Rafiq brutally stabbed and killed Ranjitha; alleged love jihad, Hindu organizations call for a bandh in Yellapur on January 4, KA

Tension has gripped Yellapur town of Uttara Kannada after a Hindu woman, Ranjitha of Kalamma Nagar, succumbed to injuries sustained in a brutal knife attack allegedly carried out by an Islamist man identified as Rafiq. As per Asianet News Kannada reports, the shocking incident has sparked widespread outrage across the district, with Hindu organizations calling for a complete Yellapur bandh today to protest the killing and demand immediate justice. The case has also triggered suspicion of Love Jihad, further intensifying concern.

According to police sources, Ranjitha was stabbed in the neck, causing severe internal injuries and excessive blood loss. She was initially rushed to the Yellapur government hospital and later shifted to Hubballi for advanced treatment, but doctors declared her dead after she failed to respond. Following the incident, Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepak MN and DySP Geetha Patil visited the crime scene, collected evidence, and launched an intensified manhunt to trace and arrest the accused Islamist.

Reacting sharply, Hariprakash Konemane, spokesperson of BJP Karnataka, warned against police inaction or external pressure influencing the investigation. He recalled a disturbing earlier case from the taluk where an alleged sexual assault on a minor Hindu girl did not reach its legal conclusion due to intimidation and fear faced by the victim’s family. He stated that repeated incidents targeting Hindu women in Yellapur are deeply alarming and reflect a dangerous breakdown of law and order.

According to preliminary information, the accused, Rafiq, allegedly became enraged after an argument with Ranjitha. Ranjitha is said to have clearly told him that she did not wish to marry again, stating that she had already experienced marriage once and did not want to go through it again. She had obtained a divorce nearly ten years ago and was living with her parents, brother, and child. Ranjitha was employed as a midday meal assistant at a government school. During this period, she came into contact with Islamist Rafiq, and their acquaintance reportedly turned into a relationship. Families on both sides were familiar with each other, and Rafiq frequently visited her home. However, when he began insisting on marriage, Ranjitha repeatedly opposed it, making it clear that she wanted the relationship to remain as it was and did not consent to marriage, a refusal that allegedly led to the fatal attack.

Neck slashed in cold blood by Rafiq

The accused Islamist, Rafiq, allegedly carried out a brutally violent assault on Hindu woman Ranjitha by slashing her throat with a knife, displaying extreme cruelty and intent to kill. The attack was so vicious that it caused severe damage to her lungs, leading to massive blood loss and critical internal injuries. The sheer brutality of the assault has shocked the conscience of the public, with many questioning how such a savage crime could be carried out with such impunity. Despite emergency medical intervention, the injuries inflicted were fatal, exposing the inhuman nature of the predatory Islamist Rafiq.

BJP and Hindu organizations calls for Yellapur bandh

He expressed concern over the increasing number of such incidents in the region and stated that the latest murder would compel collective deliberation on the future course of action. As a mark of protest against what he described as inhuman acts and to demand justice for the victim, Hindu organizations have called for a complete Yellapur town bandh on Sunday, urging the public to extend their support.

Condemning the murder as an inhuman and intolerable act, Hindu organizations announced a town-wide bandh today to protest the killing and to demand the swift arrest of the accused. Shops, commercial establishments, and transport services are expected to remain shut, while police have imposed tight security across Yellapur to prevent any untoward incidents. Protesters have made it clear that Hindu society’s patience should not be mistaken for weakness and that selective silence or delayed justice will no longer be accepted. The coming hours will be crucial in determining whether the state machinery acts decisively or allows public anger to escalate further.

What is happening in Karnataka, and where is law and order? This is not the first incident of its kind. Over the last two years, Karnataka has become a victim of such horrific crimes, similar to the Hubballi Neha murder case, especially against Hindus. Radical Islamist elements are allegedly being shielded under the Congress government’s cheap vote-bank politics, and they are not being brought to justice. The Siddaramaiah government is accused of supporting or protecting killers and conversion agents through inaction and selective enforcement. How are Hindus supposed to feel safe in Karnataka under such circumstances? If this continues, it seems only Bhagwan can save the people of Karnataka.
