Dravidianists spew casteist slurs on singer Sivasri Skandaprasad; Dravidianists lechering for Tambram women continues

Dravidianists and followers of the Dravidian ideology have indulged in spewing casteist slurs especially against Tamil Brahmins for a very long time. One such instance came to fore a few days ago when a Dravidianist “social media influencer” named Kovai Harish, shared a clipping of a video where Sivasri Skandaprasad, a Carnatic musician (singer), Bharatnatyam dancer and also indulges in Namasankeertanam and bhajans, is seen talking about how we Bharatiyas must advocate traditional clothing. In the video, she says, “We go out wearing pants and shirts for comfort. That is not our dress code. We go out wearing coat suits in the name of formals. That is not our dress code. To suit our climatic conditions, we have had a dress code for many centuries. If we are proud of our dress code, we can proudly say that this is our Indian formals.”

But if we have a look at the entire 30-minute video of the speech she gave at an event about a year ago, she is advocating Bharatiyas to wear traditional clothing because it will be a symbol of decoloniality, a symbol of freedom from the colonial mindset.

As usual, the Dravidianists spewed venom against her being a fair-skinned Brahmin woman, well-versed in the arts.

One particular handle that goes by the name Dr Aravind Rajaa (it is unclear whether they are really a qualified physician) shared pictures of Sivasri in “Western” clothing and added the caption, “That Paapaara (casteist slur for Brahmins)… Sorry Sorry.. Bharathiya Traditional Maami (a sexist and derogatory reference to Tamil Brahmin women)“.

The case in point here are a few things:

  1. Distort her original statement/stand
  2. Post casteist slurs for those small joys of abusing a Brahmin
  3. Share pictures without consent

Several netizens including actor Kasturi spoke up in support of Sivasri only to receive casteist abuses and being named “prostitute” by the same handle that abused SIvasri.

In an interview with Smita Prakash on her ANI Podcast, advocate J Sai Deepak raised this point about Dravidian ideology and their fascination for the Brahmin woman. He said, “One of the dirtiest parts of D politics was competition for the TB woman – she was offered as the prize, with the filthiest of language and connotations being used”

Now one might wonder what these castest slurs mean.

  • Paapara/Paarpan/Paapaan – these words are used to indicate Brahmin but said as a slur
  • Mami – a term used exclusively for tambram women, who are objects of fascination for Dravidianists, used as a sexist cat call.

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa was hounded, abused, physically attacked by the DMK and Dravidianists for 2 main reasons:

  1. She was a woman
  2. She was a Brahmin (Iyengar) woman

She was often referred to as “paapathi” which is a Dravidian slur for Brahmin women. Other cases where Brahmin women have been addressed so.

Union FM Nirmala Sitharaman

We just saw the instance of J Jayalalithaa being subjected to harassment during her political career by the Dravidianists. Ever since Union Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, came to hold the post in the Union Cabinet, owing to her roots in Tamil Nadu and her Tambram background, she has been subjected to similar casteist venom and abuse by them. Here are a few instances:

Former Union minister and present DMK MP, Dayanidhi Maran made several casteist remarks against Nirmala Sitharaman. In August 2023, when he participated in a day-long fast against the continuation of the NEET exam, he made a speech and said, “In 2016, J Jayalalithaa passed away and BJP wanted to use every opportunity to come to power with the help of the “slaves” and that is why they sent “Nirmala Mami”. Ok, they sent Nirmala Sitharaman. What she does is (laughs, as someone points out why he mentioned the word Mami – he responds by saying, I said it inadvertently.)

A former judge named Chandru Krishnaswamy referred to Nirmala Sitharaman as “Oorgai Ammaiyar” or Pickle Lady (this “nickname” was created after a video of the FM making pickle at her home went viral) and this slur is also as casteist as the other slurs because it indicates Brahmin women are fit for making pickles. The post shared on his Facebook taking a dig at BJP leader H Raja reads, “Like pickle lady, he is trying to get into the Rajya Sabha through the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.”

