Imtiyaz Chaudhary assaults & rapes ex-girlfriend for breaking up with him after he refused to marry her citing their different faiths

The Mira Road Kashimira police arrested a 22-year-old man, Imtiyaz Chaudhary, for assaulting and raping his former girlfriend as a ‘punishment’ for ending their relationship. Reports say the woman broke up with him after he refused to marry her as they belonged to different faiths. The police said Chaudhary was blackmailing the victim using videos he had filmed.

He had asked the woman to meet him at a hotel in Mira Road and threatened to circulate their private videos and photographs if she failed to come. Kashimira police stated that the two had been in a relationship since 2021 but the victim stopped responding to his calls after he turned down her request to marry him.

He physically and sexually assaulted the woman on January 29 at a Mira Road hotel. Furthermore, he even humiliated and harassed her by spitting and making her lick it as punishment. He also threatened to kill her if she dared to complain to the police. The victim, however, gathered enough courage and reached Kashimira police station along with her friend and a social activist to lodge a complaint against Chaudhary.

An FIR has been filed against Chaudhary under 376 (rape), 377 (sodomy), 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

“After learning that an FIR had been registered against him, Imtiyaz switched off his mobile and has been on the run. He sometimes switches on his cell phone and has been continuously changing his location. He is active on social media. We have traced the accused and are in the process of arresting him. The statements of the hotel staff have also been recorded”, Kashimira police stated.
