Attacks on Hindus and Hindu Dharma, both in Bharat and overseas, are frequent and unrelenting. In many regions of the world, this persecution is like a genocide slowly unfolding before our eyes. For decades, the world has ignored the actual depth and breadth of these attacks, driven by disturbing anti-Hindu bigotry. From murders, forced conversions, land grabs, assault on festivals, desecration of temples and murtis, hate speech, and sexual violence to institutionalised & legal discrimination, Hindus are facing an increasing assault on their very existence along with an unprecedented Hindu hatred.

In this weekly summary for the period from 13 July to 19 July 2025, we hope to provide a snapshot of such crimes and hopefully awaken more people around the world to this human rights crisis:

Bharat

1) In another development in the Balrampur Islamic conversion racket, it has come to light that Maulana Jalaluddin tried to lure Sanchit, who worked as a sweeper in the Maulana’s residence, and convert him to Islam by offering him ₹5 lakh, and even promised to build his house and gift him a bike. When Sanchit rejected the offer and refused to convert to Islam, the Maulana threatened to kill him and framed him in a rape case.

2) A shocking case of love jihad came to light in Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Shahjahanpur. According to the victim, she met Kasib Pathan on Facebook and Instagram two years ago. Pathan disguised himself using the fake ID of Shiv Verma. The accused won her trust by wearing a tilak and kalawa and by taking oaths of Devis & Devatas. By giving the false promise of marriage, Pathan had physical relations with the victim. He started blackmailing her by making obscene videos using a hidden camera.

3) In a move that has sparked widespread anger among devotees and temple trustees, the Karnataka government under Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken over the administration of the historic Gaali Anjaneya Temple in Bengaluru by transferring it to the Muzrai Department (Religious Endowment Department). This controversial decision, which excludes churches and mosques from similar scrutiny, raises serious questions about why Hindu temples alone are being systematically targeted and brought under state control.

4) Blind hatred towards Bharatiya customs, rituals, and way of life remains the ideological lifeline of communists. As Bharat reclaims its identity and asserts its cultural pride, anti-Hindu elements are growing increasingly intolerant. So much so, that even the time-honoured Gurupooja, observed with reverence across the country, has become a point of contention for the Kerala Education Minister.

5) In the Bilari police station area of UP’s Moradabad, SC e-rickshaw driver Ankit was brutally attacked by a Muslim mob for playing bhajans during Sawan. CCTV footage shows the assailants dragging the victim.

6) A grooming case where Nazim trapped a Hindu girl was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Moradabad. Accused Nazim hails from Mustapur Badera village and reportedly took the girl away with him.

7) Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 15 exposed the dangerous land jihad ploy by Bangladeshi origin Muslims in Upper Assam districts. Addressing a press meet in Dispur CM Sarma said after complete dominance in maximum Lower Assam district, these people are now targeting Upper Assam districts like Lakhimpur and Golaghat.

8) Neo-Ambedkarite teacher Rajneesh Gangwar was seen demeaning the holy Kanwar Yatra. “Don’t carry the Kanwar. I’ve never seen Bhagwan improve anyone’s life,” Gangwar is heard saying in a viral video.

9) A shocking incident of love jihad from UP’s Shahjahanpur, has drawn nationwide attention for its deeply troubling nature. The case involves a Muslim youth posing as a Hindu, deceiving and victimizing a Hindu girl under false pretenses.

10) In a highly Hinduphobic move, the apex court refused to lift the stay on Udaipur Files, a film showing the brutal murder of tailor Kanhaiyalal by Muslim extremists.

11) A woman accused Muslim gym trainer Aman Khan of touching her inappropriately during exercise. The incident was reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur.

12) In a major development, a Muslim female student has been arrested in connection with a shocking incident of anti-Hindu, anti-national, and communally provocative graffiti found inside a women’s hostel bathroom at Nitte Engineering College, Karkala. As per reports, the accused, identified as Fatima Shabna (21), was taken into custody by the Karkala Rural Police.

13) Thangeda, a quiet village in Dachepalli Mandal of Palnadu District in Andhra Pradesh, witnessed communal tensions on late July 14 after a mob of around 200 individuals, reportedly Christians from the same and surrounding villages, allegedly attacked and threatened local Hindu residents who had earlier objected to aggressive evangelical attempts by a newly appointed pastor of the region.

14) In a major incident of illegal religious conversion, Rajan Sahay, originally from Etawah and now residing in Rahimabad village on the western side of the city, has been exposed for orchestrating a covert mass Christianity conversion event. He organized a so-called prayer meeting that was nothing short of a systematic attempt to convert Hindus. Around 100 individuals were present, of whom 58 had already been converted, while 40 others were in the process of being forcibly converted to Christianity.

15) A government school teacher named Shakeel Mohammad reportedly set fire to images of Hindu deities and Bharat Mata, in the Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, he attempted to burn the national flag. He is also accused of forcing Quran and Namaz upon the students.

Most hate crimes are driven by anti-Hindu bigotry encoded in certain religious teachings and political ideologies. While the anti-Hindu hate in Islamic countries is evident, there is another subtler form of anti-Hindu sentiment within institutions and the public sphere of ostensibly secular states (like India) that provides an enabling environment for Hinduphobia and hate crimes. This subtle, everyday discrimination can be missed unless one studies prevailing laws and patterns. The gradual ban on firecrackers during Diwali is a good example – it might seem pollution-related on the surface. Still, the double standards at play become apparent when one looks at the larger picture of restrictions on Hindu festivals and the lack of sound reasoning behind the ban.