Slurs against T Nagar Councillor Uma Anandan

BJP candidate from T Nagar in Chennai, a firebrand karyakarta named Uma Anandan became the victim of such attacks as she contested the local body elections in 2022. Several DMK members and Dravidianists spread fake news about her getting only 8 votes and made posts on Twitter calling her “8 Mami”.

Uma Anandan became popular for her firebrand speeches and her unconditional support for Godse. She was also made fun of by several YouTubers and was named “Godse mami” because she said she supported Nathuram Godse for his actions of killing Gandhi. She was also called Mylapore Mami, and such – here are a few YouTube thumbnails that depict her with a tonsure and also call her a paapathi.

In this post made by a Dravidianist named Kalidas, he makes fun of her and her family and again spread the fake news about her getting only 8 votes in the election. He wrote, “BJP Candidate from Chennai Corporation got 8 votes. She herself hailed Gandhi killer and independent India’s first terrorist Godse in a recent interview. Point to be noted, neighbours say that her family has 11 members yet she secured just 8 votes.”

A scene in a movie with a Tambram woman named Pattu mami is teased as 10 mami (Pathu mami) is shown in the meme and compared to Uma Anandan’s fake vote count.

Uma Anandan won convincingly with a huge margin in that election and became the sole BJP win in Chennai city.

DMK members abusing journalists

Journalists Sandhya Ravishankar of The Lede, Akshita Nandagopal of India Today, and Chandra Srikanth of MoneyControl have faced similar abuses from all quarters just because they are brahmins.

Chandra Srikanth was targeted when she posted about a “top leader’s son involving in a mega land grab”. The then TN Finance Minister PTR Palanivel THiagarajan quoted her post and spoke about “a certain thread ilk”. Again the word thread (nool, poonool) refers to janeu and indicates the brahmin.

The same PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan regularly targeted Sandhya Ravishankar as well as The Hindu’s Malini Parthasarathy. During his tenure as the DMK IT Wing head, he engaged in degrading behaviour against Sandhya Ravishankar, who had exposed certain inconsistencies in the narrative surrounding the Pollachi Sexual Abuse case.

While he did not call her casteist slurs, PTR has spoken derogatorily on Twitter/X to Malini Parthasarathy quite a few times.

As for Akshita Nandagopal, she has been targeted quite a few times and even called an agent of the BJP and RSS for being a Brahmin and a “nooliban” journalist. (Nooliban is a combination of the words nool (janeu) and taliban)

When she reported about the Chidambaram Dikshitar issue, all she got was abuse in the name of caste.

In the podcast with Smita Prakash, Sai Deepak also mentions how this abuse against Tamil Brahmins is mainstreamed and normalised – through literature, pop culture, theatre/cinema.

Movies have been produced that revolve around the disturbing and degrading fantasies (rape) that these low self-esteem Dravidianists have about the Tambram woman. Showing Tambram women as objects of desire was a regular feature in the 80s and 90s. Movies with the theme of tambram families was a regular feature during those times. The Brahmin woman in the film would have a “weak” husband and she would lust for a “non Brahmin”. This was regularly shown in films made by Bhagyaraj and his peers.

It’s ironic how some people express disdain for Brahmins, yet simultaneously exhibit a strong fascination, albeit in a derogatory way. These comments can be quite hurtful, especially when they appear to project an image that is unkind or unattractive. The Dravidianist ideology primarily thrives on insinuations and derogatory language, with little or no substance beyond that. What can we expect from an ideology whose founding “Father” called for “Enjoyment without Responsibility”

The Income Tax (I-T) Department on Thursday began raids at the premises of Telangana Congress leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, a party candidate who is contesting the November 30 polls from the Paleru constituency in Khammam district.

As feared by the former MP only a day ago, I-T Department officials reached his house and offices in Khammam in the early hours of Thursday.

The searches, which began at around 3 a.m., were continuing amid tight security.

The I-T officials have seized mobile phones of the employees before carrying out the searches.

Srinivas Reddy, also a businessman, was scheduled to file his nomination on Thursday.

The former MP had joined Congress in July, a few months after he was suspended by the state’s ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for anti-party activities.

On Wednesday, Srinivas Reddy had claimed that I-T searches were likely against him, his family members, supporters and other key Congress leaders in the district.

