Case registered against Hindu activist Sangram Patil

A case was registered against Hindu activist Sangram (Akshay) Dhole Patil for organizing an Aarti in front of the Ganpati murti at Pune’s Saras Baug, which drew a crowd. The Saras Baug Ganpati temple attracts devotees from all over Maharashtra. However, tensions escalated when Hindu activists learnt of Namaz being offered at the site, prompting a response from the Hindu organizations. In response, Sangram Khube organized Aarti every Friday.

Subsequently, a case was registered against Khube at the Swargate police station, and he has been mandated to adhere to ten specific directives. It has come to light that police officer Jitesh Chavan filed the complaint following the instructions of Pune CP (Commissioner of Police) Amitesh Kumar. Anand Dave, president of the Hindu Mahasangh, condemned the action against Khube.

Devotees across Maharashtra visit the Saras Baug Ganpati temple to seek blessings from the deity known for fulfilling vows. The filing of a case against Khube for organizing an Aarti has left many surprised.

Hindu Samaj’s united response to the Police’s uncalled-for action

Responding to the biased actions of the Pune Police, the Sakal Hindu Samaj (United Hindu Samaj) came together on Friday (July 12) evening to perform Shiv Vandana and Mahaarati in solidarity with Sangram Patil.

Hindu Samaj showed their solidarity with the youth by being present in large numbers for the event. Leaders, including Dr Medha Kulkarni, Rajyasabha Member of Parliament (RS MP) and Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mahila Morcha Vice-President, led the Mahaarati. Dhiraj Ghate, Milind Ekbote, Anagha Ghaisas, Saraswati Shendge, Bapu Mankar, Jayant Bhave, and Mahendra Devi attended the event.

Medha Kulkarni spoke to the media and said that meat consumption on the premises would not be tolerated. “Anyone who wants to consume meat should do so at their homes. This temple is a sacred place for Hindus, and such activities are unacceptable. Srimant Peshwa Madhavrao established this place where only Shiv Vandana and Bhagwan Ganpati’s arati should take place,” she said.

She also expressed solidarity with Hindu youth Sangram Patil, terming his arrest as both wrong and unacceptable. Medha said the police cannot register a case against those peacefully performing Shiv Vandana. She informed the media that she would apprise Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Devendra Fadnavis about the case and ensure the youth gets justice.

The police action against the Hindu youth instead of illegal namazis highlights the deep-seated anti-Hindu nature of the secular state and bureaucracy. Even more unfortunate, the incident occurred in Maharashtra, where ‘Hindutvawadi’ Mahayuti Sarkar is in power.
