Christians up in arms over ‘inter-faith marriage’ in Palakkad, Kerala

An inter-faith ‘marriage’ between a Christian girl and a Muslim man named Muhammad Ajmal has been reported from Mannarkkad in Palakkad district. The Christian community is up in arms, alleging that this is a case of grooming jihad and the marriage is a sham organized by radical elements in the area and the Tachampara panchayat authorities. The authorities registered the marriage based on a certificate issued by the notorious Casa Lucio Resort.

While Ajmal is from Mannarkkad, the girl is from Kannur. She worked abroad, and Ajmal contacted her through social media. It is alleged that neither her return to Bharat last month nor the marriage occurred with her parent’s knowledge or consent. The couple tied the knot in the presence of the Muslim youth’s friends at the Casa Lucio resort in Palakkayam, 15 km from Mannarkkad.

A ‘certificate’ issued on the letter pad of Casa Lucio resort signed by the resort’s manager Jamsheer has sparked the controversy. It says that the couple got married at their honeymoon resort. It is alleged that the Tachampara panchayat authorities registered the marriage by accepting this testimony as a document. The resort owners now claim that the letter is fake.

Incidentally, the parents knew about the girl’s arrival in Kerala only when the marriage registration process was going on in Tachampara panchayat. The panchayat authorities allegedly validated the marriage based solely on the resort’s ‘certificate’. Why did they allow the registration without the consent of the girl’s parents, local Christians are demanding.

Unlike Hindus, who often only vent their anger on social media when such alleged grooming jihad incidents occur, the better-organized and religiously-aware Christian community came out in large numbers and opposed this ‘marriage’. Interestingly, the Christian lady is not from Palakkad but from Kannur, yet hundreds of Christians took part in the dharna. Protest marches were organized near the resort under the joint auspices of various Christian organizations.

That included the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Congress, Kerala Catholic Youth Movement (KCYM), Syro Malabar Church Mathruvedi, and Cherupushpa Mission League (CML). Though hundreds of people, including youth and women from different areas and parishes of Palakkad district, participated in the protest, mainstream media refused to report the event. Such rejection to accept grooming jihad reconfirms allegations that Kerala media is now under the complete control of extremist Islamists.

Several Christian priests spoke vociferously at the protest which was inaugurated by Sunny Nedumpuram, secretary of the Palakkad diocese pastoral council. A large police force was deployed near the resort where the protest occurred. Palakkayam parish vicar Raju Pulikathazha said that anyone who tries to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of Palakkayam would be resisted.

The protest committee demanded the authorities to reveal the facts of the ‘marriage’ at the shady Casa Lucio resort. These Christian organizations have formed a joint Samara Samiti (action committee). They have decided to investigate and find out the severe lapses of Tachampara Panchayat authorities in connection with the alleged fake marriage. They will file a complaint with the higher police and government authorities based on their findings. They decided to continue with the protests until the complaint was investigated and further action was taken.

Incidentally, Tachampara local body is ruled by the communists in partnership with the Kerala Congress (M) headed by Jose K Mani. Many Keralite Christians consider Mani as their savior.

Seasoned socio-political observers believe that such incidents of grooming jihad cannot be curbed unless strict laws are introduced as a first step, along the lines of Karnataka and UP. The communist regime is in denial., despite its cadre being well aware of the menace. Their leaders prefer to remain silent to please the radical Islamists, and the lives of thousands of ordinary non-Muslim girls and their families become fodder for their political ambitions.

Mannarkkad is the gateway to Palakkad from Malappuram, and this region’s demographic change has been steady. This is where an Islamist mob led by local green communist leaders cum traders brutally lynched a tribal named Madhu. Communists and their cronies have even threatened judges with dire consequences and blackmailed them with ‘unpleasant news and photographs.’ The state government that spends crores from the public exchequer to protect their corrupt leaders has refused to pay government lawyers who defend Madhu.

Government officials in this picturesque land have even whitewashed Islamist crimes against animals. Shady lodges, hotels, and homestays owned by Islamists dot the landscape. Last year, HinduPost reported another gruesome grooming jihad incident from the same locality.

Two guests staying in Mannarkkad Hill View died of asphyxiation. Mohammed Basheer (58), from Malappuram and Pushpalatha (42) were staying in a room on the third floor, and a fire broke out at 3 AM. The hotel is owned by C Mohammed Basheer (aka Fayeda Basheer), the Mannarkkad municipality chairman and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) general secretary.
