DMK fascism: Man booked for complaining about dead lizard in Pongal gift kit, upset son dies by self-immolation

In a horrible turn of events, a family has been ruined by DMK government’s fascism. DMK government filed a case on an old man who complained about substandard Pongal gift kit. As a result his son self immolated himself unable to bear the harassment and shame.

As Pongal festival falls on January 14, the DMK government in Tamil Nadu is distributing a Pongal gift hamper consisting 20 items, raw rice, jaggery, cardamom, cashews for making sweet Pongal and other basic groceries through Public Distribution System (PDS) aka ration shops. Nandan, a 65 year old man from Tiruttani who received the gift hamper found part of a dead lizard in the tamarind when he checked it. He reportedly went back to the shop and questioned the ration shop employee about it.

Tamil media reported that the employee behaved rudely towards Nandan. Nandan is a local functionary of ADMK and is the district secretary of Human Rights Commission. He is said to have informed the media about the substandard items being distributed by the DMK government as part of the gift hamper. As the news went viral the enraged PDS employee lodged a complaint with the police, News 18 Tamil reported.

Following this Tiruttani police Inspector Ramesh booked Nandan under sections which make it an unbailable offence allegedly for “spreading fake news”. This is said to have made Nandan visibly upset. He reportedly talked about taking his life to his family members. Upset by this his son Kuppusamy who runs a private company in Chennai immolated himself with petrol. He was rushed to the hospital with 80% burns and succumbed to the injuries.

Many instances of receiving substandard items in the Pongal gift hamper have been reported across the state. Especially the rice is said to be infested with insects and the jaggery in a melted state. Food and Civil Supplies minister Chakrapani addressed the media about opposition’s accusations that substandard items are distributed as gift hamper and proudly told the media that “the man who spread information that there was a lizard in tamarind has been booked”.

As soon as coming to power DMK took no time to witch hunt those who were critical of their governance and ideology. YouTubers Kishore K Swamy, Maridhas, Seethayin Mainthan @ Dakshinamurthy and Sattai Durai Murugan. They were slapped with Goondas Act and Kishore was incarcerated for 6 months merely for sharing what was already said and written by Dravidianist leaders. Now an ordinary man has been booked under unbailable sections just for pointing out a flaw. He has lost his first son and his family is ruined forever thanks to the DMK government’s fascist attitude in crushing critical voices.
