Student attempts suicide after being assaulted for sporting saffron shawl: Kodagu, K’taka

An incident of an alleged suicide attempt by a student of Government Polytechnic College in Madikeri’s Kushalnagar has come to light. The student identified as Prajwal reportedly took the step after he was attacked by some of the hostel residents for wearing a saffron shawl.

According to reports, Muslim students were angered by Prajwal’s saffron shawl and his alleged attempt to make a fellow Muslim student sport saffron as well which was supposedly captured on video. Annoyed Muslim residents of the hostel then attacked Prajwal who is said to have immediately called the leaders of the Hindu organizations for help.

As per available information, Prajwal was upset with the fact that he didn’t get justice from hostel authorities which forced him to take the step. However, his friends rushed him to the Kushalanagar Government Hospital where he is undergoing treatment. There have also been allegations of discrimination and intimidation against the warden though his role in the entire episode isn’t clear as yet.

The Kushalnagar police are currently investigating the case and eight persons have been questioned in this regard.

HinduPost reached out to local sources who confirmed the veracity of the incident and that Prajwal had indeed attempted suicide. However, other details of the case are not yet clear and the article will be updated as and when further information is obtained.

इन दिनों हिजाब का समर्थन करते हुए मुस्लिम औरतों को नीचा दिखाने की होड़ लगी हुई है और अब उन्हें टॉफ़ी, कैंडी, और आइसक्रीम से बढ़कर मोबाईल फोन तक पहुँचा दिया है। कर्नाटक के कांग्रेस के नेता ज़मीर अहमद खान ने कल एक बयान दिया कि “इस्लाम में हिजाब का मतलब पर्दा होता है, (जो इसका विरोध कर रहे हैं) उनके घर में औरतें और बच्चे न हों, अगर होते तो उन्हें यह पता होता। हिजाब का उद्देश्य लड़कियों के बड़े होने के बाद उन्हें पर्दे के नीचे रखना होता है, क्योंकि उनकी सुंदरता को नहीं देखना चाहिए। हिजाब का इस्तेमाल उनकी सुंदरता को छुपाने के लिए किया जाता है”।

उन्होंने कहा कि भारत में बलात्कार की दर अधिक है क्योंकि महिलाओं को पर्दे के तहत नहीं रखा जाता है। उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि भले ही यह अनिवार्य नहीं है, लेकिन जो महिलाएं अपनी सुंदरता को छिपा कर रखना चाहती हैं, वे इसे पहन सकती हैं ताकि वे बलात्कार से बच सकें।“

यह कैसी मानसिकता है जो लड़कियों को परदे के पीछे रखकर ही लड़कियों की सुरक्षा करने का दम भरती है? यह कैसी मानसिकता है जो बार बार यह लड़कियों को ही पीछे धकेलती है? मगर मुस्लिम लड़कियों को बार बार खुद के लिए बलात्कार के लिए दोषी ठहराने वाले किसी भी इंसान के खिलाफ कोई भी फेमिनिस्ट या कथित उदारवादी लेखक नहीं बोलता है। आखिर ऐसा क्यों है कि बार बार मुस्लिम समुदाय द्वारा ही मुस्लिम लड़कियों को पीछे धकेला जाता है और साथ ही उन्हें बार बार कोई चीज कहकर ही संबोधित किया जाता है।

फिर भी क्या यह बात सही है कि पर्दे में यदि रखा जाए तो बलात्कार कम होते हैं? वहीं बार बार कई आंकड़े यह निर्धारित करते हैं कि बलात्कार और पर्दे का कोई सम्बन्ध नहीं है। हाल ही में पाकिस्तान के प्रधानमंत्री इमरान खान ने जब यह कहा था कि छोटे कपड़े पहनने वाली औरतों का समाज पर गलत प्रभाव पड़ता है। उसके बाद कई औरतों ने यह ट्वीट किया था कि उन्हें इस्लाम की सबसे पाक जगह अर्थात पवित्र काबा में ही छेड़ा गया था।

कई लड़कियों ने अपने अनुभव साझा किए थे कि उन्हें कैसे पर्दे में भी शोषण का निशाना बनाया गया था

कांग्रेस के नेता ने यह शायद समाचार नहीं पढ़ा होगा जिसमें लड़कियों ने मक्का में अपने यौन उत्पीड़न के किस्से बताए थे। और #MosqueMeToo का भी ट्रेंड चलाया गया था।

