Bangladeshi JMB terrorist convicted in 2018 Bodh Gaya blast case

0

A Special NIA Court in Patna on Wednesday convicted Bangladeshi national Jahidul Islam alias Kausar — a Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) terrorist, for planting three IEDs — one of which exploded — in January 2018, in and around the premises of Bodh Gaya temple complex in Bihar ahead of the scheduled visit of the Dalai Lama and the then Governor of the eastern state.

An official said Islam was convicted under sections 121A, 122, 123, 471 of the IPC, Sec 16, 18, 18B & 20 of UA (P) Act, Sec 4 & 5 of Explosive Substance Act and 14 of the Foreigners Act.

The court has noted that the prosecution was able to bring home the guilt of the accused. The court said the prosecution had successfully proved their case beyond reasonable doubt.

The court has now posted the matter for the next date for hearing further hearing to pronounce and decide the quantum of punishment.

Earlier, eight JMB terrorists were awarded separate Jail term by the same NIA Court in December 2021.

The court had awarded life imprisonment to three terrorists — P. Sheikh, Ahmad Ali and Nur Alam Momin. The other five terrorists Adil Sheikh, Dilwar Hossain, Abdul Karim alias Korim, Mustafizur Rahman alias Shaheen and Arif Hussain were awarded 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment.

The NIA had registered the case on February 3, 2018.

The first Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detected at the gate number 5 of ‘Kalchakra Maidan’ and it had exploded while it was being secured. Two more IEDs were later detected near ‘Sri Lankan Monastery’, and at the stairs of gate number 4 of Mahabodhi temple.

The probe by NIA established that the convicted individuals had hatched a conspiracy by way of planting IEDs at Bodhgaya Temple complex, ahead of the dignitaries’ visit.

The JMB terrorists had contacted each other, travelled together, conspired and procured explosives, fabricated and planted these three IEDs at Bodh Gaya temple complex.

In 2018, a chargesheet was filed against three arrested accused — P. Sheikh, Ahmad Ali and Nur Alam, and supplementary chargesheet was later filed in 2019 against 6 more individuals — Adil Sheikh, Dilwar Hossain, Abdul Karim alias Korim, Mustafizur Rahman, Jahidul Islam alias Kausar and Arif Hussain.

History of anti-Hijab movements in Muslim societies

0
Hijab

As the Hijab row rages on, it is probably a good time to take a look at how what came to be considered a symbol of oppression and suppression by women in Muslim societies leading them to run the ‘free the Hijab’ movement is now being used as a political tool in ‘secular’ Bharat. With Pakistan jumping aboard the bandwagon, there appears to be a concerted effort to rerun the ‘minorities aren’t safe in Modi’s Hindu Bharat’ template and defame the nation once again.

Women oppression through compulsory Hijab

In 2019, three women were sentenced to 55 years and 6 months in prison in totality for ‘disrespecting compulsory Hijab’. The gravity of the issue can be understood from the charges leveled against the three for simply making a choice to do away with the Islamic dress code. The three had been charged with “assembly and collusion to act against national security,” “propaganda against the regime,” as well as “encouraging and preparing the grounds for corruption and prostitution.”

Even more important is the point that none of the lawyers representing the women were permitted to put forward their points either during the interrogation and trial or when the verdict was being delivered. In other words, the women were given no chance to defend themselves and were accused of ‘threatening national security’ and ‘inciting corruption and prostitution’ because they had merely protested against the enforcement of the Hijab.

Similarly, in 2020 Iranian authorities arrested a woman for ‘insulting the Islamic Hijab’ after a video went viral on social media where she was seen riding the bicycle without a veil. Iran’s Islamic law, that came into force during the 1979 revolution, mandates women to compulsorily wear a hijab that covers their head and neck and conceals their hair.

The Taliban that grabbed power in Afghanistan put up posters across Kabul ordering women to cover up. “According to Sharia law, Muslim women must wear the hijab”, says the poster that is the latest in a series of diktats against women and girls issued by the Taliban. “What they’re trying to do is to spread fear among the people”, AFP quotes an anonymous university student and women’s rights advocate as saying.

