Hindu Samaj needs to take steps to give a firm Dharmic rooting to the present and future generations. Subbu Publications provided a list (Tweet archived here) of simple tips for Hindus.
Here are 20 things every Hindu must do:
1) Do namaskar to one’s Ishtadev/Ishtadevi before leaving home
2) Recite a shloka before and after a meal
3) Offer alms and donations regularly no matter how small the amount is
4) Pray daily at home as a family
5) Visit a mandir in your locality once a week, your Ishtadevata mandir once every month, and your Kuldevata once every year
6) Apply tika/tilak
7) Observe one fast (weekly, Ekadashi, Ashtami, Pradosh etc.) of your choice and as per your convenience
8) Every Hindu must do seva at the local mandir at least once every week or every fortnight
9) Do Gauseva once every month by visiting a Gaushala
10) Do suryanamaskar and offer arghya to Surya every morning
11) Do annadaan once a year
12) Teach children to do diya-batti (lighting the lamp) daily morning and evening
13) Ensure children learn their mother tongues in addition to Sanskrit and another Bharatiya language
14) Enrol with a Hindu Dharmic organization
15) Read Dharmic books & introduce your children to books such as Panchatantra
I do all these except 14. I am not enrolled in any Hindu org.
But I feel that equivalent to all these is TO BE VEGETARIAN. Hinduon ko maans khana shobha nahi deta….please consider this also. MINIMUM DURING CHATURMAS DO NOT EAT MEAT PLEASE!
