Mohammad Rehan and Bhayyu attacked a Hindu priest who refused to get his daughter married to Bhayyu: MP

In Ratlam, Mohammad Rehan and Bhayyu broke into a house on Station Road at midnight by breaking the door. They attacked a 46-year-old Hindu priest named Awadhesh Trivedi with a knife, causing severe injuries. The priest was taken to the district hospital for first aid and then referred to the medical college for further treatment.

The police have filed a case against seven people, including the main accused, Bhayyu, under charges of attempted murder and other sections. It is reported that Bhayyu wanted to marry the priest’s 18-year-old daughter forcefully.

According to the police and the priest’s statement, the attack occurred around 12:45 am on Monday (29 January) night while the family was asleep. The accused forcibly entered the house, and when questioned, the main accused, Bhayyu, attacked the priest with a knife. The priest’s son, daughter, and wife, who tried to intervene, were assaultedacked by Rehan and his associates.

The priest, Awadhesh Trivedi, mentioned that he has been serving as a priest in the Jain Shwetambar Trust Board Kabir Saheb temple for about 30 years. He revealed that Bhayyu has been pressuring him to agree to the forced marriage of his daughter, who is currently staying with her grandmother.

The police have registered a case against Bhayyu, a resident of Bhandari Gali, and his six associates, along with Mohammad Rehan, under various sections, including 307 (attempted murder), 458 (house-breaking), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with a deadly weapon), and 149 (unlawful assembly).