Muslim women oppose imposition of Hijab

Islamic nations mandate their women to cover up using different types of headgear. While Hijab is a term that is used to describe modest dressing of a Muslimah, it also refers to a headscarf covering the hair and neck and at times even the shoulders and chest. The burka is a long, voluminous outer garment covering the entire body, with a grille covering the face.

The niqab is a veil, usually black in color, covering the face. The ‘full niqab’ covers the face and head completely with a place cut out for eyes. The ‘half niqab’, on the other hand, includes a veil covering the lower half of the face up to the bridge of the nose, leaving the eyes and forehead clear.

Hijab

The ‘World Hijab Day’ was founded in 2013 by American Muslim woman Nazma Khan who interestingly chose February 1 which coincides with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini’s return to Iran on this very date in 1979 from his exile in France to start the Islamic revolution.

The irony is hard to miss when a Muslimah enjoying freedom in a democratic nation wants non-Muslim women to ‘experience the Hijab’ while women in Islamic nations of  Iran and Saudi Arabia have defied their male counterparts to assert their freedom of choice against the compulsory imposition of the Islamic dress code. It is apparent that fundamentalists started ‘World Hijab Day’ only to counter growing assertion of Muslim women against its imposition.

As rightly pointed out Muslim fundamentalists and supporters of Islamic dress code have displayed their hypocrisy by turning a symbol of Muslim women’s oppression by Muslim men into a symbol of protest against ‘Islamophobia’. ‘The hijab is not a symbol of Islam but of its more belligerent cousin Islamism  writes Canadian Faranza Hassan who originally hails from Iran.

“Even when adopted through individual choice, it is the religious-conservative assumption, this modesty theology, that women who do not wear headscarves are somehow sinful, less modest and not pious, that we liberals must critique. For at the root, it is this same attitude that is invoked in honor killings, and heinous acid attacks”, says Maajid Nawaz.

Maryam Namazie of Council of Ex-Muslims calls for a ban on both child veiling and burqa. “It is not enough to say that a burka ban is ‘counter-productive and seen as an onslaught on Muslims’. This can be said about any position regarding Islam and Islamism. One can say the same about those opposing child veiling and sharia law and its discrimination against Muslim women and so on. Firstly, it disregards the reality that Islamism and its rule target Muslims first and foremost”, she says.

Yasmine Mohammad, a Canadian writer and women’s rights activist who started No Hijab Day on February 1 in the year 2019, says “They don’t even want to acknowledge the fact that women are thrown in prison, getting their faces disfigured, losing their families, friends and communities, and being threatened with death or actually being killed over hijab” while adding that it is being presented as a symbol of freedom by Islamist propagandists.

There is reason to believe that the hijab is being used by Islamists to keep women in check when a believing Muslim woman highlights how false analogies are drawn to present it as a symbol of empowerment. Unfortunately, such sane voices would never be heard in the secular Republic of Bharat where Islamo-leftists are out to politicize every issue in their hatred for Bharatiya culture and Hindu Dharma that they see symbolized by the current central dispensation led by PM Modi.

Al Qaeda, IS reconstituting in Afghanistan: US General

0

A top US official has claimed that the Al Qaeda and Islamic State (IS) terror groups were “reconstituting” in Afghanistan.

Gen. Michael Michael Erik Kurilla, the nominee to head the US Central Command (CENTCOM), made the remarks while addressing the Senate Armed Services Committee, TOLO News reported.

“One of the challenges is the threat to the homeland from Al Qaeda and IS-K (Khorasan). They are reconstituting. The Taliban has not renounced Al Qaeda. IS-K, with the release of the prisoners both from the Bagram prison and Pul-e-Charkhi are in a process of reconstituting,” he said.

CENTCOM’s main headquarters is based in the US but has established a forward headquarters in Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.

But Kurilla’s claim has been rejected by the Taliban government in Afghanistan.

