Mohd Appu raped a minor Hindu girl (4); police rescue accused from angry locals who tried to thrash him: Delhi

A 4-year-old girl was raped by a 34-year-old Muslim man named Mohammad Appu, also known as Arman. The man, who is the brother of the girl’s tuition teacher, sexually assaulted her when she went to her tuition class, and the teacher wasn’t there. Appu even threatened her not to tell anyone about what happened. The terrible incident occurred on March 23 in the Pandav Nagar area of East Delhi.

The girl, however, bravely told her parents everything when she returned home in tears. Her family filed a complaint at the Mandwali police station, leading to the immediate arrest of the perpetrator. The girl was taken to AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) from Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for medical care.

Delhi’s Additional Commissioner of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi confirmed the arrest of Mohammad Appu and said the girl was safe. According to East Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Apoorva Gupta, a 4-year-old girl was brought to the hospital yesterday after reporting that her tutor had touched her private parts. The presence of swelling in the private area has been verified medically. The culprit has been apprehended. His sister’s involvement in the occurrence is also being probed.

However, the incident sparked anger among the locals, leading to vandalism in the area. The police intervened and managed to restore peace. The situation got out of control, and the locals vandalized the man’s home and shop. Several cars were damaged, and his shop was also destroyed. The police arrived in large numbers to control the situation.

The girl’s condition is stable, and she is receiving counselling. The police have urged the public to maintain peace. The accused has been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
