Nepalese Hindu woman, who had converted to Islam for marriage, murdered by Muslim husband and his first wife: Lucknow, UP

In another appalling case of grooming jihad reported from Uttar Pradesh, a Nepalese Muslim man married a Hindu woman after converting her to Islam, and is now accused of her murder after the dead body of the woman was recovered from the couple’s house. As per medical reports, the victim was strangulated to death.

The incident took place on Thursday, January 20 in the Old Kashiram Colony in the Para area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, where Mohammad Yasin, working as a supplier of Ayurvedic medicine was staying with his 27-year-old wife Zara Khan aka Sofia and their 3-year-old daughter. A few days ago, Yasin’s first wife Shahar Bano had joined the couple, and as per reports, she was Yasin’s accomplice in killing Zara. Yasin killed his wife and locked the house from outside, left his daughter with Shahar, and fled the place.

Both Zara and Yasin are Nepalese nationals, who were living in Bharat on counterfeit documents, including fake Aadhar cards which showed them as natives of district Bahraich. Zara Khan was a Hindu girl by birth, and her name was Shiva Vishwakarma. Eldest of four siblings, Shiva was working in Nepalganj town, three hours from her native Gorahi, to stabilize the family’s economic conditions. Yasin, whose real name is Mohammad Isaaq, was a property broker there and Shiva was working with him as a typist.

As per a Swarajya report, though Shiva would address Yasin as “Bhaiya” (brother), Yasin lured her into a romantic relationship and proposed to marry her. Shiva eventually agreed; her mother also didn’t object to the marriage, the father was not living with them. The marriage took place as per Islamic rituals and Shiva became Sofia.

The brother of the victim stated that Yasin had told them that he was divorced and had a son, but only after marriage Shiva found out that he was still married to his first wife. However, due to the financially weak situation of the family, Shiva aka Sofia decided to stay with him. Sharad, the brother of the deceased, said that Yasin had after marriage also tried to groom Shiva’s younger sister for sex. After getting into legal trouble for property-related fraud, Yasin fled to Bharat. There, he procured fake identity documents in the name of Mohammad Yasin and Zara Khan for Sofia (Shiva).

The couple had entered Bharat 6 years earlier, and kept moving around. Before Lucknow, they were living in Nainital.

Sharad had come to Bharat on January 12 for a kidney stone removal operation. However, Sharad grew worried to see that his sister had not visited him in hospital that day. When Sharad asked Yasin about his sister, he kept giving different answers, which made him suspicious. He also called Shiva’s number but the calls went unanswered.

Sharad went to their house and found Shahar Bano with his sister’s minor daughter. She was acting strangely, and a room of the house was locked. He went to Para police station and returned with two policemen who broke the lock and asked Sharad to go inside. There he found his sister’s body wrapped in a blanket. The body was sent for post mortem through which it was established that Shiva had been strangulated to death.

Sharad alleged that police was hasty in filing the FIR and left out some details provided by him.

The investigating officer from Para police station, Dadhibal Tiwari, told Swarajya, “We too have been told they are Nepal natives. We are waiting for a report from our team that has gone to Bahraich for investigation.”

“So far, we have recorded their identities as Bahraich natives. If it is found that Yasin hails from Nepal and not Bahraich, we would tell that to the court. In that case, he would not be granted bail. The same goes for Shahar Bano,” he added.

There seems to be a sophisticated network involved in creating Aadhar and other ID cards using fraudulent means – a few months back, police had busted a gang which was creating Hindu identities for illegal Rohingya and Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants and even sending them abroad. This is an area which should received the highest attention from Home Ministry and judiciary, as the very meaning of Bharatiya citizenship is being abused by criminals.

Yasin and Shahar Bano have been caught and detained under IPC section 302 and various other charges. Police sources reveal that Yasin was preparing to flee to Nepal. The police team on the hunt found him near the border on the night of the crime. Shiva’s daughter is in state custody. Sharad has given an affidavit in a local court claiming that he is the sole guardian of the child.
