Saffron Think Tank files complaint against missionary event promoted by Johnny Lever

Saffron Think Tank has filed a police complaint against organizers of the event ‘Prabhu Yeshu Janmotsav’ (PYJ) promoted by actor-missionary Johnny Lever. The event is scheduled for 29 July at Mumbai’s Goregaon.

“Filed a police complaint against the organisers of an event called ‘Prabhu Yeshu Janmotsav’, to be held at Nesco, Goregaon. This is an act of fraud to allure Mumbai’s Youth for conversion, and there have been several such events in the past where there were acts of black magic”, tweeted Saffron Think Tank.

In its letter, the organization highlighted a conference termed ‘faith talks’ that claims to be a ‘Biblical encouragement’ to one’s career graph. It said that the said programme could be used to convert youth of other faiths using allurements. It further added that in the video Lever mentions an IAS officer ‘Denial Waghmare’ but as per the official IAS website, there is no officer by that name.

“As you know, the Hon. Supreme Court in its various judgments passed the order against any conversion based on allurement and fraud and we have seen in the past, several instances of conversion based on allurement and Coercion even using Black Magic. These kinds of conferences are being used to create a foundation to attract youngsters for reducing their faith in the majority practising religion in India”, the letter says.

Siddhant Mohite of Saffron Think Tank urged the police to take appropriate action and issue strict warnings to the organisers as it could lead to a law and order situation.

HinduPost had earlier highlighted that the Bollywood comedian Johnny Lever has turned into a Christian preacher. He is called ‘Brother’ Johnny Lever and is involved in full-time preaching, He has been attending ‘healing’ meetings, and performing “miracles”, just like “Mera Yeshu Yeshu” fame Pastor Baljinder Singh, for over a decade now.

Lever made outrageous claims of having treated ailments like paralysis, liver swelling and breast cancer. He hinted that he gained the “healing touch” after he started spreading the word of Jesus worldwide. He even claimed to have healed Hrithik Roshan who was allegedly suffering from a ‘chronic liver ailment’.

‘Brother’ Johnny Lever said he felt sad for Hrithik, and then Rakesh Roshan recalled that Lever had treated him during the shooting of Koyla with the ‘name of Jesus’ and asked if he could do something for Hrithik Roshan as well. Lever then called Hrithik Roshan, and spoke the magic words, “In the name of Jesus, swelling Go… In the name of Jesus, Soojan jaa…” And thus he ‘treated’ the actor. Lever also claimed that the Kaho Na Pyar Hai actor had taken Ayurveda medicines since childhood but got no respite and he, with the name of Jesus, treated him in seconds and Roshan has not taken medicine for that ailment ever again.

Lever is not the only Bollywood actor to undertake evangelical activities. In a video published on YouTube in 2019, former Miss Universe Lara Dutta can be seen stating that her father was ‘treated’ by the intervention of supernatural powers, that is the blessings of Jesus attained through the power of prayers. Superstition is a tool used by missionaries to convert people to Christianity.
