“By viewing dissent as problematic, serious questions have been raised about India’s electoral processes without a shred of evidence.
A recent news report raising questions about the internal workings of the Election Commission of India has set off a dangerous precedent in Indian electoral history. By viewing dissent as problematic, the news report attempts to raise serious questions about India’s electoral processes without a shred of evidence. It appears to be an attempt to put doubts in the minds of voters regarding the country’s electoral processes; that this can have disastrous consequences, has been conveniently ignored by the news report. The publication of a report on Indian Army units marching to Raisina Hill in 2012, while grabbing eyeballs, was an attempt to show that distrust existed between the Indian Army and the government, without any evidence…….”
