Police have announced a reward of ₹40,000 for information leading to the arrest of Congress councillor Anwar Qadri, who has been declared a fugitive by the court in connection with a forced conversion case.
According to Jagran, Qadri is accused of providing financial assistance for activities linked to love jihad and Islamic forced conversions. The case involves the alleged abduction and religious conversion of a Hindu woman. Additional DCP Amit Singh stated that the allegations against Qadri are based on the statements of other accused persons who have already been arrested.
The court’s fugitive declaration came after Qadri repeatedly failed to appear despite summons. Police have intensified search operations and appealed to the public for information on his whereabouts.
This development comes amid heightened scrutiny of forced conversion cases in Madhya Pradesh, where several similar incidents have recently made headlines.
Suspended Congress municipal councillor Anwar Qadri, infamously known as Anwar Dacoit, stands accused of being a key financier and facilitator in an organized Love Jihad network targeting Hindu women. According to police and media reports, Qadri allegedly provided ₹3 lakh to the arrested rape accused Altaf Khan and Sahil, instructing them to lure, groom, and marry Hindu girls under false pretenses for religious conversion. The suspects told investigators that Qadri recruited them during Islamic religious gatherings, brainwashed them into the exploitation racket, and offered logistical as well as financial support for these operations.
Far from being an isolated incident, Qadri’s criminal history reportedly spans at least 19 registered cases across Indore and Ujjain, including communal incitement, extortion, rape conspiracy, and organized crime. His homes in Bhisti Mohalla and his in-laws’ residence in Sadar Bazar have been repeatedly raided by police, yet he remains absconding. Declared a fugitive by the court, a reward for his arrest has now been increased to ₹40,000, reflecting the seriousness of the charges. Investigations are ongoing into his wider network and the possible involvement of other associates in this targeted campaign against Hindu women.
