Hindus under attack: a weekly roundup of hate crimes, persecution, and discrimination against Hindus

Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 07 December to 13 December 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) A deeply disturbing case from Ramadurga taluk, Belagavi, has exposed yet another instance of Islamic coercion and intimidation targeting Hindu women in rural Karnataka. 28-year-old Nagavva Demappa Vantamuri ended her life after enduring relentless harassment, threats, and pressure to convert to Islam by a local Islamist man, Maktumsab Patil.

2) A disturbing Love Jihad case has been reported again in Bengaluru, where a Hindu woman has accused an Islamist man named Usman of extreme physical violence, forced Islamic conversion attempts, blackmail, financial exploitation, and death threats of a brutal nature.

3) A recent rescue at the Raxaul border of a 16‑year‑old Hindu girl, allegedly lured, exploited and pushed towards religious conversion before being taken towards Nepal in a burqa, has become a chilling emblem of the wider crisis. According to local reports from East Champaran, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) anti‑human trafficking unit intercepted a man, a 16‑year‑old girl in a burqa and a minor boy near the customs office at the Raxaul border while they were attempting to cross into Nepal. The man was identified as Mohammad Azmullah Ali from West Champaran, while the girl was a minor who had been reported missing from Bettiah.

4) A married woman police constable posted in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district has accused a Muslim man of trapping her in a relationship, blackmailing her with threats to complain to her husband, extorting money and then allegedly confining her in Pune and pressuring her for marriage. Police have rescued the constable from Maharashtra and arrested the accused, identified as Gulfaam alias Arkan Ahmad, initiating legal action under relevant criminal sections.

5) As per reports, the complaint was filed by a woman from the Bisrakh police station area, who stated that Harun Khan of Sarai Nazar Ali, along with his wife, Suhana, his brothers, Sikandar alias Sonu Khan and Kapil Khan, his sister, Gudiya, and his brother-in-law, Raju Khan, operated as a coordinated gang. According to her, these individuals, along with several unidentified Islamist youths, hid their identities to lure Hindu women, built false relationships, and later used explicit videos to intimidate and exploit them.

6) Tension gripped Jwalapur in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar when unidentified individuals pelted stones at a Bajrang Dal procession marking Shaurya Diwas, prompting swift police intervention and heavy deployment to restore order. The procession, originating from three separate locations—Jwalapur, Haridwar city, and Kankhal—converged toward Ram Chowk, where the attack occurred near Durga Chowk and Saini Ashram, leading to immediate chaos among participants. No injuries were reported, but the incident escalated rapidly as enraged Bajrang Dal activists arrived with bulldozers, signaling readiness for further action if authorities failed to respond.

7) The attack on Justice G R Swaminathan over the Thiruparankundram Karthigai Deepam issue is not just a dispute about a lamp; it is a coordinated political assault on Hindu rights, temple traditions, and judicial independence, led by the DMK government in Tamil Nadu and backed by INDI alliance MPs seeking his impeachment.

8) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh recently sparked a major political debate with a striking claim about India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh’s statement on Nehru is based on facts. Documents reveal Jawaharlal Nehru favoured spending govt money on Babri Masjid.

9) Police in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district have arrested six people for allegedly running a Christian religious conversion racket that targeted poor Vanvasi (incorrectly named ‘tribal’ in common parlance) families with promises of cash payouts of up to one lakh rupees per person and job opportunities.

10) Surathkal police have arrested an Islamist shop owner on charges of sexually harassing a minor boy, registering a POCSO case, and placing the accused in judicial custody. As per reports, the accused Islamist has been identified as Mohammad Ismail, proprietor of Hani Fashion Shop & General Store located near Chokkabettu Jumma Masjid in Surathkal.

11) A 17-year-old Hindu girl in Mirzapur’s Ganeshganj area remains in serious condition after her throat and wrist were slashed with a blade by an Islamist youth who had allegedly been pressuring her for religious conversion and marriage, triggering widespread public anger and a major police crackdown. Police have announced a reward of 25,000 rupees for information on the main accused, identified as Abdul alias Saif, and have arrested nine people so far on charges of conspiracy and sheltering him.

12) A social organization, Praja Prabhutva Ulisi Andolana, has raised serious concerns over alleged missionary activities aimed at converting vulnerable Janjatiya families residing within the Kudremukha National Park region of Karnataka.

Pakistan

Abduction, rape, forced conversion, and marriage of minor Hindu girls are common occurrences in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. At least 1000 minority girls suffer such sex slavery every year in Sindh province alone. Apart from this, Pakistani Hindus face systemic and institutionalized discrimination and neglect, such as frequent attacks on Hindu temples, demonization of education curriculum, police and judicial antipathy, denial of fundamental rights, and even untouchability. This latest instance of the brutal rape and murder of a Bheel woman in Pakistan is yet another proof of the pitiable condition of Hindu minorities in Pakistan.

1) The life of Pakistani Hindu activist Shiva Kachhi has been in danger ever since a notorious Islamist outfit, Pir Sarhindi, falsely accused him of being anti-Islam and an ‘Indian agent’ working against the interests of the Pakistani State. The matter came to light on Tuesday (2nd December) after Shiva took to X (formerly Twitter) to narrate his ordeal.

Bangladesh

Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.

1) The bodies of an elderly Hindu couple, a former freedom fighter and his wife were found inside their home in Taraganj Upazila of Rangpur District shocking the residents and causing fear among members of the minority community. The deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Jogesh Chandra Roy, a retired headteacher and veteran of the 1971 Liberation War, and his 60-year-old wife Suborna Roy.

World

1) A Mandir in Brampton, Ontario (Canada), was robbed in broad daylight during Thanksgiving week, leaving devotees stunned and prompting calls for stronger protection of places of worship.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.

We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
