Tamil Nadu police climb walls at midnight to remove Bharat Mata statue from BJP office

In a ridiculous move by the INDIA aka UPA ally DMK, Tamil Nadu police climbed walls in the dark of the night to remove the Bharat Mata statue from a BJP office. Revenue officials broke the lock to remove the statue claiming that it was placed on the office premises without permission. PM Modi mentioned the incident in his speech on a no-confidence motion saying that DMK denied the right even to worship Bharat Mata.

The statue was placed inside the BJP head office in Virudhunagar district on the occasion of State President K Annamalai’s ‘En Mann, En Makkal’ pada yatra reaching the district. As per the itinerary of his padayatra President Annamalai was to enter the district between August 9-11. To commemorate it and to welcome him, functionaries decided to install a small statue of Bharat Mata made of black stone. It was placed in front of the entrance door located well inside the premises on August 7.

As per media reports, police arrived at the headquarters in the afternoon and told functionaries that the statue cannot be placed without obtaining prior permission from authorities. They also asked them to remove the statue immediately. However, an argument broke out between the two as BJP functionaries pointed out that they had proper documents for the land and were well within their limits to place the statue. They agreed to cover the statue until BJP talked to the authorities to obtain permission.

Following this, cops reportedly left the spot only to arrive well past midnight to forcibly remove the statue. If videos doing rounds on social media and media reports are to be believed, cops scaled over the compound wall of the BJP headquarters to reach inside. Revenue officials who arrived with them used ‘high-end’ tools to break the lock of the gates to enter the building forcibly.

Condemning this highhandedness, State President Annamalai said that under the corruption-ridden DMK government in Tamil Nadu there is no right to even install a statue of Bharat Mata in a property owned by a party”. Hinting at ministers Thangam Thennarasu and KKSSR Ramachandran he further said, “This is the result of the fear of two DMK ministers hailing from the district as our ‘En Mann, En Makkal’ yatra has been exposing the corruption of the DMK government.”

PM Modi recalled this incident in his speech while replying to the no-confidence motion brought by the opposition mentioning that people were denied the right to worship Bharat Mata in TN. He also recollected TN Public Works minister EV Velu’s speech where he said, “The word India never had any impact on us. When has the word India had any impact on us? India is someplace in the North. We belong to Tamil Nadu. If possible, we have to create a Dravida Nadu. Our thought process was going in that direction.
