A grooming case where Nazim trapped a Hindu girl was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s (UP) Moradabad. Accused Nazim hails from Mustapur Badera village and reportedly took the girl away with him. The victim even sent a video saying “I have converted to Islam.” The incident occurred in Dilari village.
Hindu organizations Bajrang Dal (BD) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) stepped in to recover the girl after registering a complaint with the police. Following the complaint, the police swung into action and sent teams to arrest the accused. BD and VHP workers visited Dilari Police Station on Friday (11 July). They gheraoed the police station demanding the arrest of the accused and recovering the victim.
The victim belongs to the SC (Scheduled Caste) community and was reportedly in a relationship with Nazim. Both families and village came to know about this. On 9 July, the accused ran away with the girl which led to tension in the village. Following this, the girl’s father filed a complaint and the police swung into action based on the father’s complaint.
The police had registered a missing person’s report. However, the issue snowballed after the girl released a video on 10 July with Nazim by her side confessing that she had ‘accepted Islam.’ In the video, she also accused her parents of wanting to get her married to an older man and hence, she left with Nazim voluntarily. She also ‘requested’ the accused’s family should not be harassed. After the video was posted on social media, three police teams were formed to recover the duo.
Kamal Singh, VHP & BD Dilari block President, emphasized that this was a Grooming (love jihad) case and should be treated as such. VHP and BD activists reached the police station on Friday (11 July) at 10 AM demanding action in the case. The demanded that the victim be recovered at the earliest and Nazim be dealt with strictly. The police pacified the activists and assured them of strict action in the matter. Last reported, police were searching for the couple and Dehat SP Kunwar Akash Singh informed the media that the accused would be arrested at the earliest.
