BJP Women’s Wing President Chitra Wagh emphasized the need for a law against love (grooming) jihad in Maharashtra on the lines of the law in Uttar Pradesh (UP).
“If we want to curb such cases, we need a law and interactions between parents and girls must be increased. Maharashtra needs a law on the lines of the love jihad statute framed by Uttar Pradesh. Many laws like ‘Shakti’ and ‘Vishaka’ have been formulated against sexual harassment of women and girls. Still, all need to take the initiative to ensure their effective implementation”, Wagh answered a question asked by reporters in connection with the Shraddha Walkar case.
Wagh added that security is an essential issue for the party and that at least 25 per cent of BJP’s booth-level workers would be women in the forthcoming elections. She also said that most women in the legislative council belonged to BJP. Wagh also said they would appeal to the party to give maximum representation to capable and eligible women in the future.
Recently, a rally was held in Maharashtra’s Dhule demanding the passing of a law to curb the menace of grooming jihad. The participants demanded laws against forced conversions and love jihad as well as strengthening laws against cow slaughter.
Hindus in Dhule and Malegaon are faced with these problems with several cases of love jihad, forced conversions, and cow slaughter coming to the fore from these cities. Hence, a large number of Hindus, girls & women, in particular, joined the rally organized by Sambhaji Bhide Guruji. According to police, more than fifty thousand people joined the rally which included differently-abled, children, and women among others.
