Cricket coach Abrar Hussain, father of 2, accused of raping, assaulting & extorting money from female player: Udaipur, Rajasthan

Cricket coach Abrar Hussain aka ‘Sonu’ has been accused of raping a female player in Udaipur, Rajasthan after she turned down his marriage proposal. Hussain is married & has two kids. The girl was blackmailed for many months, and also physically assaulted and threatened by Hussain when she joined another cricket academy.

Hussain is a resident of Hiran Magri in Udaipur and has a cricket academy in Titardi area of the city. The girl first met him around 2 years ago when she joined his academy for coaching. He soon started messaging her and calling her up, and proposed marriage. After the girl turned him down, he continued to harass and stalk her.

In 2021, he forced her to meet him at a hotel located in Eklingpura area where he raped her. He also grabbed her gold chain and demanded Rs. 15K for its return. Later, he started blackmailing the survivor with her obscene video/photo captured during the sexual assault, and extorted Rs. 1 lakh from her over many months.

After the girl took admission in another academy, on March 5 he accosted her and forcefully took her to Fatehsagar lake. He pressurized her to come back to his academy, and when she refused he started hitting her. He broke her mobile and threatened to cut her up and throw her in the lake. Soon, a crowd gathered, at which point Hussain ran away.

Finally, the distraught girl mustered the courage to lodge a police complaint on Saturday at Hathipol police station. Hussain is currently absconding, and police is on the lookout for him.
