Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 10 August to 16 August 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) At a discussion forum organized by Dravidianist propaganda YouTube channel called “The Debate” filmmaker Ameer made pointed attacks on Sanatana Dharma and Brahmins. Positioning himself as an outsider to caste due to his Muslim upbringing, Ameer accused “Aryans” of creating the caste system, linked honour killings to Hindu epics, and openly backed the DMK as the “more positive” force in Tamil Nadu politics.
2) A controversy broke out in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district after the principal of a convent school allegedly handed out alphabet charts containing Islamic references. Officials stated that Baby Convent School principal I.A. Qureshi allegedly distributed Hindi alphabet charts to students, which included references such as ‘Ka’ for Kaaba, ‘Ma’ for Masjid, and ‘Na’ for Namaz. The incident has prompted the education department to launch an investigation.
4) In Pension Mohalla of Karnataka’s Hassan, three men—identified as Abdul Aftab, Razak Pasha, and Imran—allegedly targeted a young Hindu girl suffering from mental disabilities, abducted her, subjected her to a brutal gang rape, and even filmed the horrific ordeal. The ghastliness of the act was amplified when the perpetrators, in a deliberate attempt to humiliate and psychologically torment the family, sent the obscene video directly to the victim’s brother.
5) Police have announced a reward of ₹40,000 for information leading to the arrest of Congress Councillor Anwar Qadri, who has been declared a fugitive by the court in connection with a forced conversion case. Qadri is accused of providing financial assistance for activities linked to love jihad and Islamic forced conversions.
6) Tensions gripped Padohiya village in UP’s (Uttar Pradesh) Bahraich district after the temple of local deity Gavat Mata was vandalised. The attackers damaged the murti, felled four neem trees surrounding the sacred site, and inverted a Hanuman flag, actions that locals described as a deliberate assault on their faith.
7) A decade-long menace of forced religious conversions in the Kukurbera settlement has finally come under the spotlight. Locals have raised serious allegations that Christian missionaries have been exploiting the vulnerable residents of this settlement for over ten years by forcibly converting them under the pretext of prayer meetings. This illegal activity has now culminated in a police crackdown and FIR registration against two individuals, including a woman, accused of coercive conversion tactics.
8) Security concerns have escalated in the sacred town of Puri following the discovery of threatening graffiti on the walls of a temple near the Jagannath Temple (Srimandir), sparking panic among residents and prompting swift action from law enforcement. The alarming graffiti appeared on August 13 at the Budhi Maa Thakurani temple, located near the Balisahi entrance of the Heritage Corridor (Parikrama Prakalpa), adjacent to the southern side of the Srimandir. The messages, inscribed in multiple locations, included chilling phrases such as “Terrorists will destroy the temple” and specifically mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
9) In yet another disturbing incident from Kerala that has gone largely unreported by both local and national media, the Parameshwari Guru Muthappan Temple in Thachampara, Mannarkkad (Palakkad district) was attacked. The assailants broke the temple door, vandalized flex boards installed at various locations, and allegedly attempted to dislodge the murti. Stones were also thrown at the house of the temple priest, located next to the shrine. The motor in the temple well was destroyed. Police have arrested two individuals, Hamsa (50) and Sajeer (46), both residents of Chooriyod in connection with the attack.
10) Kondagaon district police have taken swift action against five individuals, including a minor, who committed an outrageous act of desecration against the murtis of Hindu deities. The accused filmed themselves engaging in highly objectionable acts with the murtis at Shri Ram Van Gaman Path, Ram Vatika in Nathianvagav, Kanker, and circulated the video on social media.
11) Amid the identification and detention of Bangladeshi Muslim infiltrators who have been illegally living in Bharat, West Bengal Police arrested a illegal intruder from Baruipur of South 24 Parganas. The arrested Bangladeshi has been identified as Kwari Mollah. He has been living in the Baruipur Municipality area using fake documents.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) Ruplal Das (40) and Pradip Das (35) were lynched to death by a Muslim mob in Burirhat village under Taraganj Upazila of the Rangpur district. Ruplal Das and Pradip Das, visiting for a marriage discussion, mistakenly entered Burirhat, were falsely accused as thieves, lynched by Muslims and died of their injuries subsequently.
World
1) In a disturbing escalation of anti-Hindu hate crimes in the United States, a BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Greenwood, Indiana, has been vandalized with anti-Bharat and anti-Modi graffiti, allegedly by pro-Khalistan separatists.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