In a statement on Wednesday, Taliban deputy spokesperson Billal Karimi, said: “The allegations and propaganda that are being spread- there is no evidence or documentation. We hope instead of spreading propaganda and allegations without evidence, the world will come forward and engage and cooperate with the Islamic Emirate.”

Kurilla’s comments come after a report by the UN Security Council Monitoring Team said that the presence of foreign terror groups have increased in the war-torn nation after the collapse of the former administration in August last year.

The report also questioned the Taliban’s commitment under the 2020 Doha Agreement to preventing “international terrorist” threats from having a foothold in Afghanistan and expressed concerns that foreign groups might find safe haven in Afghanistan.

Soldiers martyred in Balochistan will get place in heaven, says Imran Khan in pep talk to jolted army

0

After three days of unprecedented attacks on the two camps of Pakistani security forces in restive Balochistan, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa finally reached the spot to boost the morale of their forces.

“All those soldiers who sacrificed their lives have a special place in heaven. It is an honour for the Muslims when they lay down their lives for their country,” Express Tribune reported Khan as saying while addressing the troops at Naushki army base camp on Tuesday. Khan said that the martyrs have the second-highest place after the Prophets.

“Our troops are waging a jihad against the terrorists,” Khan said.

A Peshawar-based Pakistani journalist said, “There’s nothing to hail. Both civilian and military leadership are at fault here. Had Imran Khan sat down to talk with Baloch leaders instead of Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP) and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) the situation would not have spun out of control. But now he is talking like a terrorist leader who promises 72 hoors and jannat to suicide bombers.”

Interestingly army chief General Bajwa who was with Khan did not make any statement.

According to Pakistani experts, the on-going rift between Bajwa and Khan was quite evident during this visit. Apart from interfering into his “domain”, Khan’s hobnobbing with extremist and terrorist organisations have irked Bajwa who wants to keep his army away from religious fanaticism.

“Bajwa is down and shaken at the moment because of these attacks on his forces. He is worried about the security of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in Balochistan,” says a Pakistani watcher.

While details of the simultaneous attacks in Panjgur and Naushki remain hazy, the Pakistani security establishment is taken aback by the growing capacity of the Baloch militants to launch high-profile attacks.

For Bajwa, the major challenge is how to deal with the two different kinds of attacks from Baloch and TTP militants in strategically located areas.

Last week, Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid had told the media that there has been a 35 per cent increase in terrorist attacks over the last few months. He underlined an Afghan Taliban connection in intensifying attacks.

Meanwhile, in the latest bid to oust the Imran Khan government, two major political parties Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Nawaz Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim Legue (PML-N) have decided to come together and join hands with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (MDM) which has given Imran Khan to resign by March 23. They are in touch with the allies of the Khan’s government as well as his disgruntled members of parliament.

It is being said that General Bajwa is in touch with Nawaz Sharif and former President Asif ali Zardari.

“Modi ko angar laga ke silga dalo (set Modi on fire)” says Muslim woman in pro-hijab protest organized by NCP: Pune

0
Muslim

In a ‘protest’ organized by Sharad Pawar’s NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) in Pune in support of ‘Hijab’, a Muslim woman was heard saying “Modi ko angar laga ke sulga do” (set Modi on fire). The lack of knowledge that these women possess was evident from the fact that she goes on to say that PM Modi brought in the rule banning Hijab in Karnataka.

For the record, it was the college administration of a government college in Karnataka’s Udupi that denied entry to students wearing the Hijab as it isn’t part of the uniform. The hand of PFI has come to the fore in the entire controversy manufactured by anti-Bharat forces.

As HinduPost had pointed out Campus Front of India(CFI), the student wing of the Islamist organization PFI seems to be behind manufacturing the hijab issue in Udupi, Karnataka. The students who initiated the protest were in contact with CFI before they started wearing hijab to the college and had sought their help in getting the college management to allow hijab.

Parties like NCP are now attempting to draw political mileage. The extent of Muslim indoctrination is also apparent in the Muslim woman’s remark who seems to think that PM Modi has brought in this ‘rule’. The manner in which the entire issue has escalated raises doubts as to whether anti-national forces are attempting to set Bharat afire again as they did by manufacturing anti-CAA and farmer protests.

