New Zealand Hindu Women Forum to host women’s health and wellness seminar in Auckland on November 14

The NZ Hindu Women Forum, a service division of the Hindu Council of New Zealand, is set to organize a women’s health and wellbeing seminar on Auckland’s North Shore on November 14, bringing together medical professionals, wellness practitioners, and community members to promote women’s health, self-care, and holistic living. Organized in partnership with the Hindu Professionals Association of New Zealand, the program reflects the Hindu community’s growing commitment to women’s empowerment, public awareness, and community welfare.

The seminar, titled “A Healthcare Wellness Conversation for YOU!”, will take place from 4:15 pm to 6 pm at the Acacia Room of Sunnynook Community Centre. The initiative follows earlier community engagement programs in Wellington and other parts of New Zealand and forms part of a nationwide effort to build stronger networks supporting women’s physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It also contributes to preparations for the third NZ Hindu Women Conference, scheduled to be held in Christchurch in 2027.

The program will be coordinated by Sarisha Rameshlall Komal, an education specialist, holistic counsellor, and author, who will also serve as the event’s master of ceremonies. Emphasizing the importance of women prioritizing their own well-being, Komal said that women who take care of themselves help inspire a healthier, stronger, and more confident generation. The organizers aim to create an inclusive platform where women can engage directly with specialists, raise questions, share experiences, and gain practical knowledge to make informed decisions about their health.

The seminar will feature a multidisciplinary panel covering reproductive health, nutrition, holistic care, mindfulness, and movement. Dr Reshma Desai, an obstetrician and gynaecologist, will discuss reproductive health and the changes women experience at different stages of life. Nivedita Sharma Vij, co-founder of Muskaan Care Trust NZ and a registered nutritionist and dietitian, will provide guidance on nutrition and healthy everyday choices. Prabha Patel, director of Energy Healthcare and a facilitator at The Reconnect, will explore Ayurveda, energy healing, and holistic self-care, while Hatha yoga teacher Amita Changoiwala will demonstrate approaches to mindfulness, relaxation, and physical stress relief. Dance therapist Swetha Chepur, owner of Bazinga- The Dance Rapsody, will highlight the role of movement and cultural arts in emotional expression and overall well-being.

Beyond conventional health discussions, the initiative recognizes that women’s well-being encompasses multiple dimensions of life, including emotional resilience, mental balance, physical fitness, and spiritual wellness. Participants can expect interactive question-and-answer sessions, practical health advice, and live demonstrations featuring yoga, dance, and music. The program will conclude with community networking, complimentary refreshments, and healthy juices. By combining professional guidance with interactive learning and community engagement, the organizers hope to encourage women to take a more informed and proactive approach to their well-being.

The seminar is free and open to the public, with advance registration compulsory because of limited venue capacity. Interested women and other community members can register online at https://tinyurl.com/HPANZWomenHealth. Through initiatives such as this, the NZ Hindu Women Forum and the Hindu Professionals Association of New Zealand seek to strengthen community connections, expand access to health awareness and advance women’s empowerment across the country. The North Shore event represents another step in translating community participation into practical programs that support healthier families and a stronger, more informed society.

Nari Shakti is the strength, dignity, and soul of Bharat. Carrying the timeless values of Hindu Dharma, the New Zealand Hindu Women Forum’s women’s health and wellbeing program celebrates the strength of women while recognizing the importance of their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In Hindu traditions, women are revered as manifestations of Shakti, the divine feminine power that sustains creation and protects righteousness. From Maa Durga’s courage and Maa Saraswati’s wisdom to Maa Lakshmi’s prosperity, our traditions honor the many dimensions of feminine strength. The ideal of Yatra Naryastu Pujyante, Ramante Tatra Devata reminds us that where women are respected, divinity flourishes. True women’s empowerment, however, goes beyond reverence; it requires creating opportunities for women to thrive through education, health awareness, leadership, and holistic well-being. By bringing together expert guidance on women’s health, nutrition, holistic care, yoga, and dance therapy, this program reflects the understanding that empowering women begins with caring for their well-being, respecting their dignity, and enabling them to realize their full potential. A society that honors Nari Shakti does not merely celebrate women’s strength- it supports, nurtures, and empowers women to flourish.
