Five, including a minor, arrested for vulgar desecration of Hindu murthis at Shri Ram Van Gaman Path, Chhattisgarh

Kondagaon district police have taken swift action against five individuals, including a minor, who committed an outrageous act of desecration against the murthis of Hindu deities. The accused filmed themselves engaging in highly objectionable acts with the murthis at Shri Ram Van Gaman Path, Ram Vatika in Nathianvagav, Kanker, and circulated the video on social media.

As per Naidunia, the incident, which amounts to a grave insult to Hindu beliefs, triggered strong resentment among the local Hindu community. On August 10, Akhilesh Mishra, a resident of Kanker, lodged a written complaint stating that certain anti-social elements deliberately insulted Hindu deities by filming vulgar acts with Hindu murthis and making the footage public online. This, he stated, deeply hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

Acting promptly, Kanker Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police I.K. Elisella. Additional SP Dinesh Kumar Sinha and SDOP Mohsin Khan supervised the case, forming a special police team to track the accused. Based on intelligence inputs, teams were dispatched to Farasgaon and Kondagaon to locate and apprehend the culprits.

In a coordinated joint operation, the Kondagaon and Kanker Police successfully apprehended all five accused involved in the desecration incident. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sanjoo Markam (21), Shillal Korraam (26), Lochan Kumar Chakradhari (25), and Mahesh Korraam (26), along with a minor whose name has been withheld due to legal restrictions. All of them are residents of Manjhapara Aloor, Farasgaon, in the Kondagaon district. Following their arrest, the accused were presented before the Kanker court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.

The operation was carried out under the leadership of Kanker Police Station in-charge Inspector Manish Nagar and Ajak Police Station in-charge Inspector Ramkumar Saw, with active involvement from Sub-Inspectors Surendra Manikpuri and Manorath Joshi, Omprakash Krishan, Shakti Singh, and the Kanker Police patrolling unit. This firm and swift police action stands as a clear warning that any act of desecration against Hindu sacred sites and murthis will be met with uncompromising legal consequences, ensuring the protection of the faith and sentiments of millions.
