Muslim man Chand forced a Hindu girl into nikah & renamed her Shabnam: UP

Muslim man Chand forced a Hindu girl to marry him according to the Muslim Tradition (nikah). Additionally, he also forcibly changed the girl’s religion and renamed her Shabnam. Moreover, the girl is reported to have been raped multiple times by Chand. The Child Welfare Committee performed the victim’s medical examination. A complaint has been filed against the accused by a member of Nari Utthan Kendra (Women Upliftment Centre). The case was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha. The police are currently investigating the incident.

Chand, a resident of Shahpur Kalan in the Hasanpur Kotwali area, coerced a teenage Hindu girl living in the Rajpura police station area of Sambhal on Saturday (27 January) and brought her to Amroha court for a court marriage. Bajrang Dal workers learned about the couple and suspected a case of love jihad. Following this, District Convenor Kushal Chaudhary, Co-convenor Virendra Kumar, and Abhishek arrived at the location with other members of the organization and a sizable local population.

When Chand attempted to flee, Bajrang Dal members apprehended him immediately. The accused was taken into custody by the Amroha Dehat police station as soon as they arrived on the scene following the receipt of the information. The girl was later presented before the Child Welfare Committee for medical treatment.

In this instance, a case has been filed under the POCSO Act and the Religious Conversion Act. Rape charges were also filed against Chand and his accomplices in response to a complaint made by Nari Utthan Kendra member Usha Sharma. It further came to light that the girl was converted to Islam by the accused Chand, who also renamed her Shabnam and forced her to undergo nikah (Islamic marriage). The girl is currently being held in the safe house.
