DMK government arrests YouTuber for exposing Periyar’s ‘real face’

The DMK government in Tamil Nadu has been on a spree arresting those who express dissent against their ideology. A Tamil nationalist Youtuber who exposed the real face of Periyar aka EV Ramasamy has been arrested for “abusing him in an obscene language”.

YouTuber and Tamil nationalist Dakshinamurthy posting videos under a pseudonym Seethaiyin Maindhan, has been exposing the real face of EV Ramasamy aka Periyar through books published by Periyarist organisations. He had uploaded 2 videos revealing the real life incidents before and after EV Ramasamy came to public life.

Videos with the title ‘The real face of EV Ramasamy part-1 and part-2’ released by him were based on ‘Tamilar Thalaivar’, a book written by Periyarist Samy Chidambaranar, personally reviewed by EV Ramasamy himself and published in 1939. He had exposed how Periyar, touted as a champion of women empowerment, was in fact an “excellemt businessman” in the field of prostitution with no one to match him.

In the video, excerpts from the book are highlighted to show the real character of EV Ramasamy, on how he pimped women even after marriage. He would take prostitutes and go to the banks of Cauvery with his friends in the night and would return only the next morning. His wife Nagammai used to send food for everyone without the knowledge of his parents.

Dakshinamurthy had highlighted these, and many such incidents from the book establishing the fact that EV Ramasamy was a drunkard and a pimp in his personal life. He had recently given an interview to Zhagaram YouTube channel in which he criticised Dravidianist and Periyarist organisations like Dravidar Kazhagam, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, etc.

He had asked the prominent leaders of these organisations, citing their caste, why they were cheating Tamils in the name of Dravidam. He had asked them to go propagate their ideology in Andhra, Karnataka and Kerala (some of the prominent Dravidianist leaders belong to Kannadiga and Telugu castes). He had criticised Periyarists for cheating people in the name of Dravidam for 100 years and with power for 50 years at that. He had mocked them that if they had sense shouldn’t they have left TN when they haven’t been able to succeed in forming Dravida Nadu.

Clips of the interview went viral and it appears to have touched the nerves of Periyarists. Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam had lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Seethayin Mainthan had abused EV Ramasamy and Dravidianist leaders in vulgar language and intentionally spread lies. Following this complaint Dakshinamurthy has been arrested by TN police and booked under sections pertaining to promoting enmity among different groups, intentionally insulting and provoking disharmony and intent to incite violence.

In other news, BJP leader Kalyanaraman who was earlier arrested for speaking about prophet Muhammad and came out of jail only recently has been arrested again. When a Dravidianist said that EV Ramasamy fought for the freedom of women, Kalyanaraman had mockingly said that “perhaps EVR went to prostitutes to liberate them and Karunanidhi also went to a prostitute for the same reason”. He had alluded to the incident mentioned by lyricist Kannadasan who was in close contact with Karunanidhi during his Kollywood days.

DMK MP Dr.Senthil Kumar had warned in Twitter that he’ll be locked up in jail for such comments and filed a complaint against him for “abusing women in an intent to harass and cause harm/ cyberbullying demeaning leaders”. Kalyanaraman was arrested a few hours after the MP tweeted “You will never forget me for the present that I am going to give you. Enjoyyyyy….The final GoodBye Mr. @BjpKalyaan”. Later he gloated about it and tweeted that even Kalyanaraman’s Twitter id would be suspended.

The DMK government has been targeting dissenting voices since it has come to power on superfluous charges for exposing the government’s inability and Dravidian Movement’s real face. Earlier another YouTuber Kishore K Swamy was arrested under Goondas act and is still languishing in jail. He was arrested after a furore from DMK sympathisers demanding his arrest for tweeting about the sleazy side of CN Annadurai and EVR.