इन सभी घटनाओं ने यह साबित किया कि पर्दे से बलात्कार नहीं रुकते हैं। इतना ही नहीं न जाने कितने मामले मदरसों में बलात्कार के आते हैं, और वहां पर लड़कियों का मजहबी लिबास में जाना ही अनिवार्य होता है। यहाँ तक कि अजमेर की दरगाह में भी लड़कियों ने अपने साथ हुए यौन उत्पीड़नों की कहानियों को साझा किया था।

वारिस पठान ने लड़कियों को मोबाइल की संज्ञा दे दी

जहाँ कांग्रेस के नेता ने पर्दे को बलात्कार से बचाने के लिए सही बताया तो वहीं एआईएमआईएम के वारिस पठान, जो अभी तक हिन्दुओं के खिलाफ ही उलटे सीधे बयान देते रहे थे, उन्होंने आज एक कदम आगे जाकर कहा कि “मोबाइल को कवर में क्यों रखते हो ?सम्भालने के लिये,बचाने के लिये।।स्क्रीनगार्ड क्यों लगाते हो ? ताकि ख़राब ना हो

इसीलिये हम महिलाओं को हिजाब और बुरक़ा पहनाते हैं

मेजर सुरेंदर पुनिया ने सही सवाल किया है कि इनके लिए इनकी औरतों की हैसियत केवल मोबाइल जितनी ही है!

वहीं कांग्रेस के नेता और हिजाब मामलों के वकील कामत ने कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय में हिजाब का पक्ष रखते हुए भारत में मलेशिया की अदालत का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत किया, जिसपर न्यायालय ने प्रश्न किया कि क्या मलेशिया एक धर्मनिरपेक्ष देश है?

इस पर कामत ने कहा कि वह एक धर्मनिरपेक्ष देश नहीं है।

आज कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय ने कामत से यह भी पूछा कि जो भी कुरआन में लिखा है क्या उसका उल्लंघन कभी नहीं किया जा सकता?

इस पर कामत ने कहा कि वह लार्डशिप से अनुरोध करेंगे कि इसके वृहद पक्ष में न प्रवेश किया जाए!

इस मामले में कांग्रेस द्वारा इस बात के सारे प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं, कि कैसे भी मुस्लिम समुदाय को भड़काकर उसी पिछड़ेपन की ओर धकेला जाए, जिससे बाहर निकलने के लिए पूरी दुनिया की मुस्लिम महिलाओं ने अपनी जान की बाजी तक लगा दी है। कर्नाटक में चल रहे इस पूरे विवाद पर पाकिस्तान की पत्रकार आरज़ू काजमी ने भी अपनी बात रखी है और कहा है कि उन्हें पहले ही दिन से यह बात अजीब लग रही है। उन्होंने बहुत ही निडरता से अपनी बात रखी है और कहा है कि पाकिस्तान में यदि जय श्री राम या कोई हिन्दू नारा किसी हिन्दू लड़की ने लगाया होता तो क्या हमारे यहाँ के लोग उसे छोड़ देते?

यह मामला जितना जितना आगे बढ़ रहा है, उतना उतना ही पिछड़े वामपंथी लेखकों और कट्टर इस्लाम समर्थक वाम फेमिनिस्ट का असली चेहरा दिखाता जा रहा है, राजनेता तो खैर राजनीति करने के लिए ही होते हैं, जैसा इस मामले में कांग्रेस और अन्य दलों के नेता कर रहे हैं, परन्तु सबसे अधिक दुःख इस बात का है कि आगे बढ़कर यह नेता लड़कियों को चीज़, मोबाइल आदि बता रहे हैं और कथित रूप से औरतों का साथ देने वाली सभी फेमिनिस्ट लेखिकाएँ इस्लामी कट्टरपंथी नेताओं के आगे घुटने टेक कर बैठ गयी हैं!  

Two teens, aged 18 and 14, gang-raped, paraded in the streets in Pakistan for ‘tribal honor’

Two young women were kidnapped, gang-raped, and paraded in streets in Sindh’s Naukot in Pakistan, Samaa TV reported.

A group of men assaulted the two women to “avenge humiliation” after a free-will marriage between the two members of Rajput and Tangri tribes, the report said.

At least 12 men have been arrested, including constable Gulzar Tangri. The prime suspect Ali Nawaz Tangri is still at large.

According to the family, a man belonging to the Rajput tribe took their 18-year-old daughter to Karachi to marry her on February 2.

The police have said the kidnapping was not reported and the two groups were “resolving” the matter on their own.

On February 6, the Tangri group attacked the family and barged into their house and began aerial firing. According to the family, dozens of armed men beat the family and abducted 18-year-old daughter-in-law and 14-year-old daughter, the report said.

