Yesterday, on Sunday, many Hindus, estimated to be over 1 lakh, attended the Gita Paath event in Kolkata’s Brigade Parade Ground. In the program, participants in traditional attires recited Shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita.
PM Narendra Modi, who couldn’t attend the event, sent a message of appreciation to the organisers. In his message, the PM said, “The event will energise the nation’s development journey.”
“Our cultural heritage is an amalgamation of lofty traditions, profound knowledge and philosophical-spiritual wisdom. Inclusivity, cultural diversity and harmony are our inherent strengths. From the Times of Mahabharata to our freedom movement, down to the present day, Bhagavad Gita continues to inspire one and all.”
Emphasising the Bhagavad Gita’s timeless relevance, PM Modi said, “Whether it is Jnana, Bhakti, Karma or any other path, the Gita offers multiple different but eventually connected paths to attain progress.”
Notably, the event was organised by the Lokho Konthe Gita Paath Committee, a joint committee of several organisations. Prominent faces of Bengal BJP attended the program, including Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, State BJP President Sukanta Majumdar and several MLAs and MPs.
Adhikari said, “This is not just a Gita Paath program, but also an effort to unite Hindus of West Bengal. I believe the Hindus of the state will unite and will rise again.”
