Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.
In this weekly summary for the period from 27 July to 02 August 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:
Bharat
1) Purification rituals were performed at the Shiv Mandir in Dadri village, Daurala, after it was discovered that a Muslim man had been fraudulently living there by posing as a pujari. The man, identified as Qasim, a resident of Sitamarhi in Bihar, had been living in the temple for over six months, masquerading as a pujari named ‘Krishna’.
2) Agra Police revealed that a religious conversion racket uncovered earlier this month had international links, with several girls allegedly in contact with individuals in Pakistan. The network, according to investigators, operated through social media, online games, encrypted communication platforms, and the dark web.
3) A 26-year-old Hindu woman of Kolkata was allegedly assaulted by an app cab driver on her way to Salt Lake from Baguiati home. The brave woman fought back and got the accused cab driver arrested. The accused cab driver, Shahbaz Ali, had allegedly kicked her in the abdomen and twisted her right arm after she refused to pay ₹40 extra over the fare generated on the app.
4) In a case that has reignited the debate over foreign-funded religious conversions in Bharat, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police have arrested an American national and his Bharatiya associate for allegedly attempting to convert locals to Christianity using financial incentives. A minor has also been detained in connection with the incident. Police have identified the accused as Schaefer Javin Jacob (41) from California, USA, and Steven Vijay Kadam (46), a resident of Raisoni Society in Pimpri.
5) Karnataka High Court (HC) quashed an FIR filed against three Muslim men who were accused of preaching Islam and distributing religious pamphlets near the Ramatheerth Mandir in Jamkhandi, Bagalkot district. The incident allegedly took place on 4 May 2025, around 4:30 pm. The men were accused of promoting Islamic teachings to temple visitors, making derogatory remarks against Hindu Dharma, and allegedly offering incentives such as vehicles and jobs in Dubai to encourage people to convert.
6) After several alarming incidents in Uttar Pradesh, a similar and deeply disturbing case has emerged in Uttarakhand’s Ranipokhari region. A well-organized and secretive conversion racket aimed at targeting and converting Hindu girls to Islam has been exposed by local police. This planned operation involved psychological manipulation, social media grooming, and logistical support to abduct and convert Hindu girls under the guise of love and marriage.
7) In the early hours of 29 July 2025, three masked individuals entered Bajaj Street near Halasuru Market, doused a lone Hindu‑owned vegetable shop and around ten two‑wheelers with petrol, and set them ablaze. CCTV footage captured the perpetrators wearing cloths over their faces. The shop gutted belonged to Mr. Mahalingam B, a vendor serving the community for over thirty years. No other shops in the vicinity were damaged.
8) In the early hours of July 24, the sacred Peddamma Thalli Mandir in Hyderabad was secretly demolished at 3:30 AM under complete darkness and with no official notice. As per reports, the demolition was carried out covertly, and the murti of Bhagwan was smuggled out through the rear gate, while Hindu devotees and activists, completely unaware of the operation, staged a protest at the front of the mandir premises.
9) After their ‘Bhagwa terror’ plot failed, Congress has come up with a new ploy to defame Hindus. ‘Sanatani terrorism’ is the new term coined by Congress leader and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to defame Hindu Samaj.
10) In a major breakthrough on 31 July, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested the main accused in Jiribam massacre in Manipur where 6 members of a Meitei family were murdered brutally. The arrested accused has been identified as Thanglienlal Hmar (40). He was arrested from Lakhipur area of Assam’s Cachar district.
Bangladesh
Attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh are relentless and designed to cleanse the religious minority from the country gradually. According to a study by Prof. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, no Hindus will be left in Bangladesh by 2050 due to systemic and institutionalized persecution. Temple desecration, land grabbing, mob attacks after false blasphemy charges, rape/forced conversion of women, and hate speech are tools used to intimidate and drive Hindus out.
1) Ronjon Roy was arrested over unproven charges of ‘blasphemy’. The incident occurred in Gangachara Upazila in Rangpur district. According to reports, the victim was accused of insulting Islam and making derogatory posts on Facebook about Prophet Muhammad. It was claimed that he uploaded the said posts from the ID ‘Ronjon Roy Lrm’ over a span of 5 days.
2) A strong mob of 500-600 Muslims attacked over 15 Hindu homes and carried out looting and vandalism under the pretext of ‘blasphemy.’ The incident occurred in the Betgari Union in Gangachara Upazila in Rangpur district. The violent Muslim mob selectively targeted minority homes and looted their belongings. Fearing for their safety and security, at least 50 minority families have fled the area.
World
1) Muslims organizations from Bangladesh are actively working to change the religious demographics in Nepal, which is the only Hindu-majority country other than Bharat in the entire Bharatiya Subcontinent. These Islamic outfits are doing what is known as ‘Tabligh.’ They are building mosques, crowdfunding to convert Hindus and change religious demographics in the Himalayan country.
Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
We request all readers to share other anti-Hindu hate crimes that we might have missed in this period in the comments below or by emailing [email protected]. We also solicit support in maintaining the Hindu human rights tracker database.