Chennai: Paintings recreating Chola era art ordered to be “modified” as they highlight Hindu deities

0
Chola Hindu

The Chennai corporation has asked artists to not “highlight” Hindu deities in an effort to re-create Chola era paintings as a part of beautification work. Artists allege “pressure” from certain groups which had complained to the corporation. As the Chola era paintings we have now are mainly from temples, artists wonder how it can be re-created without “highlighting” Hindu deities.

The Chennai corporation had hired painting artists to draw Chola era paintings on the sidewalls of 500 meter RBI subway on Rajaji Road as part of the beautification program “Singara Chennai 2.0”. It is a pet project of DMK. After 20% of the art has been completed, artists have been called by the corporation officials to ask them to “modify” the paintings so as not to stir up any controversy. Some artists, on the condition of anonymity, told TOI that there was pressure from certain groups which complained to the corporation.

However MS Prashanth, Commissioner (works) of the corporation, denied the allegation and said that it is “purely an internal matter”. The reason they gave is that some aspects of the paintings were not approved by the Greater Chennai Corporation and that they simply asked to rectify it. The civic body’s Twitter handle had shared the completed part of work on February 2.

It received a lot of admiration from Twitter users who wanted the same kind of artwork to be done in other parts of the city as well. But it is unclear what happened in between to order them to be “modified”. One of the artists who has been part of the team that has taken up this project told TOI that there is a misunderstanding that the artwork is about religion and termed them as a depiction of “Tamil culture and heritage”. Contractor Vijay who had received accolades for his prior work with the civic body said that he was asked to “modify the idols”. He further said “I explained the theme undertaken and further told them that paintings from other religious beliefs too will be included”.

It is clear that someone had a problem with Hindu deities being displayed as Chola era culture and went to the corporation to get them modified. The paintings shared by the Corporation’s twitter handle shows the divine couple Eshwara and Parvati. Rishi munis and Bhagwa can also be spotted among the paintings. It is not surprising that it disturbed anti-Hindu elements who exercised their power with the help of anti-Hindu DMK government.

DMK, Dravidian organisations and their sympathisers have the habit of using dehinduised pictures of Saint poet Thiruvalluvar, Mahakavi Bharathiyar, freedom fighter VO Chidambaram Pillai, etc. So this act of “modifying” Hindu deities is seen as an attempt to dehinduise the history as well.

Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora expert panel releases historic Homeland Manifesto

0

At a global public event, GKPD released the results of a two yearlong study by eminent, international scholars and human rights practitioners on the way forward for the just and sustainable return of Kashmiri Pandits to their homeland.

While commending the present government for removal of Article 370 and making progress on the 6,000 Prime Minister jobs package, there was universal agreement that the state had abandoned the Kashmiri Pandit community which was now facing extinction.

Notwithstanding occasional rhetoric, the continuing official tag of ‘migrants’ showed that the State had not only not classified the Pandits as Internally Displaced Persons but instead disclaimed them as Internally Disgraced People.

The Kashmiri Pandit community has had to fend for itself for the last 32 years while the genociders have gained a windfall economic benefit estimated by the GKPD task force of over $30 billion in money, land, buildings, agricultural assets, art, livelihood, and other assets. This does not count the impact of lives lost.

Professor Aurobindo Ogra, the lead author of the study, who is based at the University of Johannesburg and has twenty years’ experience in urban planning stated, “Our study zeroed into the neighbourhood of Anantnag Division which historically has been a centre of Kashmiri Pandit land holdings and temples where the Autonomous Administrative Division would be carved out. This University township Hub would incubate industry, hospitals, health services and tourism and would be designed to scale up to house one hundred thousand Kashmiri Pandit families.”

