As the nation grapples with the deep shock and grief over the barbaric Pahalgam terror attack, a few individuals have chosen to mock the pain instead of standing in solidarity. While families mourn the tragic deaths of innocent Hindu tourists mercilessly gunned down in Kashmir, some elements in our society are shamelessly revealing their disloyalty and disdain for human life.
The Madhya Pradesh police arrested Wasim Khan and Tanveer Qureshi for sharing highly offensive and insensitive posts on Facebook in connection with the Pahalgam massacre. As per the Organiser, these posts, far from expressing sympathy, mocked the victims and displayed blatant communal hatred. At a time when the entire country is uniting in grief and demanding justice, such behaviour stands as a sickening betrayal of Bharatiya values.
Anti-national elements justified the Pahalgam terror attack
In their deeply offensive social media posts, Wasim Khan, supported by Tanveer Qureshi and Sheikh Mukhtar Sultani, shamelessly mocked the brutal Pahalgam terror attack by drawing a false equivalence between the cold-blooded killing of innocent Bharatiya Hindu pilgrims and unrelated incidents involving alleged violence against Muslims. Wasim Khan claimed that there was no difference between the terrorists who shot people in Kashmir and specific alleged mob incidents where Muslims were asked to chant Jai Shri Ram, maliciously branding both as terrorism.
Instead of condemning the brutal massacre, they shifted the narrative, trivialized the victims’ suffering, and attempted to communalize the tragedy. Tanveer Qureshi and Sheikh Mukhtar endorsed this disgusting comparison, openly agreeing and terming both as forms of terrorism, thereby mocking national grief and showing shocking insensitivity towards the loss of innocent lives.

Osaf Khan shamelessly insinuated that the grieving woman, whose husband was brutally murdered in the Pahalgam terror attack, might have orchestrated the killing herself. He wrote, “This woman should be investigated. Maybe she used this chance to get rid of her husband.” The disgusting comment quickly spread on social media, triggering massive public outrage over such heartless insensitivity amid national mourning.
According to police reports, the arrested individuals used social media platforms to spread derogatory comments and celebrate the violence, causing public outrage and deepening communal tensions. Their actions were morally abhorrent and legally actionable under multiple sections related to cybercrime, incitement, and disturbing communal harmony. Another individual, Islamist Mohammad Osaf, was also detained for similar actions and is being interrogated. Authorities in Madhya Pradesh acted swiftly, underscoring that mocking the dead and glorifying terrorism will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
This incident exposes a harsh reality: even during moments of national tragedy, anti-national elements exist among us, using digital platforms to spread hate and divide Bharat. Such cases must not be brushed aside as mere online misbehavior—they are symptomatic of a dangerous mindset that sympathizes with terrorism and ridicules national unity.
At a time when the soil of Pahalgam is still stained with the blood of innocents, the least one expects from fellow citizens is silence, respect, and solidarity. Instead, what we witness is a mockery of grief, a celebration of massacre, and a betrayal of Bharat. The arrests of anti-nationalistic Islamist Wasim Khan, Tanveer Qureshi, and others must serve as a warning: freedom of speech cannot become a shield for hate speech, and national tragedies cannot be reduced to digital mockery. Justice for the victims of Pahalgam must be matched with zero tolerance for those who glorify their killers.

Are these guys truly humans? If these 26 victims were Muslims, not Hindus, could they harp on the same tune?