He alleged that the BJP and BRS had colluded to use the central agencies to conduct raids on Congress leaders.

He told mediapersons that these raids show that Congress party is winning the elections in Telangana.

Srinivas Reddy, who is also co-chairman of the Congress campaign committee, said the party leaders will have to face difficult times in the next few days.

The former MP asked the leaders not to worry over the raids.

On Wednesday, officials from the Election Commission of India along with the police conducted searches at the house of former minister and Congress candidate from Khammam Assembly constituency, Tummala Nageswara Rao.

Nageswara Rao had resigned from BRS recently to join the Congress party after he was denied a ticket to contest the Assembly polls.

The state’s incumbent transport minister P. Ajay Kumar is seeking re-election as BRS candidate from Khammam.

Guwahati: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the largest nationalist fourm of Bharat  and the ideologue of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, plans to increase the number of Swayamsevaks (volunteers) by its centenary year in 2025. RSS Sarkaryavah (general secretary) Dattatreya Hosabale, while addressing the media in Bhuj of Gujarat on 07 November 2023 after completion of three-day Akhil Bharatiya Karyakari Mandal Baithak, commented that  the current number of daily and weekly Shakhas conducted by RSS Swayamsevaks across Bharat is 95528.

The target has been set to extend the Sangh work to 59060 Mandals of the country by next two years. “People of all age groups come to the Shakha. Generally, Swayamsevaks do not have membership in the Sangh. This year, more than 37 lakh Swayamsevaks participated in Guru Pujan, who are Swayamsevaks belonging to our daily Shakha,” said Hosabale.

The annual meeting was attended by 357 representatives of 45 provinces and 11 regions including Sanghchalaks, Karyavahs, Pracharaks, all members of executive committee and representatives from different organizations. On 5 November, RSS Sarsanghchalak (president) Dr Mohan Bhagwat and Hosabale inaugurated the meeting with offering of floral tributes to Bharat Mata.

Tributes were paid to the individuals who have given great contribution to the nation and society at large including Pracharak Ranga Hari, Madandas Devi, Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak, Tarek Fatah, Bishan Singh Bedi, Balkrishna Jaiswal, Sushila Baluni, N. Vitthal, etc. Condolences also paid to the victims of recent earthquakes in Nepal.
Talking about Ram Janmabhoomi temple at Ayodhya, Hosabale mentioned that Shri Ram Lalla’s Pran Pratishtha is going to take place in the newly constructed site on 22 January.

Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sarsanghchalak Bhagwat to grace the occasion. To ensure that people across the country become witnesses of this historic moment from 1 to 15 January, Swayamsevaks will conduct door-to-door Sampark Abhiyan inviting people across India carrying pictures of Ram Lalla and worshiped Akshat provided by the Teerth Kshetra, added Hosabale.

Since the inception of RSS in 1925, its founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar had begun this work which is continuously growing for 98 years. On the occasion of RSS’s centenary year, efforts have been made to present issues like social harmony, rural development, environmental protection, Gau sewa and Kutumb Prabodhan in front of the society. To unite the society through social harmony, the cultural values should be passed on to the next generation through family education. In the context of environmental protection, planting trees, reducing the use of single-use plastic and conserving water should be emphasized, commented Hosabale.

In Jodhpur (Rajasthan), Sangh workers travelled 14,000 kilometer and planted 15 lakh trees. Plan to plant one crore saplings through seed ball method in Karnataka is also on the cards, revealed Hosabale. He also recalled the catastrophic earthquake of 2001 and the rehabilitation & service work inspired by the Sangh, which is still going on continuously with the efforts of swayamsevaks and the cooperation of the society. Swayamsevaks of Saurashtra-Kutch assist in the schemes running in Assam and Tripura. Thus it connects the ends of the east and west of Bharat.

In presence of RSS’s Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar during the press meet, Hosabale also stated that in view of the security of border areas across the country, efforts have been made through Seema Jagran Manch regarding health facilities, education, security, self-reliance, civic duty in those areas and this work will be carried forward at greater speed. Special efforts will also be made to increase coordination with local civil & security forces in the border areas. He also informed that the training curriculum of the Sangh has been changed, in which the curriculum will be different for every age group including youth and adults.

