Hindu hater Bishop Suresh Kethera’s wife Henry Christina has been elected as the Zilla Parishad Chairperson of Guntur district. As it is a SC reserved constituency, Legal Rights Protection Forum(LRPF) has written to the Election Commission challenging her candidature. Recently Guntur district collector had declared that Bishop Suresh Kathera is a SC Hindu.
LRPF had earlier unearthed FCRA violations of bishop Kathera’s missionary organisation, Harvest India, and filed a complaint with the Ministry of Home Affairs. Bishop Kathera had told his foreign audience that “Pastors are killed..churches are burning..our PM is a bad guy. He doesn’t want Christians in India” in a viral video. Both Kathera and his wife are YSRCP members.
Mandru Sarla Kumari, a native and SC Hindu of Guntur had filed complaints with the district administration regarding the conversion activities of bishop Suresh Kathera and his wife Henry Christina. She had provided ample evidence to prove that the pastor and his family follow Chrisianity but hold SC Hindu certificates to illegally avail government benefits. Shockingly after investigation the collector had declared that Kathera and family are SC Hindus even though they run 10 bible colleges and a church named King’s Temple.
Now the wife has contested from a SC reserved seat and won. MPs, MLAs of YSRCP and even the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh assembly were present in her swearing-in ceremony. The Hindu reported her as saying, “We are forever grateful to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had fulfilled his promise of elevating a Dalit woman to the coveted post. We assure that we will live up our leader’s expectation and ensure that welfare schemes are taken to the doorstep of the people”. Bishop Suresh Kathera had revealed his intention to go on “a crusade in the enemy stronghold, Koduru, Andhra” in another video.
When the bishop was declared as SC Hindu by the district collector, SC/ST rights activists expressed fears that it might set a precedent to lakhs of converts claiming the same to avail reservation and other government benefits. Now a Christian convert has been elected as Zilla Parishad Chairperson from a seat reserved for SC Hindus. Such brazen violation of law in favour of Christians is expected to rise with the blessings of Christian CM Jagan Reddy. It is to be seen whether at least the Election Commission will act on LRPF’s complaint and uphold the law.
