A case has come to light in Meerut where a young Hindu woman was raped by a Muslim man who had feigned love and promised marriage under a false identity. Distressed by threats from the accused’s mother and maternal aunt, the woman consumed poison.

Details of the incident

A Muslim youth, under a false name, lured a young Hindu woman into a love affair and, under the pretense of marriage, forced a physical relationship with her. Upon discovering the truth, the accused’s mother and aunt went to the young woman’s home and threatened her. 

Distressed by this, the young woman attempted suicide by consuming poison. After hospitalizing the victim, police filed a case against the accused, his mother, and aunt for rape and abetment to suicide. Police arrested the accused, Arman, on Thursday night. Arman’s marriage is scheduled for next week.

The victim woman, a resident of a neighborhood in Kharkhoda, has a father who works in Delhi and a mother who works at a medical college. Three years ago, while pursuing her BA, she befriended Arman, also from the same town. Arman works for a private company in Delhi. He introduced himself to her as a Hindu.

He continued to have physical relations with the woman, promising to marry her. When the woman insisted on marrying him, she learned that Arman was Muslim. Arman’s mother, Nagina, and aunt, Sabina, arrived at the woman’s home on Wednesday and pressured her not to take legal action. They also threatened her. Disheartened by this, the woman consumed poison.

The family admitted the girl to the Medical College Hospital. The family informed the police about the incident on Thursday. Police and administrative officers recorded the girl’s statement at the hospital. Based on a complaint from the girl’s father, the police registered a case against the accused, Arman, Nagina, and Sabina. Arman has been arrested. The girl’s condition is said to be critical.

Arman’s maternal uncle Mehboob is spreading love jihad: Hindu orgs

Sachin Sirohi of a Hindu organization alleged that accused Arman’s maternal uncle, Mehboob, is spreading love jihad in the Kharkhoda area. Mehboob first befriended the girl’s father through their neighbor. He entered their home and then deceived the girl by introducing her to Arman. Mehboob claimed Arman was his friend’s son and claimed he was a Hindu. He said that, Arman and Mehboob’s mobile phones should be examined, which will reveal the full truth.

Sachin alleges that despite the incident occurring on Wednesday, the police filed the case on Thursday, after the accused, Arman, was arrested. After the girl consumed poison, her father went to the police station and informed the police about the incident. He alleges that Mehboob is the mastermind behind the entire incident. The girl’s family also says that Mehboob’s intentions were nefarious.

Abhijeet Kumar, SP Rural, stated that Armaan was having physical relations with the girl under the pretext of marriage. The girl consumed poison after being threatened by the accused’s family. The police have registered a case and arrested the accused.
