Another case of a missing Hindu girl was reported from the Alappuzha district in Kerala, and this time the girl was a minor.
Manakkaparambu Bjiu’s daughter (16) allegedly went missing with Safaruddin S/o Shaji from Elanjiparambu House. The incident happened last month, and Biju is a local communist trade union leader. Police issued a lookout notice, but there is no trace of the couple, even after a month.
Last month, their disappearance caused panic, and the girl’s parents complained to the Alappuzha police. Police issued lookout notices, and the notices with color photographs were published in local newspapers. Police are yet to find out where both the minors are currently.
Several organizations have come forward, and they allege that this is a case of grooming jihad. Social media, too, is abuzz with news about this crime. Both missing minors are students of TD School in Alappuzha. The girl is a plus one student, and the boy attends plus two classes.
A couple of days before they went missing, they were seen at a movie theatre together. The girl’s parents had scolded her and warned her against the same.
After they went missing, CCTV footage spotted them in Ernakulam. The girl’s mobile phone, which was switched off till then, was activated. Someone again turned it off after some time. There are complaints that the police are not proactively searching for the minors.
Some allege that the girl has become a victim of a grooming jihad gang. Such victims also have a history of disappearing only to resurface in far-off Islamist countries like Syria and Afghanistan, never to return.
Anyone who spots either of them is requested to contact the Alappuzha deputy superintendent of police or the district police chief.
