Yes, Hindus should definitely be more communal!

The Hindu Samaj is fighting battles on several fronts, the most important of which is keeping Dharmic values alive and passing them on to future generations. Add media, political and academic Hinduphobia to a largely deracinated and confused society and we have a perfect concoction for the erosion of Dharma.

Origin and meaning of the term communal

The English word communal is derived from the Latin word communalis which simply means belonging to the community. The etymology of communalism is derived from French communalisme meaning “theory or principles of government by independent communes”. Alternately, communal and community, derived from the Latin word communis meant common or of the community.

In either case, the term was nothing but a reference to a community or was used to indicate belongingness to the community. However, just like the term Hindutva, the Indian media and pseudo-secular politicians have distorted the term communal to give it a negative connotation, particularly in connection to Hindus.

Interestingly and not surprisingly, it is only in Bharat that it acquires a religious association, thanks to the British divide-and-rule policy that was subsequently adopted by so-called secular parties. Their media handmaidens only fuelled the negative connotation with the intention of demeaning Hindus and forcing the ‘majority community’ into a collective guilt trip.

Religious exclusivism and not communalism is a problem. Dharmic religions have always co-existed with different denominations and lines of thought whereas both Islam and Christianity (and Judaism to a certain extent) look for religious exclusivism. After centuries of intolerance, bloodshed, and torture of those not subscribing to their monotheist faith, it is only now that Islamists and Christians talk of tolerance.

Even tolerance is limited to areas where adherents of Islam and Christianity find themselves outnumbered. The moment their population is in the majority, the first thing that goes out of the window is tolerance. Needless to say, tolerance is not the same as co-existence that characterizes Dharmic faiths. Tolerance is forced acceptance where there is no respect. No wonder both Christianity and Islam denigrate and demonize Hindu Dharma as a “demonic/devilish faith”.

Their children are indoctrinated from a young age to believe that hellfire is reserved for those who do not believe in Jesus or Allah. The conversion mafia targets Hindus by attacking Hindu Devis/Devatas, festivals, and rituals. They attempt to brainwash Hindus into conversion by putting the latter on the defensive about their practices. The deracination of Hindus not only leaves them defenceless against the onslaught of the conversion mafia but also gives the latter an upper hand.

Deracination of Hindus

Deracination of Hindus begins with the educational setup because the Bharatiya education system is nothing but a continuation of the British education system with a liberal dose of Marxism mixed for good effect as a result of which deculturation of Hindus has been steadily taking place over the decades. Yes, we are taking baby steps to shake off the Marxist-Liberal influence but we still have a long way to go.

It is not just the education system but even the entertainment industry that has been injecting Hindu hatred steadily and now with the arrival of OTT platforms, this poison is being fed by cupfuls. Activism and cultural Marxism have encroached on our traditional religious spaces. But the education system and/or the anti-Hindu media and entertainment industries alone aren’t to be blamed. A fair share of the blame lies with Hindus themselves. The Hindu society has dhimmified itself to such an extent that a fairly large percentage of Hindus are actually HINOS (Hindus in Name Only).

The easiest way to kill a tree without using an axe is to pour acid at its roots. Marxists, Evangelicals, and Islamists ably supported by HINOS and dormant Hindus as well as selfish politicians have been pouring the acid known as secularism at the roots of the Hindu Dharma tree. Additionally, ideological subversion of Hindu society has been attempted particularly since 2014 and with renewed efforts since 2019 when Bharat chose Hindu nationalism. To put it in the simplest of terms, ideological subversion is a method to make native populations ashamed of valid and valued traditions including religion, history, heritage, and culture.

Over and above all this, there are also attempts to force the imported woke culture down our throats. All of this accelerates the deracination of Hindu society which must be stopped before it is too late. We must teach our children that our dharma is our identity and we must never shy away from acknowledging our identity. If we do not respect ourselves then no one else will. This is where Dharmic organizations and warriors step in and play a very important role.

Role of Dharmic organizations & Dharma warriors

Although we are faced with numerous challenges, it is not all doom and gloom. A section of Hindus has awakened and they are contributing their might along with several Dharmic organizations to enlighten the masses about the threats to Hindu Samaj, in addition to providing Dharmic lessons. These Dharmic and Seva organizations are working in various fields to make a difference in society. The diaspora, in particular, has come together to pass on Dharmic lessons to the younger generations. We have young Kathavachaks like Dushyant Sridhar and Bageshwar Dham Sarkar Dhirendra Shastri from whom we should take inspiration.

Here are some Dharmic initiatives and organizations which should serve as a template for Hindus:

1) Chinmaya Mission and Sathya Sai organizations run Balvihar and Balvikas classes respectively for children.

2) VHP Australia’s education wing Vidya Vihaar runs Bala Samskara Kendra and Yuva Samskara Kendra to keep Australian Hindu children rooted in Dharma.

3) Daana Dharma is an organization started by four friends with the aim of serving society in keeping with the Dharmic philosophy of Nishkaam Seva. The organization works on the twin concepts of Daana and Dharma. They chose Dharmic volunteers and made Grama Devata temples their focal point to combine seva and dharma.

4) Agastya Gurukulam is a US-based non-profit organization providing traditional education. The institution is dedicated to the cause of education rooted in the traditional Bharatiya knowledge systems.

5) Kameswari Vigyana Gurukulam is a unique online educational initiative for children between 5 to 18 by Kameswari Foundation. The aim is to provide a holistic and culturally immersive learning experience for learners, empowering curious minds through shastras. Vigyana Gurukulam is an online platform that offers comprehensive, customized, and application-oriented education rooted in Bharatiya Gyan parampara.

6) Arsha Vidya Tirtha is an organization working for the betterment of society by imparting formal education to children from underprivileged families along with Vaidik knowledge and encouraging families to retain their Hindu identity in a convenient and educative manner.

7) Organizations like Dakshin Vrindavan, Maan Mandir Seva Sansthan Trust and GauNandi Seva among others run Gaushalas and work in the field of rescuing cows and bulls.

8) Shiva Shakti Organization is working to bring converts back to the Dharmic fold in addition to several other seva and Dharmic activities.

9) Vaibbhav Ashok Goel Foundation (VAG) is partnering with several other NGOs besides Ekta Niradhar Sangh to provide shelter for orphans who are forced to leave orphanages after turning 18.

10) Some of the other organizations involved in Dharma and Seva activities are Nimittekam, Bharat Sevashram Sangh, and RSS Jankalyan Samiti.

This is merely an indicative list and not an exhaustive one considering the fact that there are several Dharmic and Seva organizations (see HinduPost database). The need of the hour is for Hindus to take a leaf off the books of these organizations and undertake similar activities in our localities/areas. Additionally, we need to come together as a community to face the numerous challenges as a united front. There is a need for traditional Dharmic organizations such as Mathas and Devasthanas including Temple Trusts to be more vocal on Hindu issues. Their silence is not only harmful to Dharma but also adds to the confusion and indifference of society.

The only anti-dote to ideological subversion, cultural Marxism, and wokeism of the Hindu society is rooting the country, particularly the youth, in Dharma. Deracination is at the root of all problems and tackling that is essential if everything that is valuable to the Bharatiya and Hindu civilization is to be saved.

Being communal is not only the need of the hour but also essential for the survival of Dharma!
