History-sheeter Shamsher Khan murders Shivdatt, severs head, murder comes to light after 8 months: MP

History-sheeter Shamsher alias Bablu Khan has been accused of murdering his ‘friend’ Shivdatt alias Shiva Bhalerao. He suspected that Shiva was having an affair with Khan’s live-in partner Asha Thakur. The murder took place 8 months ago.

According to reports, Khan had invited Shivdatt for a booze party and stabbed him thrice in the chest with a knife. The dead body was buried by the accused and his live-in partner in Khan’s shanty. He placed an iron cot on the spot after putting building scrap over it. The incident took place in October 2021 and came to light recently after Khan used the victim’s severed head to threaten his neighbors. He also warned them of the same consequence if they messed with him.

The Habibganj police swung into action after the locals tipped them off. They detained Khan, who during the course of the investigation, revealed that he had murdered and buried Shivdatt. The police also recovered the severed head at 3 AM on Tuesday from the toilet where Khan had kept it wrapped in a ladies’ kurta. A case was registered against Khan and his live-in partner charging them with murder, hiding evidence, and criminal conspiracy.

SHO Prajapati informed the media that Khan revealed during the probe that the severed head was of his friend Shiva who resided in Habibganj’s PC Nagar. He also informed the police how he had murdered Shiva and buried him in his shanty.

A ToI report notes:

SHO Prajapati said that Shamsher revealed that he and Shiva took contracts of whitewashing buildings together. He suspected that Shiva had an illicit affair with his live-in partner Asha Thakur, 35. He was angry over him so he planned to murder him. He called Shiva for a booze party at his house on October 1, 2021. They had drinks together and after Shiva got drunk, he stabbed him thrice in the chest and neck with a knife and murdered him.

Asha was present at the spot when he killed Shiva. Then they together dug up a 2-feet deep pit and buried Shiva’s body wrapped in a carpet in his shanty. The accused covered the spot with building scrap and placed an iron cot over it to conceal it from neighbours. They had put salt under the carpet over the body so that the foul smell did not come out. Police registered a case against Shamsher and Asha and arrested them. Shamsher has a dozen cases registered against him in the past out of which more than half a dozen were registered on the charges of assault.

SHO Prajapati said that Shiva left home on October 1, 2021, saying that he was going to collect payment from a contractor. However, when he didn’t return home, his father filed a missing person’s complaint with Habibganj police on October 4, 2021. After killing Shiva, Shamsher went to his home the next day and told his parents that he had to recover debt from Shiva. He paid the visit just to avoid suspicion.

According to Khan’s neighbors, he was already married but his wife left him 3 to 4 years ago with their three children. Asha, who hails from Khandwa, works as a beautician. She was residing in Nishatpura with her husband and 2-year-old child. She left them and began staying with Khan after separating from her husband. The neighbors also said that Khan was possessive about Asha and didn’t allow her to interact with anybody. He didn’t even permit anyone to enter their house.

“In the lock-up Shamsher told TOI that he severed Shiva’s head from his body around four days back. He said that he had come to know a few days back that Shiva harassed a woman, who lives in Mira Nagar with her husband. He was acquainted with the woman, so he wanted to give her evidence that he had killed Shiva”, reported ToI.