The 18-year-old survivor has accused the police of being involved. “Ali Nawaz Tangri took us to the house where a police constable, Gulzar Tangri, was present and then the two men took us to Banni,” she said.

“We were assaulted, paraded in streets and were gang-raped the whole night,” she added.

On February 7, the affected family staged a sit-on at Naukot Jado Road prompting police and local administration to “recover” the two young women.

The 18-year-old has refuted the police’s claim and said they were bribed by the constable Gulzar to not to mention his involvement.

Netflix, Google fined by South Korea over unfair paid subscription biz

South Korea’s antitrust regulator said on Sunday it has decided to impose a fine of a combined 19.5 million won ($16,300) on Google, Netflix and three other video streaming services for their unfair business activity over paid subscription.

Five over-the-top (OTT) media service providers — Google, Netflix, KT, LG Uplus and Content Wavve — hampered paid subscribers’ move to end their membership, according to the Fair Trade Commission (FTC).

They provided falsified information or did not allow subscribers to cancel their membership online in a bid to make it difficult for customers to terminate the contract of using their services, according to the FTC.

Along with the fine, the regulator ordered them to correct their business practice, reports Yonhap news agency.

Over 34 per cent of South Koreans were paid subscribers to over-the-top (OTT) media, or video streaming services, according to a survey.

Paid subscribers to OTTs stood at 34.8 per cent last year, up 20.4 percentage points from the previous year, according to a survey of 6,834 people over the age of 13 by the country’s media regulator, the Korea Communications Commission (KCC).

South Korea’s OTT usage rate rose to 69.5 per cent, compared with 66.3 per cent from the previous year, amid the stay-at-home trend driven by the pandemic

YouTube was the most popular OTT service in South Korea, with its usage rate at 65.5 per cent, followed by Netflix at 24 per cent.

Usage rates for homegrown players Wavve and Tving stood at 4.4 per cent each.

The time subscribers spent on OTT services increased to 80 minutes per day last year, compared with 76 minutes the previous year and 60 minutes in 2019.

Congress MLA Zameer Ahmed says women get raped because they don’t wear hijab

Congress MLA from Karnataka’s Chamrajpet constituency Zameer Ahmed Khan is the latest politician to jump onto the Hijab row bandwagon in order to score some brownie points by claiming that women who don’t wear hijab get raped.

He was of the opinion that the beauty of women is protected from potential rapists by the hijab. “Hijab means purdah in Islam, (those who are opposing it) may not have women and children in their house, if they had, they would have known it. The purpose of the hijab is after the girls grow up, it is used to keep them under Purdah, as their beauty should not be seen. Hijab is used to keep their beauty hidden”, he has been quoted as saying.

He added that rape rates are high in Bharat because women aren’t kept under purdah. He also stated that even though it isn’t compulsory, women who wish to keep their beauty hidden may wear it so that they prevent getting raped.

The MLA is wrong on several counts. First and foremost, the theory that women’s clothing leads to rapes has been debunked many times with Bharat’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman pointing out earlier that even elderly women and children get raped. In fact contrary to his claims, data indicates that fully clothed and burqa-clad women have also faced harassment.

Available country-wise rape statistics also show that the MLA’s claim of rape rates being high in Bharat is false. Bharat is ranked 95th among 119 countries. The rate of rape in Bharat is 1.81 per 100,000 population.

The Congress MLA’s views are contradictory not just to available data but also to that of his own party leadership. While the MLA wanted women to be covered up, Priyanka Vadra had said that women were free to wear what they want including a bikini.

As always Bharatiya media was available at hand to provide cover fire for Congress. The Economic Times termed the despicable and regressive views of the MLA as ‘controversial’. This hardly comes as a surprise considering the fact that the media has always acted as a hand-maiden of the Congress party.

It was Zameer Ahmed who facilitated the MLC ticket for a goon-billionaire turned politician Yusuf Shariff aka ‘Scrap Babu’. Although Shariff claims that his wealth has been amassed through legal means, his detractors claim he stole gold from govt. owned KGF (Kolar Gold Fields), and looted money using muscle power. Shariff had also had numerous run-ins with central crime branch authorities. Ahmed is also a close associate of former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah.

It’s pre-planned murder: Kin of 5 Hindu brothers killed in B’desh ‘accident’ after Islamist threats against building temple

The kin of five men killed in a road accident in Bangladesh after a pick-up van hit them has expressed apprehensions that the incident was planned, and termed it as “pre-meditated murder”.

