“Petty issue, simple altercation”: Delhi Police plays down bleeding man’s complaint against anti-nationals ‘celebrating’ Pak win in Seelampur

Reports of firecrackers being burst in minority-dominated pockets to celebrate Pakistan’s win in a T20 match against Bharat have come in from all parts of the country.

During one such ‘celebration’ in Seelampur area of Delhi, a man says that he asked those bursting crackers and throwing stones to stop as his infant 2-month-old child was sleeping on the roof of his house. Enraged, the men started throwing bricks and even fired, he claims.

A video of the bleeding man standing outside what seems to be a hospital, with blood pouring down his face, has gone viral. Another man accompanying him said that they did not receive any help from police nor an ambulance.

“We are being punished for being Hindus in Seelampur,” he said. “Our roofs have been fired upon…but no police arrived even after 30 minutes of this incident. We have come here on our own in an e-rickshaw even though his blood was flowing from his head to his legs. My nose has been shattered and is bleeding after punches were thrown at me,” he added.

After a user posted this video on twitter, DCP North East Delhi immediately responded from their official twitter handle as below:

Seelampur is a crime-ridden Muslim dominated locality in trans-Yamuna, North East Delhi. It was one of the epicenters of the anti-CAA riots that were plotted by likes of AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain to coincide with the visit of US President Bush.

On 17 December 2019, a 2000-strong Muslim mob in Seelampur had chased & attacked police, pelting stones at innocent bus commuters including a school bus, all the while chanting religious slogans “Nare-takbir (standard Islamic war cry)…Allah-o-Akbar (Allah is the greatest).” Police vehicles were set on fire and atleast a dozen policemen were injured.

In January 20202, locals in Seelampur gathered for namaz and women sat on ‘dharna’ against CAA and NRC. Seelampur was one of the several sites in Delhi where clones of the illegal Shaheen Bagh sit-in were set up by Jamia Millia Islamia Alumni Association President Shifa-Ur-Rahman and others as part of a planned conspiracy to trigger rioting.

Seelampur’s AAP MLA Abdul Rehman was named in an FIR by police for leading the mob during the December 2019 rioting.