West insists on using ‘Swastika’ for Hitler’s Hakenkrauz because they don’t want to associate Nazism with a symbol inspired by Christianity!

“Swastika is not Hitler’s chosen symbol, so why should Hindus take blame for it?”, Frist Post, August 02, 2023:

“There is a constant attempt by the Western media to malign the Indian swastika symbol, auspicious to the Indics (Hindus, Buddhists, and Jains), by associating it with Hitler and the Nazis. Such is the impact of this constant maligning that we get to read regular news of the symbol’s removal from various institutions, flags, artwork, etc.

Here there are two aspects at work — first one being the “white man’s burden” of relegating all so-called evil things to the only surviving ancient pagan and polytheistic form of religion, Hinduism. The Western world’s belief is that Christianity being a ‘white man’s religion’ is superior, hence can do no wrong.

The second aspect of this constant association of Hitler/Nazi with the Hindu symbol swastika is an attempt at breaking down the friendly ties between Israel and India. The first aspect being the more dominant reason, this article will explore why Hitler’s hakenkreuz is not swastika, why the symbol was chosen by Hitler, and how the Sanskrit term swastika was forcibly imposed on the hooked cross and Western swastika like designs……”

Post-poll violence: SC to hear West Bengal’s suit against CBI probe on Thursday

0
temples

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned hearing the plea filed by West Bengal against the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for allegedly proceeding with investigations and filing FIRs in cases of post-poll violence without getting the state government’s nod as required under the law.

A bench of Justice BR Gavai, Justice PS Narasimha, and Justice Aravind Kumar heard the matter.

As Solicitor General Tushar Mehta requested an adjournment in the case, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for the state government, said that the case has been adjourned 9 times.

The West Bengal government, in its original civil suit under Article 131 of the Constitution, has referred to the provisions of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act 1946 and said that the Central agency has been proceeding with investigations and filing FIRs without getting the nod from the state government as mandated under the statute.

The CBI has lodged multiple FIRs in cases of post-poll violence in West Bengal.

The top court had issued notice in the suit in early September.

The state government, in its plea, has sought a stay of investigation in the FIRs lodged into post-poll violence cases by the CBI in pursuance of the Calcutta High Court order. The plea by the state government said that the general consent given to the CBI by the Trinamool Congress government had been withdrawn, and thus the FIRs lodged could not be proceeded with.

The court will resume hearing on Thursday.

2008 Jaipur serial bomb blasts: SC adjourns hearing on pleas against acquittal of four accused

The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned, to next year, hearing on pleas filed against acquittal of four men sentenced to death by the trial court in connection with the 2008 Jaipur serial blast case.

A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai, PS Narasimha, and Aravind Kumar decided to take up, on January 8, 2024, the petitions filed by the state government and family members of blast victims against the Rajasthan High Court’s order acquitting the four.

The bench refused to relax the condition requiring the accused to register their appearance on a daily basis between 10 a.m. and 12 noon before the anti-terror squad police station in Jaipur.

In an earlier hearing, the top court had declined to stay the acquittal decision by the Rajasthan High Court saying that it cannot pass an order without hearing the accused. However, it had stayed a direction passed in the high court order, delivered on March 29, asking the state’s Director General of Police to order an inquiry against the investigating officer and other police personnel involved in the case.

The Supreme Court had directed that the four people, who were acquitted, be released unless wanted in any other case, adding that all four will surrender their passports.

The Rajasthan government and family members of the blast victims moved the apex court against the high court verdict acquitting four, namely, Mohd Saif, Saifur Rahman, Sarwar Azmi, and Mohd Salman.

In May 2008, a series of blasts rocked Jaipur, leaving 71 people dead and 185 injured. A total of 13 people were made accused in this case by the police. Three accused are still absconding, while two are lodged in jails of Hyderabad and Delhi. The remaining two were killed in the Batla House encounter in Delhi.

The four accused were lodged in Jaipur jail and were sentenced to death by the trial court.