Munni Sushil survived the road accident on February 8 in Chittagong’s Chakaria upazila in which 5 of her brothers were killed, while two brothers were injured.

Stating that the accident looked like a pre-planned one, Munni said: “On January 29, about 50 miscreants attacked our house. They threatened to kill my father. The next day, on January 30, my father died of a heart attack. For the last 10 years, my father had been organising Durga Puja here.”

One of her brothers, Deepak Sushil, had brought bricks and gravel to build a temple in Hasinapara village in January.

“Since then, my father was receiving threats,” Munni told IANS.

“If my brothers were not the actual target, why did the vehicle crush them when they were away from the road, instead of killing the two of us who were standing on the road,” she asked.

One of her injured brothers — Raktim Sushil — is in comma at the Chittagong General Hospital, and his condition is said to be critical.

Raktim’s brother Plabon, who was also injured in the accident, later filed a complaint with the Chakaria police station.

His grieving mother Manu Bala Shil said: “Whom will I go to with my grandchildren from my five sons? My children never harmed anyone. Why were my five children killed in this way?”

“We could not recognise the attackers,” Mrinalini, a family member, said.

The family has been living in Hasinapara village in Malumghat area since 2010. Around 30-35 Hindu families live in the village.

An official said the investigating officer will probe the allegations of previous enmity, levelled by the victims’ family.

Meanwhile, doctors said Raktim has been put on ventilator support.

“A medical board is supervising Raktim’s treatment,” said Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, superintendent of Chittagong General Hospital.

“He has a hemorrhage and he is still unconscious,” he added.

Ajay Das, consultant of orthopedics, said Raktim suffered multiple fractures in his body from head to leg.

“We have lost everything. My five brother-in-laws were killed in this tragedy. My husband is fighting for his life. I pray to the Almighty that he returns my husband…,” Raktim’s wife said.

Former Congress MLA Aditi Singh shown as brothel madam in new poster – is this Priyanka Vadra’s woman empowerment?

The political temperatures in Rae Bareli have started soaring after an objectionable poster, purportedly released by the Congress.

The poster is a take-off on the ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ teaser and shows the BJP candidate Aditi Singh — a former Congress MLA — in a poor light.

Talking to reporters, Aditi Singh said, “The Congress is stooping so low now. It talks of ‘Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon, but has no qualms about maligning women. They have made this poster viral through a media house and the Congress will have to pay for it.”

Aditi warned of legal action against the party and those responsible for the poster.

She said that she would also lodge a complaint with the Election Commission.

The Congress district president Pankaj Tiwari, meanwhile, denied that the poster had been released by his party.

“We do not believe in poster politics. Aditi Singh became MLA from the Congress and also got the Nagar Palika chief’s post for her family. She enjoyed the perks of power but did not serve the people. Aditi Singh is now levelling unsubstantiated charges against us,” he said.

NE CMs slam Rahul for excluding the region in his tweet

The Chief Ministers of northeastern states on Thursday slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for “excluding” the region in his tweet.

The former Congress president on Thursday tweeted: “There is strength in our Union. Our Union of Cultures. Our Union of Diversity. Our Union of Languages. Our Union of People. Our Union of States. From Kashmir to Kerala. From Gujarat to West Bengal. India is beautiful in all its colours. Don’t insult the spirit of India.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, criticising Gandhi, tweeted: “India is far beyond just a union. We are a proud Nation. Bharat cannot be held hostage to your tukde tukde philosophy. What is your problem with Nation, Nationality and Nationalism ? And hello- beyond Bengal, we Northeast exist.”

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, in his tweet, said: “It baffles me when a senior INC India leader ignores the existence of North East India in statements. When the existence of this region is not even acknowledged, how is Congress asking for votes to the people of Manipur for the upcoming election?”

The elections to the 60-seat Manipur Assembly would be held in two phases on February 28 and March 5.

Criticising the Congress leader, Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb in his tweet said: “In order to preach, Mr. Rahul Gandhi has forgotten our beautiful North Eastern states. Just like his great grandfather, he excluded our region ? We are also a proud part of India. Your ignorance is the reason of your party’s total wipe out from Northeast.”

Of the eight northeastern states, the BJP is in power in Assam, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura while the NDA allies are governing in Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram and Sikkim.

