Tension has gripped a village in Faridpur after police reportedly failed to register a formal case following an alleged attack on a Hindu household and the vandalism of a private temple.
According to local sources, the incident took place on Saturday night (April 27) in Kashimabad Purbo Para, Kanaidangi village, under Kanaipur Union of Faridpur Sadar. A group of Islamists allegedly attacked the residence of Ramchandra Mondal, damaging the temple inside his home and vandalizing several Murtis.
But, why the Islamists attacked the Hindu family and the temple, is not clear yet.
During the incident, a few Muslim neighbours reportedly came forward to assist and helped rescue the affected Hindu family members, preventing further harm. Although, locals and neighbours failed to catch any perpetrators from the spot.
A written complaint was later submitted to the Kotwali Police Station in Faridpur. A police inspector visited the site and confirmed the authenticity of the incident, according to the complainants. However, despite this, the complaint has not yet been officially registered as a case.
The delay has raised concerns among local residents, with many expressing fear and uncertainty over safety and justice. The members of the minority Hindu community have urged authorities to take prompt legal action against those responsible.
No official statement has yet been issued by the police regarding the reasons behind the delay in filing a case against the accused Islamists.
As of now, the Hindu family has been living in fear as no arrests has been made.