Virinder Kaul, GKPD International Coordinator, based in Bharat who is co-author and a civil engineer with deep expertise in large scale projects stated, “Moving 6000 Kashmiri Pandits into interim housing in the Valley is subjecting them to further inhuman conditions including risk of life. As second-class citizens they are left with nothing at the end of their tenure. A permanent solution is long overdue. There is clear precedent in the thirty autonomous zones that have been set up so far in Bharat under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution to administer micro cultures like the Kashmiri Pandits. Financing of the Hub can be obtained by creating Special Purpose Vehicles which can club the previously announced welfare schemes for new homes and job creation and gain advantage of critical mass including Transfer of Development Rights. Besides the tax base that the AAD Hub will have, there is an opportunity to reposition the 500 plus temples in key spokes such as Varahamulla, Kupwara and Srinagar to their historic role of serving the religious tourists who would come and stay at the lankars and help generate revenues.”

Dr. Shafalica Bhan, GKPD UK, a psychiatrist and mental health specialist, based in London, UK stated: “The proposed solution builds on the earlier GKPD MOU which was signed by all Kashmiri Pandit organisations and over sixteen thousand five hundred civil society members. It will meet the security needs of the long- traumatized Kashmiri Pandit community who will be able to live with their families without fear in their homeland. More importantly, any solution must result in political empowerment of the community with adequate representation and not its hegemony. This will ensure that there will be non-refoulment as long as the autonomous council is protected constitutionally and not hollowed out.”

Rakesh Kaul, GKPD Co-Founder, based in the US stated, “The task force recommendations are based on a deep understanding of the rights of the Kashmiri Pandits under International law governing indigenous people and Genocide and finding solutions which are valid under the Indian constitution. It is undisputed that the State bears full responsibility for preserving and restoring Kashmiri Pandit way of life and status pre 1990 and earlier. It must leave no stone unturned so that at least five hundred thousand Kashmiri Pandits are granted domicile rights expeditiously and that full compensation is paid for the loss of life, property, and livelihood which the task force estimates at $30 billion and rising with time. Delaying justice is expensive and therefore it behooves the state to act with dispatch to find a solution for the return, resettlement, rehabilitation and restitution of Kashmiri Pandits.”

This report will be shared with relevant institutions in Bharat and globally.

Continuous attacks on temples in Canada: 6 incidents of theft and vandalism in 10 days, Hindus in shock

Priests and devotees at temples in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) of Canada are in a state of fear as half-a-dozen temples have been vandalised and burgled over the past ten days, with cash stolen from donation boxes and even ornaments adorning murtis stolen.

According to a Hindustan Times report, these incidents targeting temples started on January 15, with an unsuccessful break-in at the Shri Hanuman Mandir in the GTA town of Brampton. Undeterred, the miscreants appear to have gone on a rampage since then.

On January 25, another temple in Brampton, the Maa Chintpurni Mandir, was broken into, with a series of similar episodes being reported in the days following at the Gauri Shankar Mandir and Jagannath Temple, both in Brampton, as well as the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga and the Hamilton Samaj Temple.

At the Hindu Heritage Centre (HHC) in Mississauga, the incident occurred on January 30, as two individuals broke in and rummaged through donation boxes and ransacked the main office. “Devotees and priests have been left traumatised with this incident,” a release from the temple said.

Each of these break-ins, according to security camera images appear to involve two persons and they have taken place between 2 and 3 AM. Images of the intruders show masked individuals in winter gear, with a backpack, and they appeared to spend a fair amount of time within the temple premises, searching for cash in donation boxes or other valuables like jewellery adoring the deities.

The release from the Hindu Heritage Centre in Mississauga said, “Peel Police have confirmed to Hindu Heritage Centre that it is the same group of individuals who are breaking into temples early morning.”

The temple has enhanced security with volunteers taking graveyard shifts to safeguard the premises. “Police have also promised to increase patrols around the temple. The community is very shocked and appalled with the high number of break-ins at temples,” the statement said.

“I feel scared when preparing for early morning prayer and keep looking around to make sure no one is there. I turn on all the lights and make sure to look out the windows before opening the temple,” Pandit Yadu Nath Sharma of the HHC said.

Devotees are equally concerned. As one of them Shubham Bharadwaj said, “I am very disheartened to hear about temples being broken into. I was very surprised to see this type of activity happening in Canada. With the number of temples broken into in a short time, this is becoming a serious law and order issue that I hope the police will be able to solve soon.”

