Islamists pelted stones at the Udayagiri Police Station in Mysore, Karnataka

A violent Islamic mob launched an attack on the Udayagiri Police Station on Monday night in Mysuru, Karnataka, injuring at least 14 police personnel, including two inspectors. As per Kannada Prabha, the attack, triggered by a WhatsApp status posted by a Hindu youth, Suresh, once again highlights the growing trend of Islamic violence and mob justice in Karnataka.

How the violence unfolded

The unrest began after Suresh posted a meme related to the BJP’s Delhi election victory, which allegedly hurt the sentiments of the Islamic community. Enraged Islamists gathered outside the Udayagiri Police Station, demanding immediate action. Despite the police taking suo motu cognizance, arresting the youth, and registering a case against him, the mob refused to disperse and resorted to large-scale violence.

At around 9:30 PM, the crowd escalated into a violent mob, pelting stones at the police station, injuring police personnel, and damaging property. The attackers targeted over 10 police vehicles, while ACP Shantamallappa, Inspector Mahadevaswamy, and 12 other officers sustained injuries and had to be hospitalized.

In response, the police were forced to resort to lathi charges and tear gas to control the situation, underscoring the brazen disregard for law and order by radical elements.

Islamist radicalism behind the attack

The pattern of Islamist mob violence in Karnataka is not new. The latest attack in Mysuru bears a striking resemblance to the 2023 DJ Halli-KG Halli riots, where Islamist radicals burned police stations, vandalized property, and attempted to impose mob justice in response to a social media post. That incident was fueled by radical organizations like PFI and SDPI, which have a long history of fomenting communal violence.

Despite such anti-national acts, the Congress-led Karnataka government later withdrew cases against the Islamic rioters, effectively emboldening radical elements and sending a message of appeasement. The Udayagiri attack is yet another direct consequence of the state’s failure to act decisively against Islamist mobs.

As per Udayavani, following Monday’s violence, tight security has been enforced in the Narasimharaja Assembly constituency. Additional forces, including six KSRP and CAR units along with eight senior police inspectors, have been deployed. Authorities are now analyzing CCTV footage and video recordings to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the attack.

An FIR has been registered, and the case has been transferred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB). Four special teams have been assigned to track down the Islamist rioters responsible for the attack on the police station.

On Tuesday, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka, accompanied by a BJP delegation, visited the Udayagiri Police Station to assess the damage and discuss the law-and-order breakdown with officials. Meanwhile, ADGP (Law and Order) Hitendra also visited the site and directed officials to identify the masterminds behind the attack and investigate possible links to radical Islamist groups.

“Seven police personnel were injured in the stone-pelting incident. We have formed a local police team to track down and arrest those responsible. Investigations are ongoing to determine if any organized group orchestrated the violence. The situation is currently under control.” — Hitendra, ADGP (Law & Order)

Congress minister justifies Islamist mob violence

Adding fuel to the fire, Minister KN Rajanna shamelessly attempted to justify the Islamist rampage, putting the blame on the police instead of the rioters.

“Udayagiri is a 100% Muslim-populated area. Naturally, the people there would be enraged. The police should have taken the accused elsewhere,” Rajanna stated, suggesting that the officers lacked common sense in handling the situation.

This statement, seen as blatantly justifying violent mob behavior, has triggered outrage, with opposition leaders condemning the Congress government for normalizing Islamist aggression and allowing radicals to dictate terms to law enforcement.

Should we hand over entire areas to them?” Swami slams Congress’ stand

Reacting to Cooperative Minister KN Rajanna’s controversial remarks, Swami questioned whether the Congress government believed in ceding control of areas with a 100% Muslim population to Islamist elements.

“The minister’s statement is outrageous. If a place has a majority Muslim population, does that mean the government should surrender it entirely? This exposes the depth of Congress’ appeasement politics,” Swami said, linking the incident to past Islamist violence in KG Halli, DJ Halli, and Hubballi, where police stations were attacked and cases against rioters were later withdrawn.

He also questioned how a mob of 800 radicals was allowed to reach the police station unchecked, pelt stones at officers, and unleash mayhem. “Where was the government when this happened? This is nothing but appeasement politics at its worst,” he declared, demanding an independent inquiry into the attack.

BJP tears into Congress’ inaction

BJP Karnataka President Vijayendra Yediyurappa strongly criticized the Congress government, calling the Udayagiri violence a clear example of how law and order have collapsed under the ruling party.

“The hooliganism in Mysuru’s Udayagiri is a deliberate attempt to undermine law and order. The Congress government’s blatant minority appeasement has emboldened Islamist mobs to operate without fear,” he said in a post on X.

He also lambasted Minister Rajanna for defending communal violence, accusing the Congress of turning Udayagiri into a breeding ground for riots. Warning that Mysuru could soon descend into total communal chaos, he held the ruling party directly responsible for the escalating unrest.

Congress’ rule has led to deteriorating law & order—R. Ashoka

Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka echoed similar concerns, recalling the Hubballi Islamic riots and emphasizing that since Siddaramaiah took office, Karnataka’s law and order situation has rapidly deteriorated. He condemned Minister Rajanna’s shocking defense of the attackers, calling it an insult to the police force and a clear signal that the Congress government sides with radical elements over law enforcement.

The Udayagiri attack is just the latest in a disturbing trend of unchecked Islamist aggression in Karnataka. The Congress’s repeated failure to act against radical mobs and its shocking justifications for communal violence have emboldened extremists, setting a dangerous precedent. If strict action is not taken against those responsible, the state risks falling into complete lawlessness, where mobs dictate law and order and the government merely acts as a spectator. The people of Karnataka must demand accountability from a government that seems more interested in placating radical elements than upholding justice.

This incident in Mysuru is part of a disturbing trend of Islamist-instigated violence in Karnataka, where radicals take to the streets whenever their religious sentiments are allegedly hurt, undermining the rule of law. From DJ Halli to Udayagiri, such attacks expose the unchecked rise of mob rule under Islamic influence.
