In Tamil Nadu, a Hindu woman has accused a Muslim man of threatening to release her nude pictures and torturing her for refusing to convert to Islam. The man hid his identity to befriend her and later forced her to get into a love affair.

Iman Hameeb befriended Pavithra, a 21 year old Hindu woman, on Instagram. One day Hameeb made a love proposal to her and threatened to take his life when Pavithra rejected it. Later she accepted it and went to Tirupur on his advice to work together. They rented a house there and lived together.

Pavithra tied a mangalsutra on her own and they lived together for 2 months in Tirupur. Pavithra came to know about his real identity only then, as he started forcing her to convert to Islam. She told the media that she didn’t know that Habeeb was a Muslim before that. Habeeb, a drunkard, beat her every day, asking her to convert and do namaz. He also forced himself upon her and took nude pictures of her.

He told her that his family would accept her only if she converted to Islam and did nikkah in a madrasa. He also abused her using casteist slurs. Unable to bear the abuse, Pavithra broke the relationship and returned to her parents. But Habeeb continued his harassment by threatening to post her intimate pictures on social media. In 2021, a few days after, Deepavali shared her intimate photos on Instagram.

Pavithra has filed a complaint with the help of Hindu Munnani in which she mentioned that Habeeb calls her relatives and friends to slander her name and threatens to kill her. A menace in the Northern parts of Bharat and having scared even the church in the neighboring state Kerala, Love Jihad appears to have entered TN as well.