This is not the first attack on a Hindu temple in Canada. In 2013, the Laxmi Narayan Temple in Surrey, British Columbia was vandalized by two men armed with baseball bats. They smashed three windows at the front entrance. According to reports, a bat with a Sikh last name and a ‘khanda’ was recovered from the scene.

In 2015, Shri Ram Dham Hindu Temple in Kitchener in Ontario was attacked by vandals with large rocks who smashed windows.

Growing hate crimes against Hindu temples in Western countries

Such attacks on Hindus and their temples are growing rapidly in Western nations, especially the Anglosphere. On January 26, the Swindon Hindu Temple and Cultural Centre in UK was vandalized and burgled for the sixth time in under an year. Local Hindus called it a targeted religious hate crime. In one of the earlier incidents, deities were desecrated, sacred altar and rooms vandalized, and cash & valuables worth thousands of pounds were stolen. On January 31, police finally arrested someone on suspicion of carrying out these attacks – the 39-year-old suspect (identity not revealed) from London was however released on conditional bail while ‘enquiries continue’.

In September last year, signboards proclaiming “No Dotheads” (a derogatory slur used for Hindus) sprung up in a residential neighborhood in Atlanta, USA. The appearance of these hateful signboards coincided with local Christians protesting a plan to construct a Hindu temple in the area. A proposed Hindu temple in Minneapolis also faced a hate campaign through anonymous letter full of evangelical bigotry such as – “God does not want false religion in our community, or anywhere else….Hindu Gods are false Gods.”

In 2019, a Swaminarayan Temple in Louisville, Kentucky, USA was vandalised by Christian supremacists who sprayed crosses and black paint on the deity, wrote graffiti like ‘Jesus is the only Lord’, and left a knife stabbed into a chair in the main hall. A 17-year-old white male, believed to have acted alone, was arrested for this hate crime.

In 2018, the Bhartiye Mandir situated at Regents Park in Sydney, Australia was set on fire and all murtis (embodiment of Hindu deities) and icons were smashed while local Hindus were celebrating the 9-day long Navratri festival dedicated to the feminine divine Maa Durga. Police ruled out hate crime, and it is not known if any arrests were made.

What is also notable is the asymmetry in narratives concerning Hindus vis-à-vis powerful global majorities. In 2015, a few random incidents at churches in Delhi involving short-circuitdrunkards  breaking a window pane, and one incident of petty theft were blown up to drive mass hysteria of ‘Christians under attack’. International leaders called Bharat’s PM to ensure well being of Christians in Bharat! Bharat was maligned as an unsafe country and Hindus as an intolerant community.

But repeated attacks against places of worship of law-abiding, non-proselytising Hindu immigrants in the West invite no censure from top leaders, either of Bharat or the West. But in a positive development last month, Bharat’s Ambassador TS Tirumurti called for recognition of hatred against Hindus, and other Dharmic communities like Buddhists and Sikhs, at the United Nations, similar to how phobias against the three Abrahamic religions are officially recognized.

Muslim convert, artist-turned-TMC politician Kabir Suman hurls expletives at journalist; abuses Hindus, Bengalis

An audio clip accredited to National award-winning Bengali singer and TMC politician Kabir Suman speaking to a journalist from R Bangla is making the round of social media. Though HinduPost has not independently authenticated the audio clip, as per an article published in Bengali news site Aajkal, the singer admits that he will repeat this behaviour again. The unspeakable expletives hurled at the journalist by the artist have taken the people of Bengal by shock.

Translation: The journalist opens the conversation with a “Namaskar” and introduces himself as a journalist from R Bangla. To which Kabir Suman fumes, “Republic? That piglet of a channel belonging to the RSS? That RSS TV? Hang up. Say “Jai Shree Ram” and hang up.” The journalist politely tries to convince him to talk but Suman continues, “Hang up journalist, say Jai Shree Ram and hang up” he then proceeds to say, “This is Bengal. This is not the country of your Maora (slang used for Marwaris) Hindus.

