In the village of Tardos, tehsil Chachro, district Tharparkar of Sindh province in Pakistan, a self-proclaimed social worker, Ali Akbar Rahmon and other influential Islamists expelled the entire Hindu community from their village, compelling them to endure unimaginable hardships for ten agonizing days at the Mithi Bypass under open sky.

The hardship endured by these families echoes the struggles faced by many Pakistani Hindus, who find themselves exploited as bonded laborers or ensnared in the troubling practice of forced conversion to Islam. This incident comes as yet another reminder of the ongoing genocide of Hindus in Pakistan.

After expelling the Hindu Bheel community from the village, the Islamists demolished their houses and looted their belongings.

Despite their protestations, their pleas for assistance have been disregarded, and Rahmon has not been held accountable for expelling the entire Hindu community from the village.

The harrowing incident exposed families to the elements for ten days at Mithi Bypass, where they have endured ten days of hardship. Such mass evictions and ‘punishment’ (for the ‘crime’ of being Hindu) are not uncommon in rural Sindh, where most Hindus live in appalling poverty. It is no coincidence that the parts of Sindh where Hindus are most populous are under-developed and ignored by successive governments, including the so-called liberal Bhutto-clan led PPP.

It is due to this institutionalized persecution, completely ignored by the Anglo-Saxon led international ‘ruled-based’ order, that drives thousands of Pakistani Hindus to flee to neighbouring Bharat each year. Sadly, due to the distorted notions of ‘secularism’ that have taken deep root in the present-day ‘secular’ Republic of India, these hapless refugees do not get the sort of relief and support they deserve even in Bharat. But they still are grateful for the right to live and breathe freely, and to practise their ancient Hindu Dharma like their ancestors did for millennia.
