Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 24 August to 30 August 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) Activist Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, who was a member of the Planning Commission during the Manmohan Singh government, has said that Bangladeshis have the right to live in Bharat. She made the comment while visiting Assam in the backdrop of ongoing efforts of the start government to evict illegal encroachers from government lands and push-back illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. Her justification was that ‘Allah made the earth for humans’ and they are also humans.
1) EVR called Ayyappa Devotees as agents of filth and disease, Udhayanidhi called for eradicating Sanatana Dharma, yet Kerala Communist Government has invited Tamil Nadu (TN) Chief Minister (CM) MK Stalin to Sabarimala Ayyappa summit in Pamba, base station for the sacred Sabarimala temple. This has to be seen as a deliberate insult to crores of Ayyappa devotees, because the DMK’s very foundation is soaked in anti-Hindu venom.
2) The Mysuru Dasara, one of Karnataka’s grandest celebrations, is not just a cultural event but a deeply rooted Hindu religious tradition that traces its origins to the Vijayanagar Empire. This year, the Congress government has courted controversy by appointing Banu Mushtaq, a Muslim activist, to inaugurate the Dasara celebrations. Critics argue that this is nothing but a misplaced attempt at liberalism, disregarding the religious sanctity of the festival.
3) When devotees were bringing the murti of Bhagwan Ganesh to their home in Gujarat’s Vadodara, eggs were thrown at the vigraha in a Muslim-majority area.
4) In a shocking act of intimidation, a youth from the Ravidas community who is a resident of Daulatabad near Betma (Indore, Madhya Pradesh), was threatened with the Sar Tan Se Juda (severing of head from body) by a group of radical Islamist youths. Vikas Chauhan, had shared a video of a Maulana’s statement on his social media status. Following this, the accused allegedly targeted him, posting his picture online alongside the threatening song “Sar Tan Se Juda,” explicitly signaling intent to harm. The victim’s family promptly approached Manoj Parmar, National President of All India Balai Mahasangh, who took swift action to organize the community response.
5) The Bhopal rape case has torn away the veil of silence and once again exposed the brutal face of predatory Islamism targeting Hindu girls in Bharat. As per reports, a local court in Bhopal has formally framed charges against Islamist Farhan Khan, the main accused, and his associates, Sahil Khan, Ali Ahmad, Nabeel, Abrar, and Saad alias Shamsuddin, for committing a series of horrific crimes. These included gang rape, physical assault, blackmail through obscene videos, and pressure to forcibly convert the victims.
6) A massive illegal Islamic conversion racket operating from Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Bareilly, has been exposed by police in what officials are calling one of the most organized networks of its kind in recent years. The gang, led by 35-year-old madrasa operator Abdul Majeed, has been active for at least a decade and had built a sprawling network across 13 states and more than 20 Indian cities.
7) After VCK leader Vanniarasu’s innuendos on Bhagwan Ram and Sanatana Dharma, another Dravidian voice has followed suit in attacking it. Srividhya, a Dravidianist speaker from the little-known DNK (Dravida Natpu Kazhagam – Dravidian Friends Association), claimed that Sanatana Dharma (Hindutva) is more dangerous than stray dogs.
8) Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra stirred the hornet’s nest by declaring that the Union Home Minister Amit must be beheaded and that his severed head be placed on the table for display. Moitra made the controversial remarks while speaking about the infiltration of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants into the Indian territory.
9) Chennai’s Loyola College has been caught in a massive academic fraud through illegal Bible College. The University of Madras has confirmed serious irregularities by the Loyola College in Chennai after the university’s Inspection Commission reported that the Jesuit institution was conducting its M.A. Philosophy programme at the off-campus Jesuit centre Satya Nilayam in Thiruvanmiyur without approval.
10) A chilling case of Love Jihad has come to light in Udham Singh Nagar (Rudrapur), Uttarakhand, where an Islamist youth, Qasim, who introduced himself to a Hindu woman with the fake Hindu name Vicky, tried to trap her in a forced Islamic marriage after prolonged harassment and blackmail.
11) In a chilling case exposing the sinister tactics of Love Jihad in UP’s Rampur, a Muslim youth named Aman Siddiqui allegedly created a fake Hindu identity on social media to trap a local Hindu girl in a deceptive romance. He subsequently blackmailed her into converting to Islam; when she resisted, he resorted to threats, drawing the attention of locals who intervened and delivered him into police custody.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) Armed robbers broke into the house of Nikhil Karmakar in the Amirabad village under the Nilganj union of the Patuakhali district. The robbers tied the male members of the family and looted all the valuable things. The robbers looted around 250 gm of gold and BDT 50,000 from the house. The robbers also beat and tortured the women. The daughter and the wife of Nikhil Karmakar were also beaten.
World
1) A quaint village in northern Jaffna is currently throwing up evidence of Sri Lanka’s gross human rights abuses and poor criminal justice system, buried in the sands of time, holding within its tombs inconvenient truths the island has long preferred to keep buried. The world watches Sri Lanka with keen eyes as evidence of a mass grave re-emerges from Chemmani, in the Tamil heartland of Jaffna. These mass graves quietly hold the evidence of Sri Lankan Hindus killed and buried during years of conflict.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