The journalist clarified that he has called as a Bengali to which Suman blasted, “I f**k Bengali’s mother. Hang up, you piglet…. BJP is paapi.. you are Bokach*da. S@@la, keep the phone down,” he also mocked the phrase “Jai Shree Ram” several times before hanging up on the journalist.

Who is Kabir Suman?

Kabir Suman is a prominent leader of the Trinamool Congress and was a Member of Parliament from 2009 to 2014 from the Jadavpur constituency. He had once showered praises on the West Bengal CM stating, “Three hundred years from now, people will worship Mamata as a deity; temples will be dedicated to her.”

Conversion to Islam

Suman was born in a Bengali Brahmin family as Suman Chattopadhyay who accepted Islam at a later point in his life. Though he stated, “I became Kabir Suman from Suman Chattopadhyay when I converted to Islam. There were anti-Muslim sentiments everywhere and therefore by converting, I wanted to share their plight, their fate. The killing of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two sons by Hindu fundamentalists made me reach a thresh-hold. It might sound crazy to some but by changing my identity or rather, embracing a different religion, I wanted to send a signal,” the reality as believed by many is that he had converted to Islam to marry a Bangladeshi Muslim singer who he started an affair with while being married to his German wife. Celebrities like Dharmendra and Mahesh Bhatt have also adopted this way out to have multiple wives.

His claim also sounds phoney because had he wanted to protest the death of the Australian Evangelist, he would have converted to Christianity. Again, being a Hindu Bengali, who had visited Bangladesh multiple times, wasn’t he aware of the persecution of the Hindus at the hands of the Muslims? If the death of one family can move him away from Hindu Dharma, how did he gravitate towards Islam being aware of how lakhs of Hindu Bengalis were slaughtered by Muslims in the Islamic nation?

Suman, who has been married five times, needed to convert to Islam and marry Bangladeshi Muslim singer Sabina Yasmin and has been a Muslim since 2001.

Kabir Suman’s Anti-Hindu stance and vulgar personality

An advocate of hijab, since his conversion to Islam, Kabir Suman has hurt Hindu sentiments repeatedly in a number of ways like calling Maa Durga an outsider, while celebrating Mahisasur. Through a poem published on his Facebook page in 2020, he suggested that Maa Durga was attracted to Mahisasur and had wanted to establish a relationship with him. In another outrageous poem, he had advocated raping Hindu daughters to avenge the alleged rape of Asifa. These poems had earned him immense flak on social media.

No photo description available.

Social media users have also come forward alleging that though he was a celebrated artist he had exposed his cultural depravity numerous times while doing shows at various colleges. He would habitually use expletives and the onlookers, assuming it was the trend, would applaud his obscenities.

The presence of Suman in the political landscape of Bengal only exhibits the cultural death the state is faced with. Though a police case has been lodged against him for this crude behaviour with the journalist and his rampant usage of expletives, it is safe to infer from available precedence that no action will be taken against Suman.

“When people can over-crowd in trains, why is triple-riding on bikes fined? We will end this”: SP-ally Om Prakash Rajbhar

1

In a seemingly bizarre poll promise, the Suheldev Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, has promised to waive off fines for those riding bikes with three people.

Rajbhar said that if the Samajwadi Party (SP)-led alliance comes to power, he will ensure that no challans are issued for ‘trippling’, or three people on a two-wheeler, in the local parlance.

The former Uttar Pradesh minister said: “We will allow triple riding on bikes and no one will be fined for this.

“It is quite common to see hundreds of people travelling in the coaches of the trains which have limited seating capacity –against 70 berths we find 300 people travelling in the compartment. Does the government or the Railway impose fine on them?”

He said that the autorickshaws and tempos also fill their vehicles with passengers more than their seating capacity but they are also not fined.

“We will make sure that triple riders are not fined,” he added.

So far, the SBSP has announced its candidates from three seats — one in Balha (Bahraich) and two in Sandila (Hardoi) and Misrikh (Sitapur).