Slurs like “kaafir ki aulaad”, abuse of Hindu deities, thrashings and dowry harassment by Muslim husband and in-laws drove Varsha to suicide: Agra, UP

The bail pleas of Nayeem and Kayyum, brother-in-law and father-in-law of a Hindu victim of grooming jihad Varsha Raghuvanshi, were turned down by a district court. The two were facing trials on charges of dowry harassment and subjecting the woman to religious hatred. Varsha had eloped with Faheem Qureshi during the first lockdown in 2020. Within a year of marrying Qureshi, her body was found hanging from the ceiling at her husband’s place in Agra.

As per Swarajya Mag, the family learned of Varsha’s marriage after they received a letter from the local court informing them about the same. Her brother Dushyant has been quoted as saying that Varsha said she had made up her mind and left the house with Qureshi after her family members confronted her.

The Raghuvanshi and Qureshi families reside in the Shahganj area, two kilometers apart. While the former are residents of the Kolihai colony the latter who hail from Jhansi district reside in Chilli Pada colony on rent. On November 12, 2021, Varsha was found dead and Dushyant said her brother-in-law Nayeem informed him of his sister’s ‘suicide’. Chillingly, when Dushyant had gone to collect his sister’s body and asked about the suspicious circumstances of her death, the Qureshis started abusing him and other locals pelted stones.

The Qureshis including Varsha’s husband, brother-in-law, and father-in-law were booked under IPC Sections 498A (harassment by demanding dowry), 304B (dowry death), 295 (defiling place of worship with intent to insult religion), 298 (uttering words to hurt religious feelings) and sections of Dowry Prohibition Act on the basis of Dushyant’s statement. The case was registered on November 12, 2021, at Shahganj Police Station. 

Dushyant’s statement to police said that Faheem’s family, including his parents and siblings, began physically assaulting Varsha for various reasons including her Hindu religion. They would force her to cut, cook and eat meat against her wishes. They would also demand a car and Rs 5 lakh cash from her as dowry. Faheem’s family also insulted Varsha by calling her ‘kaafir ki aulaad’ (child of an infidel) and abusing Hindu deities. All this was disclosed to him by Varsha, Dushyant’s statement said.

Quoting the Raghuvanshi family in the matter, Swarajya Mag says:

Dushyant told Swarajya that time that “right from the beginning”, Varsha complained of ill-treatment at the hands of Faheem’s family. “While we don’t even use onion or garlic in our food, Varsha was made to clean and cook meat every day. She told us many times she hated doing it,” he said.

He also said that Faheem’s mother would taunt her for “not bringing anything” after marriage. At Faheem’s house, Varsha was given the name Zoya. 

Varsha’s younger sister Khushboo told Swarajya that Varsha told her that a maulvi visited the house regularly to teach her namaz and Islam. “Varsha said she tried her best, but it was too difficult for her. Any mistake from her side would end up in a thrashing by Faheem,” she said.

The Qureshis, who were arrested a day after the filing of FIR, are in jail. Varsha’s husband Faheem hadn’t applied for bail while the pleas of Nayeem and Kayyum were heard by the Agra District Court on January 19 this year. The court while turning down the bail pleas noted that the case appeared to be serious and hate-inspired (“gambhir” and “ghranit prakriti ka”).

Celebrations begin for Ravidas Jayanti in Varanasi

The Sant Ravidas Jayanti celebrations this year promise to be a mega affair since it comes in the midst of elections.

The event had forced postponement of the Punjab elections to enable disciples from that state to visit the mystic poet’s birthplace in Varanasi.

The event has already assumed huge political significance for its Dalit powerhouse image in poll-bound Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Celebrations begin on Monday at Seer Gowardhanpur, where the mystic saint was born, with the arrival of Trust chairman Sant Niranjandas from Begumpura in a special train.

The area wears a festive look with pilgrims trickling in from across the country.

The devotees will stay in a tent city that has come up near the Ravidas temple. Two special trains with hundreds of pilgrims from Punjab are scheduled to arrive on Monday and Tuesday, before the main celebrations on Wednesday.

Trust member, Kishanlal Saroa, and temple manager Ranvir Singh said, “The Trust has sent invites to top politicians but the ‘darbar’ of Sant Ravidas is open for all. Anyone can take part in the birth anniversary celebrations. With model code of conduct in force, no politician, however, would be allowed to speak from the dais though they will be free to offer prayers and seek blessings.”

District Magistrate Kaushal Raj Sharma, however, denied receiving the itinerary of any big politician so far.

He said, “All necessary arrangements for conducting Ravidas Jayanti celebrations, including accommodation of pilgrims as per Covid-19 protocol has been completed by the trust. Roads leading to the shrine have been repaired and the area revamped with improved sanitation and lighting.
