In Uttarakhand’s Rudrapur, a girl from Almora was deceived by Islamist Saif Ali, who changed his name to gain her trust. He later called her to Rudrapur under the pretext of getting her a job, where he started exploiting her and pressuring her to change her religion. Distressed, the girl informed members of a Hindu organization about her situation.
Upon hearing this, the members of the Hindu organization confronted the accused, beat him up, and handed him over to the police. The girl has filed a complaint with the police, demanding action against the accused.
The incident occurred on Ravindranagar Road on Saturday (6 July) afternoon. The girl, along with the organization members, caught Ali and accused him of love jihad. They then took him to the Housing Development Police Chowki and turned him over to the police.
The girl told the police that she is from Almora and met the man, who claimed to be named Sameer, in 2021 while he was working in finance. They became friends, and later, Sameer moved to Rudrapur and promised her a job there.
According to the girl, Sameer forced her to stay with him in a room in Jagatpura and exploited her sexually under the pretext of marriage. She later discovered his real name is Saif Ali and that he hails from Ramnagar’s Khatari. He then started blackmailing her with obscene photos and pressuring her to change her religion.
The victim has demanded action against Saif Ali. SI Lalit Chaudhary said they detained the accused based on the victim’s complaint. An investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken based on the findings.
