBI took over the case for investigation.
Crores of rupees were illegally withdrawn in the name of transporting animals and arranging fodder for them in Bihar’s animal husbandry department. The animals included bull, buffalo, cow, goat and sheep. The documents submitted by the department regarding the transportation were found to be fake. The vehicle numbers shown in the documents were of scooters, mopeds and motorcycles.
The cases occurred during the period of 1990-1996. The Bihar CAG had sent the information about the graft to the government time and again, but the government did not pay heed to it. The CBI produced the documents in the court, which showed that then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad, despite knowing everything, did not take any action. Lalu also held the portfolio of Finance Ministry.
Earlier, the former Chief Minister has been to prison six times, but was granted bail by the High Court each time. In fact, Supreme Court granted him bail within 2 months of his first conviction in the fodder scam cases.

How does a man convicted by trial court, get bail from a higher court? Apparently, Section 389 of the CRPC is how an accused can get bail even after conviction:
If the lower court passed the order of conviction against such accused person & against such order of conviction if the accused prefer an appeal in an appellate court, then in such cases appellate court can suspend the sentence against which such appeal was made by the accused till the time appeal is disposed off or if the accused is in the custody, then in such cases appellate court can order such person to be released on bail ….its upon the discretion of the appellate court that whether it will provide a bail or not to the accused.
Obviously, an influential politician like Lalu, a leading member of the Congress ecosystem, will have no dearth of lawyers like Kapil Sibal to file petitions in higher courts and drag the matter. And as we saw in the Yakub Memon case, our judiciary’s gates are always open – even for last-minute hearings after midnight – for select causes and people. But some other petitions are curtly rebuffed with tongue-lashings.
This is how Lalu has ‘served time’ following his convictions:
Sept 2013: Sent to jail after first conviction in the 6 fodder scam cases.
Dec 2013: SC grants bail within 2 months.
Dec, 2017: Convicted and sent to jail in others fodder scam cases.
March 2018: After spending two months in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi, Lalu developed ‘health complications’ in March 2018 and was moved to the hospital. Since then, he never returned to jail. After a steep surge in Covid-19 cases in August 2020, he was moved from the RIMS paying ward to the hospital’s director’s bungalow.
Feb 15, 2022: Convicted in sixth case, sent to judicial custody, sentence to be announced.
So in total, Lalu Prasad Yadav has spent the grand amount of 4 months in jail, despite technically being sentenced to 27.5 years in prison (not concurrent sentences, but to served one after the other)! Lower court judges like Special CBI Judge Shivpal Singh take immense risk while passing sentences against dangerous and corrupt politicians like Lalu, but senior judges then grant bail – what can be more demoralizing for honest judges?
Judicial corruption is an ugly reality of our Republic which is barely discussed. Judiciary is also struggling for credibility due to its opaque Collegium System of appointing SC and HC judges. Major reforms in this important cog of our governance system are long overdue.
But at least we are seeing convictions for corruption by lower courts now- something that was unimaginable during the UPA regime when Lalu was a Union minister for many years and giving lectures in management at IIMs, as one twitter user reminded.
However, Hinduphobic propaganda outlets like The Wire, funded by philanthropy of top business honchos, celebrate the release of such corrupt politicians and build him up as a ‘messiah of the poor’!
Will senior judiciary, so fond of issuing sermons to ordinary people on secularism and civic values, kindly explain why Lalu is roaming free despite being ‘sentenced’ to a 27.5 year prison term. Will the sentence in this fifth fodder scam also prove to be a similar eyewash with the convict flitting between token time in jail and then off to luxury hospital rooms and home?
If our judiciary cannot give meaningful punishment to criminals convicted for their crimes, how can we expect to deter future crime? And while high-powered criminals abuse the system with impunity, moving petition after petition through expensive Lutyens’ lawyers, poor undertrials arrested for petty crime languish in jail for years waiting for milords to start hearing the case.
