Haneef Sheikh arrested by Malvani police for fake currency racket: Mumbai, MH

A 33-year-old painter Haneef Sheikh was arrested by Malvani police on January 16 for printing fake Indian currency notes of rupees 200 denomination. Fake Indian currency notes in the Rs 200 denomination banknotes with a face value of Rs 60,000 were seized from Sheikh. The seized notes were sent for investigation.

Only recently, Kolkata Police Special Task Force arrested one Selim Sekh and recovered a huge stash of counterfeit currency worth 43000 rupees from him. “86 pieces of fake Indian currency notes, each worth Rs 500, totalling Rs 43000, were found in his hands and seized during the search. We have booked him under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), and 489 (counterfeiting currency notes) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)”, Kolkata police said.
