YouTuber Maridhas who exposed “Dravidian Stock” handles mocking CDS’s death arrested by DMK government

Tamil YouTuber Maridhas has been arrested by TN police allegedly for his tweet questioning DMK government’s inaction against anti-Bharat elements. Following the unfortunate chopper crash and the death of CDS Bipin Rawat he had tweeted wondering whether Tamil Nadu is becoming another Kashmir. Contrary to the belief that he insinuated a conspiracy behind the incident, he had merely doubted whether the DMK government was hand in gloves with those who had tweeted celebrating the great general’s death.

Maridhas had tweeted in Tamil, “Is TN turning into another Kashmir under DMK rule? If there is freedom to put together a group that dares to commit treason against the country, then there is a possibility of sabotage. Secessionist forces must be dealt with a firm hand”. The tweet has dince been deleted. As the news of the crash started coming in many handles that call themselves “Dravidian stock” could be seen tweeting in Tamil celebrating the crash and the general’s death. There were also screenshots of reactions to FB posts regarding the news, especially from a specific religion, being shared widely.

In the above mentioned tweet Maridhas had merely pointed to these posts and reactions which amounts to treason and wondered whether the DMK rule is encouraging such elements who were dormant earlier. He is said to have been arrested from his house in Madurai for posting this specific tweet. To give you context, in another tweet he said “We can see many DK, DMK supporters mocking the general’s death and posting laughing emojis. They do this every other time. It is an undeniable fact that DMK continues to be the great choice for separatist forces.”

TNBJP leader H.Raja had shared a few such posts. The first one says “if Modi had traveled in it we could have poured milk. Still this is also a good result”. Pouring milk is a part of the Hindu funeral ceremony. Second tweet, from a Muslim says, “I don’t consider his death of more value than the cries of my Kashmiri women”.

The next one heaps insults on the general calling him “a pawn of RSS and BJP, sutradhar (coordinator) of Kashmir civilians’ murder, the one who formed murder squads in the North East, sowed discontent between the chiefs of armed forces, one who brought corruption in arms purchase, in total the one who saffronised the army which protected the nation”. The last one quotes a tweet from a media confirming that the general indeed took the chopper says, “Oh BJP”.

Maridhas had merely drawn attention to such tweets even as the late general was fighting for his life.

There are some other media reports claiming that he was arrested for ‘spreading misinformation’ about a case of alleged custodial death. A 21-year-old college student, Manikandan, had died a few hours after being taken to the police station. In contrast to the Jayaraj, Fenix father-son duo’s custodial death, Manikandan’s death was neither reported nor discussed by the mainstream media.

Maridhas has been exposing DMK-MSM nexus for a long time and even got Gunasekaran, son-in-law of an influential Dravidianist family, removed from his News18 editor post following the latter’s bias in reporting. Similarly he seems to have exposed the media’s silence on Manikandan’s death and the reason behind it. He has also been exposing DMK’s links with FCRA funded missionaries and Breaking India forces.

So it was only a matter of time that he was hounded with vendetta since DMK came to power. Now, as speculations about the chopper crash are thick in the air, the DMK government seems to have found a perfect opportunity to misinterpret his tweet and incarcerate him. Since coming to power the DMK government has arrested Kishore K Swamy, Seethayin Mainthan aka Dakshinamurthy, Sattai Durai Murugan etc, with the former two languishing in jail for months.

Kishore and Dakshinamurthy merely shared some facts aka ‘inconvenient truths’ about Dravidian leaders CN Annadurai and EV Ramasamy respectively. When DMK was not in power and those behind Karuppar Koottam, a notorious Dravidianist anti-Hindu propaganda channel, were arrested, MK Stalin called it as ‘curbing free speech’ despite the fact that they hurt the religious sentiments of crores of Hindus. But now, when his party’s and government’s present and past misdoings are discussed, he arrests people under frivolous charges.

All of them along with the latest victim Maridhas have been booked under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), 505(1) (b) (causing fear or alarm to the public, or to any section of the public whereby any person may be induced to commit an offense against the State or against the public tranquility) and 505(1)(c) (Whoever makes, publishes or circulates any statement or report containing rumor or alarming news with intent to create or promote, or which is likely to create or promote feelings of enmity, hatred or ill-will between different religious, racial, language or regional groups or castes or communities) of Indian Penal Code.

If Maridhas was arrested for the concerned tweet as is reported, the sections don’t apply to him, but rather the handles and people he exposed as celebrating and mocking the general’s death. However while other states are arresting those who made derogatory remarks about the deceased and mocked their death, in TN no action has been taken on any of them. It gives credibility to the question Maridhas raised about DMK being the great choice of traitors and his arrest is only going to further fuel the question.
