The incident occurred in Bengaluru’s Frazer Town area and has now been added to a growing list of cases that have sparked allegations of coercion and targeted harassment across the state. The victim, a model by profession, had initially met Islamist Zuhaib through work-related assignments. What began as a professional association gradually turned into a personal acquaintance. However, from 2024 onwards, the accused Islamist allegedly began persistently pressuring her to marry him.
According to TV9 Kannada reports, the accused and the victim had initially met through professional circles in the modelling industry. What began as a work-related acquaintance gradually turned into a personal connection. However, the situation took a disturbing turn when the accused allegedly began pressuring the woman to marry him.
Despite the woman’s repeated refusals, Zuhaib’s behavior reportedly became increasingly aggressive. He allegedly issued explicit death threats, warning that he would kill her if she continued to reject his proposal. The situation escalated into violence when he attacked her in Frazer Town, leaving her with injuries on her face and the back of her head. In a video that quickly went viral, the victim is seen documenting her injuries and recounting the assault.
‘She must die’: Messages highlight chilling death threats by Zuhaib
Further evidence has reportedly surfaced in the form of message exchanges attributed to the accused, in which he allegedly stated that he would kill the woman and that she “deserved to die.” He is also said to have made boastful remarks about having no shortage of money or women.
Displaying considerable courage, the victim approached the Frazer Town police and filed a formal complaint. Taking note of the seriousness of the allegations, the police acted swiftly and arrested the accused Islamist. He is currently under interrogation as the investigation progresses.
Further intensifying the gravity of the case, alleged WhatsApp messages from the accused have surfaced, in which he reportedly stated, “I will kill her” and “She must die.” He is also accused of making arrogant remarks, claiming he had no shortage of money or women. The case has once again drawn attention to a pattern of similar incidents reported from different parts of Karnataka. In recent months, multiple cases involving coercion, threats, and allegations of forced conversion have surfaced, including one from Hubballi where a gym trainer was accused of filming a woman and pressuring her to convert.
How could such a brazen attack on a woman take place in broad daylight? Where is the sense of safety in a city like Bengaluru? Where is Chief Minister Siddaramaiah? Where is the Home Minister? Where is the state government that frequently speaks about women’s safety and empowerment?
The same government that invites figures like Banu Mushtaq for high-profile events such as the Mysuru Dasara inauguration and speaks at length about women’s empowerment must now answer a more pressing question: what about the safety and dignity of Hindu women on the ground? Hindus are being sidelined, and grievances always remain unaddressed.
