A Muslim Author’s Verdict: How Pakistan Wages War on Its Hindus

“A Muslim Author’s Verdict: How Pakistan Wages War on Its Hindus”, StopHinduDvesha, 03 Oct 2026.

“Middle East Forum published a landmark study titled “Citizens in Name Only: Pakistan’s Vanishing Hindu Minority” on September 18, 2026, as part of its Dhimmitude Project. The author is Imran Khurshid. The piece is especially striking because Khurshid is himself a Muslim writing a documented indictment of how Pakistan has treated its Hindu citizens since 1947. It is a deeply researched paper built on 48 direct citations and more than two dozen additional references—census figures, Pakistani government records, court findings, human-rights reports, and case studies.

What follows is a summary. The full article can be accessed here: https://www.meforum.org/dhimmitude-project/citizens-in-name-only-pakistans-vanishing-hindu-minority

Pakistan was founded with a public pledge of equal citizenship. Muhammad Ali Jinnah told the Constituent Assembly in August 1947 that Hindus would be free to go to their temples, that every citizen would be first a citizen of the state, and that over time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims in the political sense. That promise lasted barely a year. After Jinnah’s death, the state moved in the opposite direction. What remains of Pakistan’s Hindu community today is not a protected minority enjoying the rights of citizenship. It is a remnant population living under a modern form of religious subordination—what the article calls neo-dhimmitude.

The numbers are the first indictment. In the territories that became Pakistan, Hindus were roughly 13.5 to 17 percent of the population at Partition. The 2023 census records them at 1.61 percent, about 3.87 million people. Mass flight in 1947 explains part of the collapse. It does not explain the rest. The community that stayed has been ground down by law, custom, violence, and official neglect for eight decades. That is not the aftermath of a chaotic birth. It is policy and culture working together……….”

  1. Surah Al-Baqarah followed by Surah At-Tawbah are the fundamental parts of outlook for devout Muslims living in an area coming under control by Muslims and dealing with minority disbelievers – their unquestionable prophet Muhammad gave no other freedom of action. Jinnah, who earlier directed Direct Action Day, was performing very much in the spirit of the Quran, and the common Muslims behavior over decades towards Hindus is not because of some politicians. If Jinnah was implicitly giving some time to mushriqs by saying Hindus and their temples are free, does not mean he was in any way challenging explicit quran directives – he was giving time and opportunities accordingly. This kind of taking his words literally, as if he was no longer allowing Quranic directives in Pakistan is just wishful thinking, even delusional.
